Got to love hearing about a 102-year old that still goes out and wets a line.

Not only that, she’s been fishing for longer than most of us have been alive!

Meet Margaret Renner, a 102-year old from Montana that has been fishing pretty much her entire life.

When asked why she believes she has lived so long, here was her response:

“That’s why I think I’m living so long, because I’ve eaten a lot of fish.”

And the biggest cardinal sin for Margaret…

It’s losing a fish…

This quote from the Missoulian on Margaret sums it all up:

“Having lived through two world wars, the Great Depression, the nuclear age, manned travel to outer space, the women’s movement and computer age, a person would be correct in expecting Margaret to be the bearer of some sage advice. Her final admonishment to a visitor as she held his hand in both of hers and looked directly into his eyes was: “You need to go out and fish.”

When fishing for monster Goliath Grouper, you just never know what might happen…

Check out the wild footage that our friends from Big Bully Outdoors captured when one of their clients from South Dakota had a fishing trip he’ll never forget (apparently it was his birthday).

Kudos to the angler for hanging on, getting right back in the boat, and landing the grouper.

Good stuff.

Have you ever been curious as to how fish can get past a dam when it comes to spawning season?

Well, the folks at the Gadmerwasser Kraftwerke Oberhasli AG dam in Switzerland were.

They put cameras throughout this entire “Fish Gauntlet” to see just how many fish are coming through the complicated labyrinth of things a fish has to get through in the dam.

One thing is for sure… only the strong survive and get past this damn.

You’ve probably seen people loading kayaks and paddleboards on top of a car or truck, but have you ever seen a pontoon boat up on top?

Not long ago, someone in our private Facebook group (the Salt Strong Fishing Tribe) posted a picture of a truck with a boat on top, and for the life of me I couldn’t figure out why someone would do this.

But after finding this video below on YouTube and seeing some of the owner’s comments, it comes down to two reasons to go to this much trouble to put a pontoon boat on top of your truck:

For campers/RV owners, it is a great way to tow your truck and boat (according to the owner)
The owner of this truck is a boat dealer, and by having a boat on top of his truck, he can still tow a second boat (kind of like a car carrier truck but on a smaller scale)

And according to the owner, he has been pulled over on numerous occasions and this is 100% legal.

Jack Crevalle will eat just about anything…

And this video is proof as a big jack hits a topwater kid’s finger as this youngster was trying to feed the ever-hungry jacks.

Certainly a day on the water this kid won’t forget, and he probably won’t stick his fingers in the water next to feeding jacks again.

The jack bit him hard enough that it broke skin.

It appears that sharks and fishermen have something in common…

While hunting or fishing mode, don’t ride your wave runner right on top of us!

And as you can see in this video, the shark appears to be in a shallow water hunting mode and this jet ski was aiming right for him.

Can’t really blame him for coming up and taking a bite.

Here are the notes from the incident:

“My wife and I were on our Yamaha FX Cruiser jetski touring up the western side of Fraser Island, we noticed a shadow in the water and realised in was a rather large shark. We decided to get a little closer to take some video footage and we clearly got a little too close! No one was injured although the jetski did get some small scuff marks where the shark contacted the ski.”

This might be the coolest fly fishing video ever made!

Ever heard of “The Hottest Bite?”

Apparently, it’s a new YouTube-based fishing show where pro angler Tyler Kapela and model Marissa Everhart go around the world to discover exotic locations, explore diverse cultures, and catch some lunker fish.

So far, they only have four videos up on their channel, and they are all pretty short (but action-packed).

I’ll be interested to see if they get enough attention for a full-length show or keep doing the shorts.

But one thing is for certain is that they have more content coming…

I saw on Capt. Nick Stanczyk’s Instagram page that Tyler and Marissa were out daytime swordfishing this week, and I’m certain they got some amazing footage with Capt. Nick.

Not only are porpoises smart, but they also like to have some fun!

Just wait until you see what they did to some unsuspecting tourists in the video below.

Either these porpoise didn’t want to be filmed that day or they don’t like pink iPads… either way, pretty funny to see this on film.

The best part was shortly after the pink iPad gets pulled in the water by one dolphin, another dolphin comes by and sprays the lady filming it!

Talk about teamwork!

Make sure to listen to the very end as the young guy on the microphone talking to the crowd is pretty funny… “As you can see, the dolphins can reach your loose items…” (I can only imagine he was trying his best not to laugh on the PA system).
