Have you heard of the show “Silver Kings” yet?

If not, you’re about to!

Last month I posted a Tarpon trailer that went somewhat viral on our site called, “The South Florida Tarpon Trailer That Will Leave You With Goosebumps” (you can watch it here).

It was the Season 2 Trailer for the show…

And while I was doing some searching for tarpon videos yesterday, I came across the “Silver Kings” trailer for Season 1.

Curiosity got the best of me, and there I was last night… in front of my computer watching another tarpon video that gave me goosebumps and a burning desire to head back down to Islamorada…

Check out this amazing tarpon trailer, and don’t forget to check out the full-length “Silver Kings” TV shows that start up again in January 2016.

For more information about the show, the two featured tarpon guides (Capt. Bou Bosso and Capt. Rob Fordyce), and more, check our the main Silver Kings website here.

When Luke and I started Salt Strong earlier this year, one of our missions was to get more people out fishing.

From getting young kids off the couch, to getting families together for some bonding time, to getting more women out there enjoying the amazing sport of fishing.

So when I saw this video of fly fishing world record holder Meredith McCord talking about the need for more women to get out there and wet a line, it was a no-brainer to share it with you.

In fact, it’s the same message I am sharing with my own wife and two daughters. I tell them that girls that fish (and girls that are “Salt Strong”) will be leaders, rulers, and will be happier in life…

And it doesn’t matter if it is fly fishing, offshore fishing with huge Penn reels, inshore fishing with spinning reels, tossing plastic worms for largemouth bass, or just catching bluegills from a dock with bread and a cane pole, the act of fishing alone is enough to change lives.

Not to mention, I think most men would prefer to see a women or two out on the water vs a bunch of old salty and scruffy men all the time…

Can I get an Amen?

Enjoy and keep up the great work Meredith McCord.

I’ve been holding on to this video for quite some time, just waiting for the right moment to post it…

If you recall back on June 23rd I posted a video with the title, “The Biggest School of Redfish Ever Caught on Film?” (watch it here if you never saw it).

And at the end of the video, I asked the amazing Salt Strong audience to send me any redfish footage that can beat it.

I received a couple that either beat it or were really close (sorry, but I didn’t have time to literally count all of the redfish), and I posted them shortly after the “Biggest School of Redfish” video.

Here they are:

  1. “Wait til’ You See Why This Guy Is Screaming Holy Redfish!” (watch it here)
  2. “How Would You Like To Run Into This School Of Redfish?” (watch it here)

And then I received this video below…

It didn’t beat the redfish count (although it was certainly close), but it stuck out because of the bad to bone music that got me all fired up. In fact, I would be willing to be that it will have you humming one of the two tunes for the rest of the day.

And they even catch a nice cobia (from what looked like off of a whale), along with a crazy school of redfish.

I honestly can’t recall if Capt. Brad Sperling of the “Brassy Hooker” sent in the video, or if it was angler Mark Galloway, but either way, awesome job gents!

Salt Strong material for sure!

P.P.S. – About halfway through they get some awesome underwater footage of the massive school of redfish.

Our friends over the Redington (the popular fly fishing company) put together a really cool 6-piece video series called “Find Your Water” (you can see all 6 of the videos here).

In these “Find Your Water” short fishing videos, Redington fly fishing ambassadors get to tell their stories and show the world why they love fly fishing so much.

One of the six videos was called “Blue Collar Salt”. It is an awesome video about Redington Ambassador Alex Tejada, a die-hard fly fishing, tarpon loving, blue collar, kayak angler.

Check out his story and the amazing tarpon video he put together.

Apparently Ryan Sansoucy and Conway Bowman didn’t watch the video on our website about why you NEVER want to hook a Mako Shark near your boat…

(It was called, “This Is Why You NEVER Want To Hook A Mako Shark Next To Your Boat” – you can watch it here)

These guys are NUTS!

As if there wasn’t already enough challenge in landing the powerful and high-flying Mako Sharks, Ryan and Conway decided to try it while on a stand-up paddleboard (SUP)… all while using a fly rod.

The only positive thing they had in their favor was that the Mako Sharks around them were not 500lb+ beasts, but still an incredibly wild fishing experience nonetheless.

Just imagine how fast your heart would be beating when the mako shark is right up next to your paddleboard and you are attempting your first release!

Would you do this?

Let’s face it, all fishing can be pretty addictive…

There is always that “next fish”… there is always the “new record”… there is always “the one that got away”… and there is always the pursuit of feeling (and hearing) the line rip out of your reel…

For some of us, we love conventional saltwater fishing using spinning reels and bait casters.

While others, prefer nothing but a fly rod in their hand.

So why is that some anglers are so obsessed with fly fishing?

Well, our friends Patrick Rhea and Nick Shirghio of LivitFilms just released this latest fly fishing masterpiece called, “Connection” that pretty much sums up the “connection” fly anglers have with their beloved sport.

Step aside Real Housewives of Miami, as this is what Real Men of Miami look like…

Check out this awesome nighttime Tarpon fishing near downtown Miami filmed by our friend Patrick Rhea of LivitFilms. Patrick is the same guy that produced the hit music video “Fishing In Our Soul” (watch that music video here).

The two fly guys fishing are Alex and Kent.

Great job gents!

Redfish Strong!

Check out this awesome skinny water redfish video from Chris Lewis of Skinny Water Culture.

In the video below, Chris is out fly fishing on his SUP (Stand up paddleboard for the layperson), and comes across a small school of redfish back in the skinny water of the Everglades.

Loved seeing the redfish take off leaving the mud dust trail behind.

Nice red, nice music, and nice video Chris!

I grew up wakeboarding in Central Florida, and I was pretty good for an amateur wakeboarder.

And I can vividly recall some of the crazy (aka dumb) things we did as teenagers once we ran out of tricks that we knew how to do…

We would sling each other on land, we would jump Cypress Gardens ski jumps, and we even would see how far back we could get our friend Richard way back into the cattails going 40 miles per hour before getting hit enough in the face you had to let go of the rope (he was the only one bold enough to try it).

So when I saw this extreme wakeboarding video of Pro Wakeboarder Andy Hurdman tearing it up in the frigid glacier waters of Alaska (for the TV show “Catching Air”), I knew it was going to be epic.

I won’t ruin it for you, but definitely stick around until the end.

Andy even catches a fish to make this video the Ultimate “Salt Strong” footage.

Andy Hurdman = Salt Strong
