We get a lot of emails every week with video ideas, suggestions, and people asking us to promote their footage.

Although we can’t post it all (there are not enough hours in the day), we do like to feature our Salt Strong Tribe as much as we can.

This video below is from one of our customer’s named Bob Glassen, and it is his first tarpon jump ever (out of a kayak nonetheless).

He was lucky enough to have Michael Sammons behind him with a camera to capture it on film. Well done guys. Awesome footage! I’m pretty sure that Bob is hooked on tarpon fishing for life…

I don’t know about you, but I can watch tarpon launching like this all day long.

Enjoy.

She’s not the prettiest kayak trolling motor, but she does run…

This DIY kayak trolling motor made from an old grinder tool and some other spare parts won’t go 32 MPH like this supercharged kayak, but it certainly will get you around.

My only thought is that if you are going to take this much trouble to build a trolling motor for a kayak, you might as well go big or go home… like using a lawnmower engine or something with more power than a grinder.

But cool idea either way.

For the super crafty and slightly lazy, this could be the perfect DIY project…

Big thanks to Jerry Craft for sending this in.

Enjoy.

Ruthless!!!

When bull sharks are hungry, nothing stops them from eating any free meal that comes in their path, even other sharks…

In this wild video, angler Palm Beach Pete is out on his paddle board while his buddies KC and Dwayne head out in their kayaks.

They were hoping to catch some permit that day when KC hooked into a nice blacktip shark.

Right before it came up to the surface for a landing and release, a couple of massive bull sharks came out of the blue and ripped the blacktip shark to shreds!

Nature can be brutal sometimes…

Check it out!

When my friend Brandon Barton (the same kayak angler that accidentally hooked a big osprey in this video) sends me an email, it usually has an amazing kayak fishing video with it…

So when I saw that he emailed me yesterday, I was quick to open it up and see what he had captured on one of his wild kayak fishing excursions.

And low and behold, it was a pearl of a kayak fishing video…

In this video, Brandon is out on a charter with a new kayak angler and a few other kayak anglers while fishing a wreck for snapper and grouper.

They had the drag locked down pretty hard on the guy’s reel to avoid losing their fish in the wreck that there were on top of, and this red snapper made a run that completely flipped the angler out!

The really amazing part is this angler held on to the rod like a champ and even got a nice pic with the big red snapper at the end of the day.

Enjoy!

What’s SUP!

Well, I’ll tell you what’s up.

Our friends over at AFTCO just released their latest “Surface Tension” video, and this one is using a skinny water SUP (Stand Up Paddle Board) to catch blue water fish.

In particular, AFTCO Pro Troy Faletra of Throw Raft heads out from the beach on a BOTE board to catch mahi and sailfish from his SUP.

Pretty cool stuff. Well filmed video gents.

Enjoy.

Well, our friends over at Salty Roots did it again…

After their first Tarpon video “Tarpon Insanity” was such a hit (you can see it here), they came out with “Tarpon Insanity 2”.

Watch as the guys fight more tarpon in one video than most people will catch in their lives.

And the fact they did it all from either a paddle board or a kayak is even more impressive.

This certainly has me pumped up for Tarpon season.

Who’s ready to hit the water and chase some silver kings!

Enjoy.

Wow!

Talk about nailing every single point about why people love saltwater kayak fishing so much.

What a video!

I recall a few weeks ago when we interviewed angler Nick Lytle for our podcast (you can listen to the interview here) that he talked about one thing he loved so much about kayak fishing was the fact that you could hear everything.

Fish moving, mullet jumping, birds swooping down on bait… if you are quite and keep your ears perked, you can hear everything while kayak fishing.

In other words, a big part of kayak fishing is listening and being able to experience and hear nature around you while you hunt for fish.

So it was no surprise to hear kayak angler Jim Sammons mention the same thing.

He then goes on to talk about the “electricity” that hits his hands every time a fish hits the reel, not to mention, gets some outstanding footage from some nice fish (like the sailfish, Mahi, and tarpon he lands towards the end).

Great job Jim Sammons of the Kayak Fishing Show!

Enjoy.

It’s Freshwater Friday time!

This is an oldie but a goodie!

In this video, pro kayak angler Drew Gregory is trying to enjoy a nice day out on the water bass fishing.

But this small groop of geese just won’t leave him alone.

After watching the footage, it looks to me that things went downhill for Drew after he caught a bass right in their face.

Lesson learned: Don’t ever show up a goose while fishing (especially if the cameras are rolling).

We can only assume that these goose ended up with an apple it’s mouth and being served to Drew’s family… haha.

Enjoy.

Our friends over at Salty Roots really nailed it on this tarpon video.

And talk about some amazing tarpon footage all from either a kayak or a paddleboard. Impressive stuff!

At one point in the video, a tarpon almost jumps into the guy’s yak!

salty roots tarpon insanity

From the notes in the video, all of this silver king footage was taken along the Cocoa Beach to Sebastion area, and I can only assume it was during the mullet run from last year.

Great job gents!

The beast of a tarpon making his run (with some amazing aerial moves) at the end was the perfect capper.

Fish On!
