When my friend Brandon Barton (the same kayak angler that accidentally hooked a big osprey in this video) sends me an email, it usually has an amazing kayak fishing video with it…

So when I saw that he emailed me yesterday, I was quick to open it up and see what he had captured on one of his wild kayak fishing excursions.

And low and behold, it was a pearl of a kayak fishing video…

In this video, Brandon is out on a charter with a new kayak angler and a few other kayak anglers while fishing a wreck for snapper and grouper.

They had the drag locked down pretty hard on the guy’s reel to avoid losing their fish in the wreck that there were on top of, and this red snapper made a run that completely flipped the angler out!

The really amazing part is this angler held on to the rod like a champ and even got a nice pic with the big red snapper at the end of the day.

When Capt. Nat and his client Ron went offshore from Gloucester, Massachusettes, they had a good feeling that they would land a few tuna that day.

But nothing could have prepared them for the beast of a bluefin tuna they caught on their last live bait of the day!

And the boat of onlookers that took the video were WAY OFF in their estimation of this tuna’s weight…

Want to know how much this tuna weighed when Capt. Nat got him back to the marina?

712 pounds!

Yep, this tuna broke the 700lb mark and it broke the 100in mark (it was 101 inches long). Another impressive feat was that big bluefin was landed using a 90lb fluorocarbon leader!

As you will see, they even had to borrow another deckhand from another boat to balance out the boat and help lift this beast in. Glad that it didn’t flip you guys over!

IMPORTANT WARNING: Kids, adults, and anglers of all sizes and ages… do NOT try this at home. It could end up costing you your fishing rod, your boat, or even your life…

In what could be the most dangerous and riskiest fishing stunt ever captured on film, Captain Brant (from Angler Up With Capt. Brant) and his sidekick fishing buddy not only take bananas out fishing, but they use them for bait.

Yep, bananas for bait… and I know what you are thinking right now…

Has the world gone completely mad?

Or have these anglers just gone “Bananas”? (what a zinger!)

Now before you watch the video, it’s important to note that when the monster snapper are literally next to your boat begging to get caught (most likely from a nice round of chum), it probably isn’t that tough to catch them on anything.

However, we must give credit to Capt. Brant for having the courage to take bananas out in the first place.

He is very fortunate that the fishing gods were kind to him that day and didn’t sink his boat, or explode his engine, or send a pod of porpoises to scare every fish in the vicinity away…

It is also important to note that there was no footage of them making it back safely with no boat or mechanical issues… just saying… haha

Here at Salt Strong, we highly recommend that no one take physical bananas out on the boat while fishing. In fact, we went as far as to create a shirt to let all of the fish know your boat is “Banana Free”.

Talk about underwater highway Robbery!

These Goliath Grouper sit down by wrecks and just wait for a free meal…

Whether it be a hooked fish or speared fish, the Goliath Grouper doesn’t care.

Check out this wild footage of multiple Goliath Grouper attacking spearfishermen’s catches.

It was like the entire school of grouper were teaming up against this diver!

The grouper at the end actually pulled the driver around like it was nothing!

I bet he doesn’t go spearfishing on this wreck again.

Tough to compete with hungry Goliath Grouper that weigh more than you do…

As a final note, thank goodness this guy was underwater while he was yelling… otherwise, I am pretty sure we the language would have prevented it from getting on Salt Strong!

Yep, that 400lb Goliath Grouper making the news yesterday was caught by our very own Ryan “The Wrench” Hein.

I was scrolling through the Salt Strong “Fishing Tribe” private Facebook group feed yesterday afternoon and saw that someone had posted this ABC News video about a Goliath being caught using a Stanley wrench!

And shortly after I realized that Ryan was actually part of the Tribe.

Pa-POW!

For those of you wondering what gear was used to land this 400lb beast of a Goliath Grouper, here is everything according to Ryan Hein:

I can only imagine this blue marlin is going back to his friends telling them all how he stabbed a human on a boat…

If you’ve ever been marlin fishing before, you know that there are a lot of things that have to go right in order to land the marlin.

Ironically, the last thing you want is an energized marlin coming in the boat too early.

Check out what happens on board the Mufasa Sportfishing Boat in Australia this week.

Nuts!

That deckhand was like “Cool Hand Luke” out there! Acted like it hardly phased him that he was almost impaled!

Angler Dennis Verreet is known for some of his extreme land-based saltwater fishing from the rocks (like this 200lb beast of a tuna he landed from shore in Australia)

But in this video, Dennis’s wife Kate takes the spotlight as she hooks into a monster tuna…

And what a fight both she and tuna put up!

Talk about watching a lot of line leave the reel!

Sadly, not all fishing stories end up great ones, but this was too cool not to share just from the screaming drag and all of the line the tuna took out.

One thing I am certain of… Kate will be back for another round with the tuna soon.

If you have ever had the pleasure of fighting a tarpon, you know that these prehistoric fish are one of the toughest fighting fish out there.

They jump, they dive, and many times fight with 110% of what they got right up until death…

So when I saw this amazing Sl0-Mo tarpon footage from our friends at Shallow Water Expeditions (their over the top redfish video was featured last week as well – see it here)

The last time that UCF Knights Fishing Club President Ryan Hullilan sent me a video, I was not disappointed (if you never saw the original UCF fishing video, click here to see it now)

So the other day when I saw his name in my inbox again, I quickly opened it up to see a brand spanking new video called, “Mooseville”.

Why Mooseville?

Well, probably because the entire video is these guys catching Monster Moose Reds like these!

Oh by the way, you also get to see some footage of a 40-inch redfish so hungry it hits a lure that already has a trout on it.

TWICE!

Epic.

Ryan, Eddie Twyford (the video editor/angler/VP of the UCF fishing club), and the rest of the UCF fishing crew nailed it on this one.

And after watching this, I guess I can’t blame you guys for heading east from Orlando (although there is some great inshore fishing over here on the west coast as well).

Either way, keep up the great work UCF!
