It’s celebrity fishing time!
When they say that the rich and famous are not at all that “different” from anyone of us, it’s pretty true when you see all of the celebrity fishing pics below.
After a long day of being awesome and making more money than most of us will make in our lifetime, celebrities also need a hobby or a sport that’ll let them unwind and reinvigorate, taking them away from the constant pressure of their works.
With that in mind, we list some of the most interesting (and a few shocking) celebrities and famous people that find peace and satisfaction in fishing and going outdoors.
Even if many of these celebrities aren’t the best anglers, at least they aren’t taking sides with PETA and bashing our beloved pasttime…
1. Oprah Winfrey
One of the greatest influencers in America, Oprah Winfrey, is really a woman of style and substance.
And after we found out that she loves to fish, it’s not suprising that she is loved and adored by so many.

2. Brad Pitt
Hollywood actor Brad Pitt began to fall in love with fishing when he needed to learn the skill for his iconic role as a fly-fisherman in 1992 film ‘A River Runs Through It’. From then on, he continues to fish leisurely – taking with him his wife and kids.
And if Brad Pitt can find time to fish, then so can you.

3. Avril Lavigne
Yep, this same punk-rock female singer is the same girl that grew up fishing in the picture below with her brother.
Pop princess Avril Lavigne is well-known for her strong personality and non-commercial image in the music space. Growing up with her brothers, she has begun to love “fishing of all kinds.”
Just like many of the other celebrities on the list, this singer-songwriter is a “tomboy at heart” and loves fishing any chance she gets!
4. Hank Williams, Jr.
What do you think you would have become if you weren’t the person you are today?
That was a question that was asked to Hank many years ago.
For Hank Williams Jr., his answer was that if he weren’t an entrepreneur or a musician, he would be on a fishing boat or teaching people to fish or hunt.
“Well, fishing and hunting are two of the best things I could be doing if I am not doing a show. I don’t book shows during hunting season at all,” the singer-songwriter disclosed.

5. Former President George Bush Sr.
The oldest living president, George Herbert Walker Bush, who just turned 92 last June, led the Wednesday’s “Fishing for Freedom” event with a pool of 40 wounded warriors on a fishing trip at the helm of his speedboat three days after his bash.
Reportedly, the former president competed in several fishing tournaments and has always been greatly committed in his fishing conservation efforts. His interest for fishing has sprouted into something worthwhile among fishers and anglers across the world.
For years, you could find George Sr. down in Florida (usually near Boca Grande) in search of tarpon, snook, and redfish.
6. Kevin Costner
This seasoned veteran and 1994’s Waterworld actor enjoys everything from fly fishing to spearfishing.
He likewise admitted that he has been fishing since his diaper days and still loves the sport up to now. His passion for this all-time hobby has grown each day that he would even fish in a mud puddle if someone said there are “gems” in it.
“I am not a purist. I’ll fish with a bobber. I don’t think there’s any greater thrill than seeing that red-and-white bobber go shwwwwwomp down,” the two-time academy award winner said.
7. Harrison Ford
Another fishing hobbyist is the American actor and film producer, the face of Indiana Jones, and the “Han Solo” of the original Star Wars epic space opera trilogy, Harrison Ford.
Perhaps, the secret behind his “charming leathered face” is sportfishing that includes being out in the sun, loving the sand and the sea as well as being with his fishing gears and buddies, too.
8. Sarah Palin
Known to be an avid fishing fan, Sarah Louise Palin loves to take her hubby and kids too to fishing trips – getting a dose of sunshine, having fun in the water and of course, feeling fulfilled in getting some fishing in.
“I think this world would be better off having more young women holding a fish in a picture than holding their camera in front of a bathroom mirror, talking a selfie,” the American politician, commentator and author posted on Facebook.

Well, Rihanna just gave her fisherwoman look a rock star edge. In an Instagram photo that surprised most of her followers, RiRi wrote: “Meet my catch of the day Mr. Mahi”.
During that fishing trip in the tropical seas, Robyn Rihanna Fenty, a Barbadian singer and songwriter, successfully landed her scrumptious sashimi lunch when she reeled in one of Hawaii’s famous mahi-mahi. Yum!
10. President Obama
Despite his hectic schedule, President Barack Obama sees to it that he still manages to take advantage of every opportunity, including learning how to fish and understanding everything about it.
Though the POTUS is new to fly fishing, local fishing guide Dan Vermillion said he was impressed with the president’s grasp of the sport.
“The president was a very quick learner,” said Vermillion. “He was really interested in learning about fly fishing. If time allows, I think he will become a very good fisherman. He is obviously a very good athlete.”

11. Liam Neeson
To have a break from the hustle and bustle of the big city and escape Hollywood lifestyle, the ‘Taken’ actor Liam Neeson goes fly fishing, specifically taking two months off every year to indulge in his hobbies and travels to different parts of the U.S. to go angling.
“’I try to take July and August off every year, do a little bit of fly fishing… America is so beautiful.”
And yes, this month indeed commences the best time of the year. Fish on, dude!
12. Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods always finds time to head out and go fishing whenever he’s not on the green. “I thoroughly enjoy getting away from the game and going out fishing because it’s so relaxing, so quiet and peaceful,” the popular golfer shared.
Apparently, he’s even got a taste for spearfishing and enjoys fishing for large-mouth bass. His website likewise reveals that his most favorite saltwater retreat is “going underwater and shooting fish” – no doubt, he’s such a sports enthusiast!

Just like Woods and Williams, if you don’t see Karl Malone making any public appearances, the legendary retired basketball star sees to it that he hunts and fishes as often as he could.
