I’ve never personally broken a rod, but some of my anglers have. High-sticking has been the issue where most rods have been broken, but on occasion, the rod has hit something, perhaps the trolling motor or something else, when casting. The rod may not break then, but perhaps when a fish is on and pressure is put on the blank at a later time. Ceiling fans can eat the tips of rods, and sometimes not break them, but later the failure occurs when pressure is put on the rod. Some good tips there, Tony. Thanks.

Good information Tony. I try and keep things in good condition. After rinse them off I use a little electric blower to get the water off. I can’t afford SS rods or reels so I guess I will never know how good SS rod are. Lately all they have been trying to sale are high priced bundles and there fishing courses.

Been there done that Tony its crazy how you see some people just throw there rods in the back of there truck along with alot of times other items that could break or damage them and expect there rods to work like normal but thats todays world where common sence is gone like the wind but anyways it is what it is but speaking of rods that’s another reason why I love my st croix rods because they all do have a protective coating to protect them better kinda surprised you guys saltstrong rods don’t have this feature on them and while I do like the zip tie or even better the velcro idea of keeping the bait from banging on the rod during transit I just remove the lure entirely and you knowing that I use the bill norman speedclip on my hard plugs i just clip the clip on the lure keeper and for all my other baits like jigs and or spinnerbaits I use those gear ties that are like a very thick bread loaf tie and twist it around the lure which keeps them from moving and or banging into the rod during transit I might want to add this tip though that doesn’t have to do with fishing rods but with fishfinders and that is to remove the unit from the boat while in transit because like a rod rocks and gravel can be thrown especially if driving behind a semi or state truck that can Crack and damage the housing I do this now on every outing after reading a tips section in my florida sportsman magazine years ago I then store the unit in a 2 gallon sized zip lock plastic bag that keeps the dust and dirt from infiltrating the cable connections I also use a face cover when im not using it but the plexi glass face is exposed to the direct sun anyways just saying if common sence is used in anything in life for that matter oh how much better living can be thanks for the info and all you do

I find that bubble wrap does a good job of keeping my rods safe during transport. When I’m using my travel case, I wrap the individual pieces of each rod in the wrap so they don’t bang against each other. Thanks for the helpful video.

Good morning Tony, I just purchased the slam rod travel pack. Are you guys going to make available a secondary Butt end for this rod. I heard a rumor about this. thanks for your assistance

Good ideas Tony, i just bought a slot machine rod and already broke the tip off snapper fishing with jigs. It was definitely a bummer for sure.
