Everyone loves a 2-for-1 deal!

And our kayak angler friend Zoffinger (check out his YouTube channel here) got a great two for one deal with a pair of jacks (not to be confused with a card hand).

But the most impressive thing was watching Zoffinger dehooking these two jacks from the treble hooks without spilling his beer!

If it had been me, I can almost guarantee my rod would have knocked over my drink during the release.

Well done Zoffinger!

Another great video man.

Enjoy.

We’re not sure exactly what happened prior to a Remora being stuck on this kid’s stomach…

  • Was it a dare?
  • Was this punishment for being a bad kid on the boat?
  • Were his parent’s trying to create a memorable fishing experience that he will never forget?

Either way, we are glad they captured it on video, as this is pretty funny.

If you aren’t familiar with a Remora, they are also sometimes called “Suckerfish” because they have a sucker-like organ that takes suction on host marine animals such as sharks, whales, big rays, pelagic fish, etc.

The big fish enjoys the company of the remora because remoras remove parasites and loose flakes of skin, while the remora gets protection and endless supplies of food.

It’s a win-win for everyone (except the kid in the video of course).

Enjoy.

It’s that time again…

Freshwater Friday!

Earlier this week we had a video that went crazy viral of a Texas surf fisherman using his drone to drop his bait out up to 500 yards off the beach (you can watch that awesome video here).

So we figured we would follow it up to close out the week with another great drone fishing video…

This time, it was to set a record for the largest fish ever caught on a drone (to top it off, it was being attempted while ice fishing).

The two guys in the video are the hosts of a popular YouTube channel called “Uncut Angling” where some crazy Canadians do all kinds of funny and extreme fishing.

In this video, they set out to see if they can catch a monster fish through the ice with their drone (without ruining another drone).

His “Shoutout” to the girl is pretty darn funny!

It’s about time someone tried catching a fish bigger than a bluegill using a drone!

Check out how they fair.

Enjoy.

It’s not every day you see a shark attack on video that you can laugh about, but this one is pretty funny.

It appears that a juvenile nurse shark (which have been known to bite down and not let go) latched itself on to this guys upper leg, and it took two men to finally pry it off.

The guy is just lucky the shark wasn’t a few inches in the other direction… could have been much more painful (like this video where a triggerfish bites a diver right where it counts…)

Fortunately for the man that was “bit” by a nurse shark in the video below, he only suffered a nice welt and some slight humiliation of having his family and friends laugh at him.

What do want to make a bet that this shark went back to his shark friends and claimed he ate the guy’s leg…

Enjoy.

Important Note: Although the shark swam off safely, we do NOT advise throwing sharks (or any fish) like the guy in the video did.

The first dog that our dad let Luke and I pick out was a beagle.

I can still remember looking through the litter and beagle puppies and this one little guy kept coming over to us and rubbing up against our shoes…

We took that little dog home that day and named him Sam.

Sam was with us for an astonishing 17 years before we finally had to put him down to rest. Some great memories no doubt.

So when I was checking my inbox this morning and saw a message from a guy named Luke Swiderski that said, “Big Trophy Beagle Fishing with Extreme Florida Angler” it certainly caught my attention.

And after watching this over the top “Beagle Fishing” video, I just had to share it with you.

Some of the one-liners in here are hilarious!

Oh Buttery Beagle… Dolly Parton!”

Wait til’ you see the “Trash fish dog” they catch.

Enjoy.

Note: No dogs were hurt in the making of this film

Freshwater Friday is back!!!

I was actually in San Diego all week, took the red eye home this morning, and saw this awesome “Dog Fishing” video in my inbox…

And what perfect timing since I needed a good video to post (and it just happened to be Friday).

Check out this amazing golden retriever named “Rani” that has learned how to grab fish right off the dock!

Here are the notes from the dog’s owner:

“Rani is a golden retriever who has caught dozens of fish as well as some turtles. Watch her snatch a big bluegill out of the water. She puts the bread right under her mouth for bait.”

What a smart dog!

And we all thought the lobster diving dog was cool. This golden retriever has even figured out the baiting part of it.

Amazing.

This could be one of the best fishing videos that we have seen this year…

Not only is the message incredibly powerful, but the redfish footage is one of a kind awesome.

Color me impressed Shallow Water Expeditions!

They do an amazing job of hitting us all over the head with what we all know to be true (that we are addicted to our cell phones), while also giving us a glimpse of how awesome it can feel when we turn the phones off and hit the water.

Aka – “Getting in touch with what really matters”

You’ll know pretty quickly why this video by our friends over at Shallow Water Expeditions is called, “Out of Touch”.

Great job guys.

Note: Give these stud anglers at Shallow Water Expeditions a shout if you are ever fishing up in the panhandle of Florida and want to get on copious amounts of fish. These guides are the real deal.

Fish On.

The last time that UCF Knights Fishing Club President Ryan Hullilan sent me a video, I was not disappointed (if you never saw the original UCF fishing video, click here to see it now)

So the other day when I saw his name in my inbox again, I quickly opened it up to see a brand spanking new video called, “Mooseville”.

Why Mooseville?

Well, probably because the entire video is these guys catching Monster Moose Reds like these!

redfish UFC knights fishing

Oh by the way, you also get to see some footage of a 40-inch redfish so hungry it hits a lure that already has a trout on it.

TWICE!

Epic.

Ryan, Eddie Twyford (the video editor/angler/VP of the UCF fishing club), and the rest of the UCF fishing crew nailed it on this one.

And after watching this, I guess I can’t blame you guys for heading east from Orlando (although there is some great inshore fishing over here on the west coast as well).

Either way, keep up the great work UCF!

redfish strong salt strong

As anglers, we all share one common bond regardless if we are freshwater or saltwater anglers…

To catch fish, to be outside, and to do everything in our power not to get skunked out on the water.

But if you really peel away at the layers of “Why people love fishing”, it has less to do with catching big fish and more to do with the unforgettable experiences and memories that are created while out on the water.

Yes, it is an amazing feeling to catch a monster fish or a new personal record (or world record).

But nothing can replace the joy of seeing kid’s catch fish…

Watching their eyes light up…

And witnessing the transformation of someone that will be forever changed due fishing.

Moreover, nothing can replace the memories that are created with friends, family, children, and loved ones out on the water.

For me, it’s why I keep going back to the water time and time again… it’s not chasing the biggest fish.

For me, it’s chasing memories, chasing exciting new adventures, and pursuing experiences with friends and family that are not replaceable with any amount of money.

The guy who created this video below is our friend Frankie Marion from Catch 1 Films.

He has filmed some of the most amazing inshore fishing films out there (like this recent redfish video), but I’m willing to bet that if you asked him about the most powerful and memorable video he ever created (and will remember forever) it would be this one with his son.

Family.

Memories.

Experiences that matter.

Even the experience of a father teaching his son about catch and release (at the end of the video).

Great stuff Frankie!
