The Fort Lauderdale locals affectionally refer to him as “RT”.
The dude had been in jail for over 18 years (for having his way with a manatee), and upon getting released (only due to overcrowding in the Brevard jail system), Ricky started trying to make money by selling Capt. Jeff Maggio’s (aka Lunkerdog) best bait spots.
I have to be honest, I always assumed being a lighthouse keeper was pretty easy work…
I mean, it’s basically just one job…
Keep the light going.
But who knew that being on certain lighthouses could be downright dangerous (and even cause death).
Just watch what these brave seaman, one heck of a boat captain, and a couple of lighthouse keepers have to through just to drop off some supplies and do a changing of the guard.
Could you imagine if this was your commute to work every day?
Amazing!
I can assure you that these Frenchmen don’t risk having any bananas on board that boat!
I stumble across some pretty interesting things when I am searching for things on the Internet for my upcoming blog posts…
And this morning, this picture below of an Amphibious RV/Boat caught my eye…
After a bit of research, I come to find out that this RV/Boat known as “Terra Wind” is not just some one of a kind RV, there are numerous of them out there!
The company that makes these over the top road/water vehicles is called CAMI (which stands for Cool Amphibious Manufactures Inc), and this RV called Terra Wind is one of many cool vehicles they develop and manufacture (you can see their full website here)
The brilliant tagline for this Terra Wind is as follows:
The Land
The Lake
The Luxury
Check out all that this expensive RV/boat can do in the video below and let us know your thoughts.
My only issue with it is that it can’t handle saltwater…
This week it is a special scented plastic fishing lure that attracts lobster strikes! The big question is can these cool and unique lobster tactics be used consistently…
At either rate, pretty wild to see this New Zealander actually land a spiny lobster (aka “crayfish”) using a plastic artificial lure from Shimano.
I’d love to see some footage like this in the Florida Keys, and I presume some lure manufacturer could make a fortune if they had a “scientifically proven” lure for lobster.
Can you imagine bringing lobster into the live well without ever getting out of the boat or soaking crab traps?
Check out how he does it here.
Note: This is the same angler from the popular fishing show “Ultimate Fishing” that wet his pants over a marlin. If you never saw that video, you’ve got to watch it here next.
Enjoy.

Just like cats, some anglers say that fish have a certain amount of lives…
Well, apparently this tripletail finally ran out of lives…
And it took Luiza (from Fishing with Luiza and co-star of Extreme Fishing Adventures with Jimmy Nelson) to finally bring this nice tripletail into a boat.
The dynamic fishing duo was out fishing near Tampa Bay with our friend Rob Chapman of Outdoors360 and Capt. Brett Norris.
You can see Rob fighting a nice tripletail towards the end of the video.
Good stuff guys!
Enjoy and best of luck with the tripletail this winter!
2015 was one heck of a year in terms of saltwater fishing videos!
With the vast majority of anglers fishing with some form of camera on board (from a GoPro to their camera phone), the amount of new fishing content is at all-time highs, and 2016 will certainly be another record breaking year.
Here are the top 7 “Viral” saltwater fishing videos from Salt Strong in 2015 based on total social shares.
Enjoy and Fish On!
1. Dolphin Captures Big Snook On Film!
This wild dolphin attacking a snook on the beach went viral on our site the minute it was released.
And it had a total of 20,329 total likes and shares on social media!
The only “Music Video” to make the top 7 list, the official “Fishing In Our Soul” video (the Salt Strong theme song) by Jill’s Cashbox came in with 15,365 total social shares and likes.
5. Diver Gets “RUN OVER” By Tuna In This Unbelievable Feeding Frenzy!
There have been numerous videos showing the wild tuna feeding frenzies in Panama, but never before had someone had the courage to jump in and film it underwater as well.

Whoever said that fly anglers didn’t have a sense of humor have never fished with Hank Patterson before…
And if you haven’t heard of Hank Patterson before, here is his bio from his YouTube channel:
Hank Patterson is a world renowned, self proclaimed fly fishing expert and guide. He is a high school graduate, makes a hell of a nice pot roast and owns three copies of “A River Runs Through It” on BluRay. Snap It!
In this video below, fly angler Hank Patterson takes out three “bait fishermen” to learn the art of fly fishing.
Can you imagine sitting on the beach enjoying a nice afternoon when a luxury boat starts coming right toward you…
You start to wonder when the driver is going to slow down, but before you know it the boat is heading through the waves and onto the beach!
You assume it will be stuck at any moment, but the boat keeps on moving forward…
And before you know it, the luxury 29-foot small yacht is up on the beach!
Now based on the landscape in the video below, you might think you would only see an over the top luxury boat like this in Dubai…
But just this weekend one of our very own Salt Strong Fishing Tribe members Christopher Sabin had one of these Iguana 29 boats shock the heck of them on Sanibel Island, FL!
Here are Chris’s notes from the Inguana encounter:
“So I’m at Sanibel Island Today With Friends and Family When a Boat appears up on the Sand Bar and just Mows up and Over it and crawls up on the beach and Parks Right next to Us ! it was an Iguana 29 foot 300hp Merc Verado and a Volkswagon 75hp Hydraulic pump driven Bobcat track System Price was $350,000.00″
And here are a few of the pics he took from Sanibel Island this weekend:
Crazy!
Thanks for sharing these Chris, and if anyone else has an Iguana encounter here in Florida let us know.
