Well, she’s done it again…

Jessica Jae (the female angler that caught the largest redfish on a barbie rod) is back with an all new video!

But this time it was our friend Jessica Jae behind the camera filming her friend Kim while she fights what has to be the largest black drum ever caught on a Barbie rod!

Here is a quick pic of Kim holding the monster black drum she caught on the Barbie rod (video is at the bottom):

This epic catch all happened on a recent girl’s trip to Louisiana, and of course, Jessica had to bring along her trusty Barbie Shakespeare pink rod.

They were fishing with well-known female angler Brittney Novalsky (Florida Sportswoman) of “Fishing Adventures with Brittney Novalsky” who put them on the amazing fish.

Check out Brittney’s adventures and awesome fishing pictures here on her blog, or here on her Facebook page.

Great job gals!

I speak for many of us anglers that would love to catch that black drum on any rod and reel combo!

Enjoy.

Sometimes it is good to see the pros have a bad day out on the water like the rest of us…

If you don’t recognize her from the thumbnail picture, this cast net kayak fail is from the popular female angler Jessica Jae.

But before we show you her cast net fail video, we want to point out all of her amazing fishing accomplishments first, because this girl can fish!

Here are just a few of the appearances Jessica Jae has made here on Salt Strong:

We appreciate the fact that she published this one as it gives hope to all of us that don’t toss a cast net pancake on every throw.

Great job Jessica. Keep up the great work.

Earlier this week, we posted a fishing video that went VIRAL where a fishing captain used a jalapeno pepper to catch redfish (you can watch it here)!

So when we came across this kayak angler using nothing but a shoestring and a hook to catch jack crevalle, we had to post it.

And to clarify, he wasn’t using a shoestring as the fishing line, he was using it as the bait!

Talk about catching fish on a shoestring budget!

Oh Snap!

The angler in the video runs the kayak fishing group “Love Kayak Fishing” and you can follow him here on Facebook.

Enjoy.

“It’s a monster Steelhead…”

This poor angler had no idea he was walking right into a huge prank…

Not only is it Freshwater Friday (where we play a freshwater fishing video every Friday morning), but it is also the day after Thanksgiving where our angler brethren from up north start thinking about ice fishing (of course, us luckly anglers in Florida are still fishing in shorts this Thanksgiving weekend).

So when we came across this hilarious (and incredibly well planned) ice fishing prank, we couldn’t help but share it with you.

I won’t ruin it for you, but let’s just say they punked this guy really well!

Enjoy, and let us know if you have seen a better fishing prank.

The Lobster Dog!!!

Now I’ve seen dogs do some pretty cool tricks, but this black lab named Lila (aka “The Lobster Dog”) has learned how to dive down in saltwater and pluck off lobster from the ocean floor!

Co-founder of “Devoted To The Ocean” Alex Schulze taught both of his dogs how to dive off the boat and grab spiny lobster from the bottom.

Here are the notes from the Devoted to the Ocean video:

“One day while out free diving, I had the idea of trying to get Lila to catch a live lobster. Sure enough she caught a lobster on her first try, and the rest was history.”

Pretty freaking awesome!

We might have to contact Devoted To The Ocean and rent their dogs next time we are down in Islamorada for Lobster Season…

Enjoy.

And big thanks to Sam Sheffield of Winter Haven, FL for sending this over to us.

We recently posted a popular blog called, “13 Of The Weirdest Baits To Ever Catch A Fish”, and in that post we asked anglers to leave a comment on any weird fishing baits that we might have left off (or haven’t heard of before).

One of the unique comments that came in from the post mentioned using, “Jalapeno Peppers to catch redfish”.

Well, after a quick search on YouTube, I found the video of Capt. Todd Casey fishing for redfish using nothing but hot peppers, and of course, I had to share it with you.

Check out what happens when he tosses out a hot pepper on a hook!

Either these redfish love spicy Mexican food or they will eat just about anything…

Enjoy.

I can’t make this bad luck bananas on board stuff up folks…

Here is a video note from our friend Capt. Ben Chancey (of Chew On This):

“After eating a banana, angler gets pulled in by a Goliath Grouper”

Now if you never read the funny (yet informative) “Top 5 Myths About No Bananas On Board Your Fishing Boat” then I highly recommend you read that here so you know exactly why bananas are bad luck on boats.

In that blog post, you will learn about all of the bad things that can happen to you if and when you decide to bring a banana on board your boat…

One of which is falling overboard…

The only good news in this video is that they actually retrieved the rod and reel, but it can only be because the banana had been discarded…

Enjoy.

Happy Freshwater Friday!

This is what happens when anglers get creative…

In this video, “Kyle The Fish Whisperer” attaches a spool of Stren fishing line to his power drill and takes a shot at catching some fish.

Little did he know that bluegill automatically start peeing when caught by a power drill…

Anyone else tried this or have any crazy stories about catching fish on something other than a rod and reel?

Let us know in the comments.

Enjoy.

She’s back…

Jessica Jae is back on Salt Strong with one of her wildest videos yet…

Live bait fishing for big redfish using a kid’s Barbie rod and reel!

After watching Capt. Krista Tucker land a redfish on barbie rod using a McDonald’s Chicken McNugget (watch that video here), we didn’t think we would see a video that could match it for a long time…

But then Jessica Jae sent us this beast of redfish that she recently (and miraculously) landed on her Barbie rod, in what might possibly be the largest redfish to ever be caught from a Barbie rod and reel.

It even looked like it was going to spool her Barbie rig there for a second.

Amazing job Jessica!

One thing is for sure…

Jessica Jae = Salt Strong

Enjoy!
