I have to be honest, I always assumed being a lighthouse keeper was pretty easy work…
I mean, it’s basically just one job…
Keep the light going.
But who knew that being on certain lighthouses could be downright dangerous (and even cause death).
Just watch what these brave seaman, one heck of a boat captain, and a couple of lighthouse keepers have to through just to drop off some supplies and do a changing of the guard.
Could you imagine if this was your commute to work every day?
Amazing!
I can assure you that these Frenchmen don’t risk having any bananas on board that boat!
With what must be his 5th or 6th appearance on Salt Strong, this cinematic Tarpon footage doesn’t disappoint.
And after the insane “viral” tarpon picture that I posted yesterday (below), I just had to follow it up with a great tarpon video.
The only thing I can think to compare Dan’s video to is the soothing feeling of watching waves roll on the beach or fire crackle in a campfire.
There is just something unexplainable about seeing the silver king rolling…
This Tarpon video by Dan Decibel (named as one of the Must Know Florida Saltwater Anglers of 2015) is called “Acension” and I think you will understand why after you see it.
Enjoy.

The rare and sometimes impossible “7-10” split can get a bowling crowd cheering more than any other roll in bowling.
It’s one thing to hit multiple strikes in a row, but the “7-10” conversion split (where you convert a spare by hitting the two farthest pins in the back down with your second roll) is like hitting a hole in one for a golfer…
Or in the case of the spearfishing video below, drilling two nice fish in one shot.
What really makes this video even better is that you can see this diver is thinking about going after the school of fish in the distance, but then he waits it out a bit more, all of a sudden two other fish appear out of the blue…
I won’t ruin it for you, check out what happens below.
Enjoy.

This week it is a special scented plastic fishing lure that attracts lobster strikes! The big question is can these cool and unique lobster tactics be used consistently…
At either rate, pretty wild to see this New Zealander actually land a spiny lobster (aka “crayfish”) using a plastic artificial lure from Shimano.
I’d love to see some footage like this in the Florida Keys, and I presume some lure manufacturer could make a fortune if they had a “scientifically proven” lure for lobster.
Can you imagine bringing lobster into the live well without ever getting out of the boat or soaking crab traps?
Check out how he does it here.
Note: This is the same angler from the popular fishing show “Ultimate Fishing” that wet his pants over a marlin. If you never saw that video, you’ve got to watch it here next.
Enjoy.

Just like cats, some anglers say that fish have a certain amount of lives…
Well, apparently this tripletail finally ran out of lives…
And it took Luiza (from Fishing with Luiza and co-star of Extreme Fishing Adventures with Jimmy Nelson) to finally bring this nice tripletail into a boat.
The dynamic fishing duo was out fishing near Tampa Bay with our friend Rob Chapman of Outdoors360 and Capt. Brett Norris.
You can see Rob fighting a nice tripletail towards the end of the video.
Good stuff guys!
Enjoy and best of luck with the tripletail this winter!
If you are an inshore angler, you are going to love this story…
It all started with a desire of one man to explore new fishing grounds and catch bigger fish.
Tony Acevedo, an Orlando area bass angler, was many miles from the nearest body of saltwater, yet he was determined to learn how to catch redfish, snook, and trout over on the east coast back in mid-2015…
So he hung up his bass fishing gear and started fishing the flats after purchasing his first kayak.
And it all started with Tony studying my brother Luke’s inshore fishing system…
If you have met my brother Luke, you know that he is WAY too modest and humble to ever toot his own horn… but that doesn’t mean that I won’t…
In one sentence, Luke is one of the most consistent inshore anglers in the state of Florida.
Period.
He has gone up against pro guides and won money in tournaments, he’ll go to brand new areas and outfish most locals, and he has what many call a “Fish Whisperer” trait that has come from decades of patiently studying fish (Luke was the kid in junior high and high school that woke up 2 hours early to go fishing almost every morning at 5:30am).
He even caught a snook from a 3rd-floor balcony (you can see that video hereif you missed it).
And he makes anglers like me look really good (I catch a significant amount of fish every year just by being in the same boat with him and imitating what he is doing).
So back to the story at hand…
This inshore angler that we have featured below is Tony Acevedo, and he had never been inshore fishing as of March of 2015.
And then he applied what he learned to out-fish many inshore anglers that have been doing it for over a decade…
Just check out Tony’s fishing card to see the fish he has been catching every month (hint: lots of grand slams – and this covers just a fraction of his catches over a short period of time).
Big kudos to you Tony.
Guys like you make it all worth it for Luke to spend as much time as he does teaching fishing.
Keep up the great work buddy!
You make us all very proud.

2015 was one heck of a year in terms of saltwater fishing videos!
With the vast majority of anglers fishing with some form of camera on board (from a GoPro to their camera phone), the amount of new fishing content is at all-time highs, and 2016 will certainly be another record breaking year.
Here are the top 7 “Viral” saltwater fishing videos from Salt Strong in 2015 based on total social shares.
Enjoy and Fish On!
1. Dolphin Captures Big Snook On Film!
This wild dolphin attacking a snook on the beach went viral on our site the minute it was released.
And it had a total of 20,329 total likes and shares on social media!
The only “Music Video” to make the top 7 list, the official “Fishing In Our Soul” video (the Salt Strong theme song) by Jill’s Cashbox came in with 15,365 total social shares and likes.
5. Diver Gets “RUN OVER” By Tuna In This Unbelievable Feeding Frenzy!
There have been numerous videos showing the wild tuna feeding frenzies in Panama, but never before had someone had the courage to jump in and film it underwater as well.
Watch what happens to this brave underwater videographer as he jumps in the middle of the feeding frenzy! No wonder over 9,000 people liked and shared this one!
There is nothing more dangerous than a marlin (or any billfish for that matter) entering your boat before they are ready to be landed… especially a decent size fish like the one in the video below…
In this case, a pretty decent size blue marlin looked like it was heading away from the boat, and then split seconds later it made a jump right back at the cockpit!
Pretty cool to see both angles of the boat.
And is it just me, or did it look like the marlin probably broke his has a big bruise on his back from nailing the rail so hard… OUCH!
Enjoy.

A couple of weeks ago we posted an incredible kayak redfish video from Strong Angler Brandon Barton called, “Now This Is How You Catch Some Monster Redfish From A Kayak” (you can watch it here)
And after checking out some of Brandon’s other videos, we came across one of him accidentally hooking into an osprey that pounced on his lure.
I’ve personally had a few birds drop down and hit my lure over the years, but I’ve never hooked an osprey!
Check out what Brandon has to do to free this bird.
What a save!
I’m not sure I would want my fingers that close to an osprey’s mouth, but it appears as though the osprey knew that he was helping.
Pretty cool!
