Check out this amazing redfish kayak footage that Strong Angler Brandon Barton sent in to us over the weekend.

It made me want to head down to Boca Grande (where I keep my kayak) and hit the backcountry.

Talk about some nice redfish landed from a yak!

One of those redfish looked like he barked at the camera…

Well done Brandon! One heck of a redfish compilation.

And if you are wondering what the cameras were doing around the 45-second mark, they were filming for the Hobie Outdoors Adventure show on NBC sports (The IFA kayak tour championship in Louisiana).

Enjoy.

When Heather recently went Goliath Grouper fishing with our friends from Big Bully Outdoors, little did she know that she would be catching not one, but TWO Goliath Grouper!

And she probably didn’t know that the water was going to be so cold that day…

But when you land your very first Goliath, it’s part of the ritual to get in the water and take a pic with the giant fish (it is illegal to take the adult Goliath Grouper out of the water for any reason fyi).

Great job Heather!

Make sure to stick around for the full video as she goes handlining for another Goliath after her cold dip in the water.

Enjoy.

Cameron Kirkconnell is no stranger to making it on Salt Strong with his epic spearfishing videos.

The guy has speared bigger fish than most anglers have caught on a rod and reel, and he has created some of the wildest and most amazing spearfishing experiences for his clients around the world.

In this video below, Cameron does some compilation pole spearing footage with his friend Logan Sterns. Here are the notes from Cameron:

Amazing watching Logan accomplish so much as a spear fisherman in the past 2 years with multiple World Records on our guided trips together. Logan started diving with me at age 13 taking my Junior Freediver Class and has since become one of the most accomplished young divers in Fort Lauderdale. These are few highlights from our year edited by Greyson Dixon. Email blueh2oboy@gmail.com if you are interested in your own Freediving and Spearfishing Adventure.

Great job guys!

FACT: When you go fishing with Brittney Novalsky, you catch big fish…

FACT: When Jessica Jae and her motley female fishing crew (Jessica, Kim, and Jacki) hit the water, there is never a dull moment…

So when I saw that these ladies all joined forces for a Louisiana road trip to fish the inshore marshes, I knew it was going to be good.

Check out some of the monster redfish and black drum they caught (a few of them on kid’s rods spooled with braid)!

Some serious beasts caught on this trip!

Well done ladies.

Who else wants to head over to Louisiana this winter for some inshore marsh fishing?

When I first saw this video, I was scratching my head wondering why this angler was putting on his fins to get in the water…

And then it all made sense when the music started playing…

The guy just needed a hug.

I’ve seen a lot of different poses with Goliath Grouper, but this one takes the cake.

And the Whitney Houston “Bodyguard” music couldn’t have been any more appropriate.

Enjoy the video below, and do not try this at home.

Glad to see the Goliath Grouper swim off (probably humming that darn Whitney Houston song).

Capt. Robert Rohmann at Avid Charters took it to a whole new level on this inshore fishing video.

Can you imagine how much more exciting saltwater fishing would be if every guide and charter captain made a video like this!

If you are ever over on Florida’s Space Coast and want to catch some monster inshore fish from Mosquito Lagoon, to Indian River Lagoon, down to Jupiter, check out Avid Charters.

Their video does a pretty good job of showing you what kind of fun they have out on the water.

Great job guys.

Some amazing footage.

Can you imagine sitting on the beach enjoying a nice afternoon when a luxury boat starts coming right toward you…

You start to wonder when the driver is going to slow down, but before you know it the boat is heading through the waves and onto the beach!

You assume it will be stuck at any moment, but the boat keeps on moving forward…

And before you know it, the luxury 29-foot small yacht is up on the beach!

Now based on the landscape in the video below, you might think you would only see an over the top luxury boat like this in Dubai…

But just this weekend one of our very own Salt Strong Fishing Tribe members Christopher Sabin had one of these Iguana 29 boats shock the heck of them on Sanibel Island, FL!

Here are Chris’s notes from the Inguana encounter:

“So I’m at Sanibel Island Today With Friends and Family When a Boat appears up on the Sand Bar and just Mows up and Over it and crawls up on the beach and Parks Right next to Us ! it was an Iguana 29 foot 300hp Merc Verado and a Volkswagon 75hp Hydraulic pump driven Bobcat track System Price was $350,000.00″

And here are a few of the pics he took from Sanibel Island this weekend:

Crazy!

Thanks for sharing these Chris, and if anyone else has an Iguana encounter here in Florida let us know.

If you have followed us here at Salt Strong for any amount of time, you probably know we are big advocates of catch and release fishing.

Must read related post: How To Properly Catch & Release Fish Without Killing Them”

Does that mean we don’t ever keep fish for dinner?

Heck no.

What it really means is we only keep a fish if we really need it for food.

Just because there are limits in place for a certain fish doesn’t mean we need to hit them… if we all limited out every day there would be nothing left for the next generation.

And that’s one of many reasons that we like the blokes from Morningtide Fishing so much. These guys are legit. Here are just a few other reasons to subscribe to these Morningtide anglers:

  • They are extreme.
  • They are entertaining.
  • You never know what they heck they are going to do in their wild land-based fishing videos.
  • They respect the fish (perhaps more than anyone in the world).

Check out what they do in this sick video below to land this fish.

Awesome sauce!

You guys are certainly Salt Strong!

Now we are just waiting on our invitation to go fish with the Morningtide guys so we can hand deliver them some Salt Strong gear

As if there weren’t enough reasons to want to visit New Zealand already, apparently they have a crazy amount of spiny lobster (also called “Crayfish” in places like Australia and New Zealand, and called “Kreef” in South Africa) that will give goosebumps to any Florida spiny lobster diver…

The only lobster footage that can compete with this is the viral video called “The Most Lobster Ever Caught On Film In Florida” (a must-watch if you haven’t seen it).

Check out what the team from Ultimate Fishing TV find when they visit the Dusky Sound Fiordland National Park in New Zealand.

Notice that in many areas it is so shallow they can stand up. Talk about a great place to teach kids how to catch lobster.

If you can’t catch a lobster here, you probably can’t catch one anywhere…

Also, if you want some free tips on how to catch lobster in the Florida Keys, here is a great tutorial video.
