Went out today looking to do some bottom fishing, maybe a king or cobia. I get slammed first thing and my wire leader was snipped. Retired and threw out another sardine and waited. About 10 minutes later my bait gets slammed and my reel was nearly spooled before I turned the fish. Figured it was a smoker King and to my surprise this guy starts showing color. My first African Pompano. Took him in and weighed him, he was 28.5 lbs, 40" at the fork.
