I know this isn't a saltwater fish, but this was a nice little bonus for my quick trip. I was fishing the mouth of a small river where I was killing the trouts and reds. I have caught super small Largemouthd further back in the river but I nailed the stud largemouth just under the mouth of the river next to a seawall. There was something chasing a small minnow next to the wall so I threw that way but was not expecting that to end up on the end of my line. Haven't done a lot of freshawater fishing since I was a kid, and this is the biggest largemouth I have caught since I was a child.
Saturday afternoon, Sandy Hook, NJ. Weatherman says the cold weather is supposed to roll in tomorrow so Lara and I took advantage of the beautiful day to do some surf fishing. Released this one of course...
Great day on Cape Cod Canal! Kept these 2 beauties for the grill, and released a bunch more, including a 40" porker, which unfortunately I had taken my hat off in the picture...so the pic doesn't count!
This was the highlight of my day! Eventhough I was trying to catch sheepshead, this fight was waaaaay better. I had never hooked into a little striped bass before and this dude took off for the races. He tried to cut me off by going under the bridge where the oysters started to collect, but thankfully I was able to pull him out. By time he surfaced I was in shock by what it was. A nearby fisherman used his net to help me get him to the bank. When I put him on ice, I knew that was gonna be the cuisine for the night.
