Another amazing fish from offshore today
Caught this Skipjack trolling in the beautiful waters of Puerto Rico.
Schools and schools running but only hooked up with two! I will study tonight and figure out what it is they will hit. POW!
Got to love riding 10' off a shrimp boat 25 miles offshore and dropping chum to pull the fish off the shrimpers. It's a different kind of fishing
Live baiting mullet behind shrimp boat
Yellowfin tuna chunking behind shrimp boats
Went out to the Elbow (about a 75 mile run out of Johns Pass) and trolled for pelagic's. We were busy with Blackfin (largest was 30 lbs), Dolphin, Bonita, and Cuda. It's beautiful out there. Our target is Blue Marlin and Sailfish.
This is a great little skipjack tuna that will soon be on tonights menu
Caught yellow tail on 20lbs line off Baja
This little black fin chomped a ballyhoo just a few minutes after resetting the lines on 140 ft
Fishing for Mahi and we're catching a few bonita and Mahi, then this fat Blackman showed up, thought it was another bonita until it surfaced.
After bad weather all last week and not catching anything Monday when I went out, finally had a decent day on Friday but just now getting to post these pictures. This is the first fish I have gotten to get a picture with after having my Fishing Team shirt almost two weeks. A small little tunny but always a great fight. There were tons of them along with Spanish mackerel just off the beach afte the sun got up, but had no luck in getting a Spanish to hit.
Ventured offshore today, launched from south of Hillsboro inlet. Trolling an xrap and a blue and white feather while paddling out to bluewater I saw a few decent sized football shaped fish skyrocket a few hundred yards from me. So I headed that direction about five minutes later the blue and white feather gets blasted and my reel starts sing my favorite song. Only fish of the day on an artificial and nothing on live bait all day.
Got this nice little tunny as lunch was almost done on the grill. Always live fighting them!
Had an awesome day on the water with a few blackfin tuna and a baker's dozen mahi. Thank you Salt Strong for the awesome coozie!
Caught off Savannah...daughter met me at the dock to check out the catch!
First offshore trip of the season
First blackfin ever and nearly broke the record at sailfish marina
