Can you imagine cleaning a fish (with blood and guts dripping down in the water as well) while sharks swam by your feet in less than a foot of water?

Sounds crazy right?

Well at Compass Cay in the Bahamas, this kind of fish cleaning setup just comes with the territory.

In fact, this locally-famous dock is under water most of the day, and the dock routinely has the local sharks hanging out to get sun and a free meal.

But don’t worry, these are just harmless nurse sharks that have pretty much become as tame as hamster that a 3rd grader would have in their room.

And in my personal opinion, these nurse sharks are safer than any cat out there…but that’s another story…

You probably can’t read the small wooden sign in front of the guy cleaning the fish, but it says, “Meet our Pet Sharks…”

Pretty cool stuff!

Compass Cay Sharks = Salt Strong

This scuba diver got a little more than he bargained for when he signed up the “Feed the Hammerhead Sharks” in the Bahamas earlier this year…

What normally is a fun and easy going (yet still adrenaline rushing) experience of feeding sharks, turned a bit more scary for one diver as a huge hammerhead started getting a bit aggressive with him.

In fact, the hammerhead tried to make a run at the diver (that was feeding him) multiple times.

But although I am sure had I been the diver in this video I would have described to everyone that it was a “terrifying shark attack”, this video clearly isn’t a “Great Hammerhead Shark Attack”…more of a shark attempted attack…

And is it just me, or was that Hammerhead Shark laughing at the 2:00 minute mark while he was eating?

The first time I saw it, I swear he was laughing while chomping down on the bait he took from the diver.

Leave me a comment and let me know if you think the hammerhead was laughing or not.

Most saltwater anglers know how hard it is to catch a bonefish.

They are finicky fish (they are scared of their own shadow), not to mention they have an uncanny ability to find habitats that basically mirror and camouflage the bonefish from predators and anglers.

So when we came across this amazing bonefish video by Patrick Rhea of LivitFilms, we had to post it.

Not just for the great footage of the backcountry Bahamas bonefishing action, but for the amazing job with this 2-minute film. For those of you that are into videography, you will certainly have an appreciation for Patrick’s work like I do.

This amazing video footage shows a massive school of bonefish offshore for a mating ritual in The Bahamas.

Dr. Andy Danylchuk (UMass Amherst), Dr. Aaron Adams (Bonefish & Tarpon Trust/Florida Institute of Technology), Dr. Jon Shenker (Florida Institute of Technology), and Zack Jud (Florida International University) performed a study about spawning habits of bonefish.

In the study, they confirmed that bonefish form massive spawning aggregations at very specific locations during specific lunar days.
