I was scanning for new videos over the weekend and a video about Billfish Research Teaser came up in my feed.

The cool news was that it wasn’t talking about a teaser for bringing the billfish close to the boat, it was a video teaser. And here I though research was always boring…

In this video, saltwater fly angler and president of the Billfish Research Project, Jamie Walker, is explaining (and showing) what they are doing with billfish.

Haven’t heard of the Billfish Research Project before?

Here is their mission. You can check out more here on their website after you watch the video below.

The mission of The Billfish Research Project is to pursue collaborative efforts between the science and sportfishing communities to enhance the billfish research knowledge base. The results of these efforts will be communicated to fisheries management policy makers, the scientific community and to the worldwide sportfishing community.

Great job Luke Pearson and Lawson Barnes!

Enjoy.

Do you know which fish is the fastest fish in the sea?

And have you heard of Roberta Mancino before?

Well, you are about to see the two collide (almost literally)…

Because the fastest fish in the ocean is the sailfish, and one of the bravest gals in the ocean is Roberta Mancino, and she is on a mission to go swimming with sailfish.

Roberta Mancino is known as the attractive daredevil skydiver, but apparently she also has no fear underwater adventure either.

In this amazing underwater footage from Mexico, Roberta swims with huge manta rays, gets some unbelievable footage with a whale shark, then finally gets her chance to dive with, dance with, and dodge the fastest fish in the world… the sailfish.

So cool!

These amazing sailfish reach speeds up to 110km per hour, and you can see in this video just how quick they move and trap bait with their sword-like bill.

Well done Roberta Mancino!

Another awesome stunt!

And great job to the fastest fish in the ocean for showing up in perfect form at the last second.

Enjoy.

Wow!

Talk about nailing every single point about why people love saltwater kayak fishing so much.

What a video!

I recall a few weeks ago when we interviewed angler Nick Lytle for our podcast (you can listen to the interview here) that he talked about one thing he loved so much about kayak fishing was the fact that you could hear everything.

Fish moving, mullet jumping, birds swooping down on bait… if you are quite and keep your ears perked, you can hear everything while kayak fishing.

In other words, a big part of kayak fishing is listening and being able to experience and hear nature around you while you hunt for fish.

So it was no surprise to hear kayak angler Jim Sammons mention the same thing.

He then goes on to talk about the “electricity” that hits his hands every time a fish hits the reel, not to mention, gets some outstanding footage from some nice fish (like the sailfish, Mahi, and tarpon he lands towards the end).

Great job Jim Sammons of the Kayak Fishing Show!

Enjoy.

Have you ever heard of Alphonse Island?

Most people probably haven’t because it’s a private island in Seychelles that only a very small percentage of Americans ever get to see in their lifetime…

And the place is LOADED with saltwater game fish!

Regardless if you’ve heard of the island or not, after you see this fishing footage from Alphonse, the exclusive island will certainly be on your bucket list.

I mean, check out the little island where they eat lunch every day below!

Also, can you imagine catching a super inshore grand slam topped off with a GT and a billfish or two all in the same day!

Sick!

This Alphonse footage was filmed and edited by Black Fly Eyes, and according to the video this footage below is just the trailer (so there is full-length video coming as well).

We’ll keep you posted when we see it.

Enjoy.

Fishing for billfish is an enormous challenge… a lot has to go right to even hook into one of these amazing fish.

And a lot can go wrong quickly at any time during the battle when fighting one of these amazingly fast fish that often take to the air. This is especially true when a billfish of any kind goes on a jumping tirade near the boat as we’ve seen previously in these videos:

This latest video shows a lively sailfish that invited itself inside the boat surprising all anglers on board…

Fortunately, the brave mate reacted quickly and wrestled it down before it hurt anybody.

P.S. – To see just how powerful the sailfish’s thrashing truly was, just watch what happens to the rod in the corner holder.

P.P.S. – If you think your friends would find like this awesome video, please share it with them – I’d really appreciate it.

That’s no typo folks.

These people released 197 Sailfish in 4 days. They even landed (and released) a Blue Marlin during their 4-day fish-fest just to spice things up a bit…

So where did all of this sailfish madness take place?

It was down in the sailfish mecca known as Los Suenos, Costa Rica… and the people in the video are the Tambass Charters team, along with the crew of Fish Tank.

According to the group, they had multiple double sailfish hook-ups, a triple sailfish hookup, and even a 5 banger hookup! That is crazy!

Who’s coming with me to Los Suenos to fish with the “Fish Tank?

P.S. – If you think your angler friends would find this video as awesome as I did, please share it with them – I’d really appreciate it.

Did you know that these Atlantic Sailfish can reach speeds up to 68 miles per hour! That is faster than a Prius!

Now you know why we thought Roberta Mancina was so crazy to go swimming with sailfish in the wild video she made (you can see it here).

Although you never see a human in this video below, there was clearly a dare-devil on the other end of this camera to make this video, and he or she just might be the STRONGEST (and bravest) person of the week.

Just wait until you see how close these super-fast sailfish get next to the camera why they are hunting!

It is so cool to see these fast fish spear the bait all while moving in a thousand different directions. Not to mention, check out how the sailfish changes color as it hunts.

Pretty amazing stuff!

If you like this video below, please don’t forget to share with your friends.

Ever since we had the pleasure of interviewing Darcizzle (from Darcizzle Offshore – you can watch the interview here), we have kept a close eye on the big things she is doing out in the fishing world.

In particular, her burning desire to open up new doors for women in fishing, to get more young girls out on the water, and to make sure that all of the women know that fishing isn’t just a “Man’s Sport”.

Well after you see Darcizzle captain a boat, help a mate land a nice shark, and even land a beautiful sailfish herself in the video below, we think that you will become a fan of Darcizzle as well.

If you still need more proof, here is another great video we featured from Darcizzle called “The Darcizzle Snook-a-Thon” (watch it here).

Enjoy!

When I think fishing for sailfish, the last thing I think of is catching them on anything but a rod and reel.

And I certainly didn’t I think I would see someone in Pompano Beach, FL catching a sailfish on a Cuban YoYo!

But Team Googan strikes again!

Yes, this is the same lip gripping, line ripping, bad a$$ angler from south Florida that:

  • Caught the two slot snook from a Spiderman rod (see that video here)
  • Catches a nice snook on the same YOYO from his kayak (see that video here)

So hat’s off to our friend Team Googan down in South Florida for catching a sailfish with a Cuban YoYo!

Simply amazing video man (and well-paired music as well)!

Enjoy and don’t forget to SHARE this with a friend that loves fishing! Pa-POW!
