Slob.

Lunker.

Mogan.

Beast.

Pig.

No matter what you call it, landing a 40+ inch snook is something special…

And it’s a fish that drives many inshore anglers crazy.

Why?

Let’s just say there is a reason a snook reaches 40+ inches…

It’s been able to outsmart, outswim, and survive many years of anglers throwing plugs, live bait, and flies in its face.

Not to mention, avoid being eaten by sharks and dolphin…

So it’s no easy feat to get one of these monsters to inhale your lure or topwater plug.

Just ask Capt. Archie Hager…

He’s been down near Boca Grande chasing slobs for years.

Wait until you see the video he, Jeff Thompson, and Mac Hoover put together.

Snook STRONG!

Enjoy and well-done gents.

Conclusion

Pretty awesome snook video, huh?

It certainly has me itching to go searching for 40+ inches on topwater.

There’s just nothing like seeing one of these big girls come up and hit something on the surface.

So what’s your biggest snook?

Let me know in the comments.

Well, here’s some proof that it doesn’t need to be warm in order to land a slob snook on a topwater lure…

In fact, it was sub-60 degrees according to angler Lawson Lindsey who caught this really nice snook on a topwater red/white Heddon Spook.

Watch as Lawson stays perfectly calm after a few missed strikes and sets the hook once he feels the fish on.

Well done man!

The biggest mistake many anglers make in a situation like this is trying to set the hook during one of those misses.

This will make any fisherman want to throw on a topwater and go after some lunker linesiders.

Enjoy and Fish On!

Holy Goliath Grouper Honey Hole!

After watching countless videos of anglers pulling up Goliath Grouper in and around the famous old phosphate dock at Boca Grande, I always knew that there must be a bunch of them down there.

And after fishing around this area many times and getting broken off in the pilings, I knew there must have been tons of grouper down there…

But I had no idea it was packed wall to wall with them.

Make sure to watch the entire video to see just how big this school of Goliath Grouper really is.

Wowzers!

The diver, explorer, and photographer David Vanden Bosch (aka Diver Dave) was the guy who captured all of this amazing footage last month while down at the bottom of the old Boca Grande Phosphate Dock.

To say that those old pillars were LOADED with fish is an understatement.

Not only did he find what could be the world record Goliath Grouper hideout, but he also saw snook, snapper, spadefish, and even a toadfish!

Great job David! Thank you for sharing this amazing dive with us.

I know there are countless anglers that have always wondered what the view was like down there.

Enjoy.

Here’s some proof that even the jungle snook of Panama can’t resist a bucktail jig!

Check out this cool footage from angler “Sam the Man” while fishing for Snook up a Jungle River on the Caribbean side of Panama.

I’m curious to how deep the water was. It looked like the snook went down quite a bit, but then again the water was jungle dirty!

Either way, this video is just one more reason to head to Panama.

Enjoy.

It’s Barbie rod time!

In particular, a Barbie snook catching compilation from good ol’ Team Googan.

We hadn’t seen much from Team Googan after he made multiple appearances on Salt Strong last year with videos such as:

  • “Watch This Kayak Angler Fight A Tarpon On A Spiderman Rod!” (see it here)
  • “Angler Throws One-Handed Cast Net Pancake While Talking On The Phone” (see it here)

But he’s back, and this time with some great snook footage all while using kid’s fishing rods.

He even has one rod snap in half!

Enjoy.

Note: If you do attempt to catch snook on Barbie rods, do not use the line that comes standard with the reel (it will most likely end up as trash in the water). You will need to re-spool with heavier test line.

Holy Snook School!

Spearfisherman Justin Buehler recently went diving in the Miami inlet (the edge of the inlet dredge) to do some spearfishing and came across this massive school of spawning snook!

Talk about a snook honey hole!

See if you can find the hogfish and a few grouper in the mix.

Do you have any footage of monster schools of snook like this?

Let us know as we’d love to feature it.

Enjoy.

4-year old Kellan Hunt has done it again…

Talk about putting on a fishing clinic.

In just one afternoon this little guy lands more snook than many adults will land in an entire year… all from a stand-up paddleboard!

Check out how many snook and trout he lands while out fishing with his dad (Courtland Hunt from the viral Glock lionfish video) and his legendary inshore guide Capt. Scott Moore.

I think we can all agree that we need more young kids like this getting involved in fishing. Makes me smile seeing how much this young man loves the sport.

More tackle boxes and fewer Xboxes!

Enjoy.

What a snook honey hole!

Although it appears as though it might be in a marina, it’s still awesome to see so many snook packed in there like that!

Check out how many linesiders are down under the dock waiting for their turn.

Heck, even a few catfish showed up to the feeding party.

Certainly NOT the biggest school of snook ever recorded on film (like this epic school of snook), but certainly up there in numbers.

Great job by angler Justin Sikora for filming this on his GoPro. I loved how crystal clear it was down there.

Snook Strong!

Enjoy.

Not since the super-viral video, “Dolphin Captures Big Snook On Film” have we seen a snook manhandled this badly by a porpoise on film…

Sadly, another snook bites the dust by the snout of a dolphin.

In this video, Angler Jeff Palmer filmed this dolphin playfully flinging a snook before grabbing it and taking it with him for his next meal.

And as you will see in this up and close footage, the dolphin was stunning the snook (not really “toying or playing” with it) before putting an end to the fun.

Nature at work.

Big thanks to our friend Rob Chapman for sending this over.
