Apparently Ryan Sansoucy and Conway Bowman didn’t watch the video on our website about why you NEVER want to hook a Mako Shark near your boat…

(It was called, “This Is Why You NEVER Want To Hook A Mako Shark Next To Your Boat” – you can watch it here)

These guys are NUTS!

As if there wasn’t already enough challenge in landing the powerful and high-flying Mako Sharks, Ryan and Conway decided to try it while on a stand-up paddleboard (SUP)… all while using a fly rod.

The only positive thing they had in their favor was that the Mako Sharks around them were not 500lb+ beasts, but still an incredibly wild fishing experience nonetheless.

Just imagine how fast your heart would be beating when the mako shark is right up next to your paddleboard and you are attempting your first release!

Would you do this?

And in this wild video below, Team Googan is going after Tarpon… using nothing but 10lb braid on a kid’s “Amazing Spiderman Fishing Rod”.

Not to mention, he is doing this in his kayak right out in front of South Beach, Miami.

Epic.

The OFFICIAL Spiderman Tarpon video is at the bottom of this post, but I wanted to post his amazing “Spiderman Rod Review” here as well. He even hooks a shark on it while doing the review!

Captain Ben Chancey of Chew on This has done it again!

After being the very first to document a Goliath Grouper catch from a kayak (watch that here), Capt. Ben took it to a whole new level by going after a monster Goliath on a paddleboard!

Amazing job getting back on the board (after being flipped off), and amazing feat no doubt.

Keep the big fish coming Capt. Chancey!

No one ever said Goliath Grouper fishing was easy…

These monster fish can weigh upwards of 800lbs, they can snap big game fishing rods right in half (like they do in this video), and they can be incredibly tough to land if you don’t know what you are doing.

They can also be incredibly tough to land from a kayak (or paddleboard if anyone has tried that yet).

Watch what happens as Capt. Ben Chancey’s buddy attempts to land a Goliath Grouper from a kayak.

And check out that big Goliath pulling him around like a rag doll once he gets back in the kayak.

Redfish Strong!

Check out this awesome skinny water redfish video from Chris Lewis of Skinny Water Culture.

In the video below, Chris is out fly fishing on his SUP (Stand up paddleboard for the layperson), and comes across a small school of redfish back in the skinny water of the Everglades.

Loved seeing the redfish take off leaving the mud dust trail behind.

Nice red, nice music, and nice video Chris!

Nothing like the adrenaline rush of fighting a nice shark while on a paddleboard!

And our friend Peter Miller (host of Bass 2 Billfish) shows you exactly how it’s done (without falling over).

You can see a couple of times the shark makes a cut back at Peter and his SUP, forcing Peter to adjust and rebalance so he doesn’t end up wet (and on top of the shark).

The water color is amazing down there in the Florida Keys, and great job of handling the shark on your SUP like a champ!

Well this is a first for us on Salt Strong…

The first video we ever posted out of Scotland!

And a good one at that. Much better to have a heroic dolphin save be your nation’s first Salt Strong video than one like “Girls Play Pin The Catfish On Each Other But Never Expected This(watch that one here next if you haven’t seen it yet).

In this video, a few kayakers are out in near the Isle of Barra, Scotland enjoying a nice morning paddle, when they come across a dolphin that is badly stuck (and appears to be somewhat injured) in the thick seaweed in very shallow water.

After helping this lost and stuck dolphin out of the seaweed forest, the dolphin joins up with his two pals and puts on an aerial display of appreciation for the kayakers.

Making this the ultimate dolphin rescue out of kayaks.

Well done Clearwater Paddling crew!

These guys are WAY too calm to be standing up on paddleboards chasing a great white shark around!

I think most people would have been laying down on their board and looking for the closest beach.

But thanks to Courtney Hemerick and the Current Crew team of extreme paddleboarders, we all get to experience what it would be like to be just a few feet away from a great white shark while standing up on a paddleboard.

And like I have said numerous times this week, it’s almost as if the sharks know that it is shark week!

Well done sharks!

If you have been to our site before, you know that Captain Ben Chancey of Chew on This is a seasoned pro at catching monster fish out of a kayak.

In fact, it was his video that first surfaced proving that a Goliath Grouper could be landed from a kayak (see that video here).

Ironically, he was using the exact same kayak as he was in this video that he just published yesterday…

However, this video of Capt. Ben taking on a huge shark from a kayak has a different result… and I still can’t believe how it ended.

I won’t ruin it for you, but let’s just say Captain Ben is one lucky fisherman!
