Last week Luke and I went fly fishing with some guys up in north Michigan.

While we were having some evening cocktails after a fun day of being out on the river, I asked one of the guys we were with what his all-time favorite saltwater fishing video was.

His reply…

“The video where the two guys catch monster tarpon from a float tube in the middle of a jungle”

After a few quick YouTube searches, I found what I was looking for… the “Tapam” tarpon trailer.

The trailer alone won an award from the Drake fly fishing video awards back when it was launched, and after watching it I realized why everyone likes it so much.

In an area of the Central American jungle where most of us wouldn’t be caught with our foot hanging off a boat, these guys are out there with their feet dangling from float tubes all day long.

Just wait until you see some of the monster tarpon they catch towards the end. They even do a great job on the conservation side of things. Not only that, but one of the anglers lands a monster permit as well.

I can only imagine inshore slam was going through their heads after that!

The two guys who made (and star in) the video are Jan Kristensen and Daniel Goz, and the video below is actually a trailer for their full-length film called “Tapam The Movie”.

Talk about a “Salmon Run!”

When this angler went Atlantic salmon fishing in Finnmark, he had no idea that he would hook into a salmon that would drag him over a full kilometer of rocks, rapids, and water before finally giving up.

The angler even had a 400-meter sprint in knee deep water where he took a spill or two…

He must certainly love “Rock & Roll!”

Well done on the amazing catch and release.

We came across this amazing video of Meredith McCord catching two fish on two different fly rods with the Casting Tails team, and we couldn’t wait to post it.

At one point, she even has one of the fly rods (with a fish on) in between her legs while she hooks the second one.

And all while looking incredibly sporty in her tennis/fishing skirt.

Well done Meredith!

Even though everywhere you look these days there are more signs of American youth stuck to a phone chasing Pokemon, don’t forget that there are also some young anglers like these two brothers chasing tarpon and billfish with a rod and reel.

I recently came across this top-notch short film by the LaCalle brothers (Will and Jack) as they took a trip over to shores of Guatemala, to the Gulf of Mexico, and then to the lowlands of Florida as they pursued large game fish on fly.

Check out the highlights of their trip.

Holy Giant Trevally Awesomefest!

Ever since YETI Coolers sold $100 million of stainless steel cups, they have been putting out some pretty amazing short film features.

But this one takes the cake!

In this video, YETI follows around the Alphonse Fishing Company as they wade the flats of the Cosmoledo Atoll (aka “Cosmo”, which is part of the Seychelles chain of islands), hoping for a shot at Giant Trevally.

They catch everything from bonefish to permit to triggerfish and then go after the monster GTs!

If you don’t get fired up about fishing around the 5:40 mark and beyond, then you don’t love flats fishing.

That music combined with the absolute annihilation of GTs is pretty epic.

Oh, and be prepared for an emotional ending.

Is there anything better than seeing a redfish coming out of the water and hitting a topwater plug, fly, or popper in less than two feet of water?

I think not.

And if you agree, then you will absolutely love seeing this sight fishing redfish video below (even if you aren’t a fly angler).

Countless redfish attacks, some up close shots of the reds smacking the fly, and even some shots of the landed fish towards the end.

Ever heard of a Redfish Machine Gun?

Until I saw this video, I had never heard of one either.

But apparently they are brutally strong, accurate, and fun to shoot.

And if you have a fishing buddy that is annoying you, it is a great way to knock them in the water. Haha.

The guys from Badfish looked like they had a great time filming this footage of some flood tide fly fishing around Jacksonville Beach, FL.

Step over Nicaragua jungle tarpon, the Costa Rican poon has taken center stage!

If you missed the viral tarpon video “Jungle Tarpon Captured On Slo-Mo Film” (you can watch it here now), you might recall that they were back in the Nicaraguan jungle chasing down some monster tarpon.

And until now, there wasn’t a jungle tarpon video that could compete…

Well, in this brand new video from Solid Adventures attempts to knock Nicaragua off it’s thrown as the jungle tarpon capital of the world.

Just wait until you see what these anglers go through to get a shot at the silver king!

They have to jump in the jungle water and dive under branches to free line, they have to wade in water that is full of crocs, and they even save goats and baby horses along the way…

Well done guys.

Amazing video. Makes me want to head back to Costa Rica!
