We’ve had some great videos come out of Australia recently.

And this one is pretty darn amazing!

Not only does this fearless dog swim towards the sharks, but he dives down underwater, and then the dog bites the shark on the tail!

Even the guy filming was ecstatic to capture his dog biting a shark on film!

I can’t blame him, although I might have been slightly more concerned when I saw my dog underwater for so long with a shark.

But the dog prevailed.

Enjoy.

When you are a young kid, any fish larger than your hand seems huge.

And most young kids are completely content catching anything that will bite their line…big or small.

So when we saw this young boy on a dock with his family pop up, hit the beach, and take his shoes off to go get a fish that was under the dock, we were sucked right in…

I kept thinking to myself, there is no chance this kid is going to get that fish with a dip net that was half the size of the fish…

And there is no chance that fish is going to stick around very long…

But apparently it was this kid’s lucky day…

And it was a bad day for the fish, as I can only assume he fed a handful of happy kids that evening…

Great job young man!

P.S. – the video notes said the fish was a sheepshead, but it was tough to tell from the footage. Either way, amazing job.

The Giant Trevally (GT) is known as one of the most powerful fish in the sea.

They are a highly sought after sport fish, and to catch a big GT (they get well over 100 pounds) on a fly rod is usually on the bucket list of most avid fly anglers.

These GT are basically built like NFL running backs…

Muscular shoulders, streamlined, and a powerful tail that can sometimes be up to almost half of the size of the fish…giving these GTs some serious get up and go.

In this video, you can see this big pod of bait close to shore, while a blacktip shark slowly approaches from the bottom…

Little does the shark know that he is about to get “nature punked” by 5 incredibly fast Giant Trevally…

These 5 Giant Trevally attack with wicked speed, using their superior swimming abilities and power to hunt and smash the bait fish ball.

And if the GT doesn’t engulf the prey within the first strike, the prey is usually stunned or dead from the strike impact.

Amazing footage of Giant Trevally feeding near the shore!

Sorry shark…better luck next time.

It’s not everyday that you see a sharks smoking a topwater lure…

In fact, most anglers rarely get a glimpse of a shark aggressively going after their lure like they do in this video.

And that is what makes Josh Jorgensen’s (the guy behind BlacktipH) video so amazing…

Not only does he have up close footage of a blacktip shark attacking his topwater lures, he has numerous clips of different sharks coming up for a shot at his topwater plug.

At one point, it looked like two blacktip sharks were fighting over the lure.

Amazing footage Josh!

And according to the video description, this wild footage took almost two months to capture during the blacktip shark migration in Florida.

Glad you took the time to do this one. Definitely one of our favorites yet.

Can you say EXTREME bodyboarding?

I can vividly remember my brother Luke spending every summer of our youth on the white beaches of Daytona Beach, Florida.

Our grandparents had a condo right on the beach, and Luke and I would spend months at a time there during the summer.

I can also vividly recall the day our parents bought us our first “Boogie Boards”.

We were so excited to go ride those 1 foot waves that we couldn’t think about anything else…

So when I came across this epic body boarding (Bodyboarding is also referred to as Boogieboarding due to the invention of the “Boogie Board” by Tom Morey) video, I couldn’t help but start thinking about the old days of riding waves…

And then wishing I was one of the guys in this video.

Great stuff!

Check out the scene at 5:55 mark (guy almost gets plowed)

The Living Sea put together an amazing video on these baby Loggerhead sea turtles coming out of their eggs and hitting the ocean for the very first time.

Disoriented due to seeing light for the first time, they call kind of scatter at first, and then it appears they find their way to the water (at least most of them do).

Pretty incredible footage, and a pretty moving scene.

It is easy to see why sea turtle activists are so adamant about protecting the turtle hatching areas on beaches.

Australian angler Brendon Hilder went down to Shelly Beach in Western Australia with nothing but a hand line, a hook, some bait, and a dream to catch some dinner from the beach…

But after seeing a shark that had spooked away most of the fish that he was going after, he decided to see if the shark would bite…

And boy did it.

It turned out to be a 12ft shark (4 meters)…much more than Brendon bargained for with his hand line.

After an agonizing TWO HOUR fight using nothing but his hands and body to maneuver and fight the huge shark, Brendon finally had to get a little help from on onlooker for the last bit of the fight.

In Brendon’s own words, “A 4m shark has a fair bit of pull on it. I was absolutely knackered … I couldn’t even hold my handle, I was that buggered.”

Unfortunately Brendon was so “Buggered” that he didn’t have an ounce of energy (or time) to take any video footage. There are a few clips on the web from onlookers, but none of them really do it justice.

Two summers ago my family and I went to Destin Beach, Florida to relax, get some sun, have a few adult drinks, and to show our daughter how to build sand castles.

I recall our young daughter not wanting to go into the ocean the entire trip.

Perhaps she knew something we didn’t…like the fact that there might have been a large hammerhead shark at Destin Beach that day as well…

In all seriousness, the chance of you ever getting attacked by a shark are pretty slim considering how many people are in the ocean every day compared to how many actually get bitten by a shark.

But this is still a great reminder to keep you eyes peeled while out in the ocean, and everyone once in a while it actually pays to listen to someone from New Jersey yelling “Hammerhead Shark” from a balcony.

There are three things that can instantly bring a crowd together on a public beach…

  1. The Ice cream truck
  2. Anything Free
  3. A big fish, shark, or Goliath Grouper being landed on a crowded beach

In this case it was #3…

And it was a huge Goliath Grouper that was landed on a public beach in Naples, FL

As you can see from the video, the angler hooked the large Goliath Grouper from a pier, and then walked the large fish all the way down to the beach where they finally landed it among many beach onlookers.

Well done gents.
