Two things are for certain when you pull up your boat to Frenchy’s Restaurant in Clearwater Beach, Florida to get one of their famous buffalo grouper sandwiches..

  1. A gal by the name of Linda will most likely be on the dock throwing lassos at dock cleats, and tying up boats faster than lightning.
  2. You do NOT want to challenge Linda to either a dock line handling contest OR an arm-wrestling contest. She is tough as nails, and one heck of a dock line handler!

Who would have thought you could tie down a nice Yellowfin so well barely bending down?

Well done Linda from Frenchy’s!

Enjoy.

It’s Tarpon Time!

Wait until you see how many tarpon are in this amazing tarpon video out of Boca Grande, FL video!

And sorry to bust your bubble, but I think it is close to impossible to count all of them (we tried). However, we will gladly give a Salt Strong hat to anyone that takes the time to count every single tarpon in this video.

Also, if a couple of the guys or clips look familiar, it’s because this video is from the same guys that brought us “The Best Tarpon Video To Ever Come Out Of Boca Grande” that went incredibly VIRAL on Salt Strong (if you never saw that video, then make sure to watch it here next).

This video was edited and filmed by the amazing Thomas Scoggins, and we hope enjoy seeing a crazy amount of tarpon from above (using the drone), and on the surface.

Great job guys!

Enjoy.

Have you ever been to Red Lobster before?

I remember going to Red Lobster as a kid and being so amazed that the adults could point to their favorite lobster in the big lobster tank up front, and then have it on their plate steaming hot in butter just 30 minutes later…

Well, this video below is kind of like Red Lobster with Goliath Grouper… except of course they aren’t keeping (or eating) the Goliath Grouper.

But they do dive down to this amazing shipwreck, check out the Goliaths and get some awesome underwater footage of them, pick out a couple of the big boys that they want to catch, and then proceed to hook up with two nice Goliath Grouper on handlines.

Great job Show Me The Snapper! (The same guy that recently made our home page with “Ever Wonder What A Shark Sees Right Before It Attacks A Hooked Grouper? – you can watch it here)

Talk about the perfect underwater camera placement!

My brother Luke and I tried this one time in about 40 feet of water, and we never could get a perfect shot.

But our friend “Show Me The Snapper” managed to get some really amazing footage of not only a grouper eating his live bait on the hook, but then a shark coming after the hooked grouper!

You couldn’t ask for better underwater footage when you leave your GoPro down on the bottom of the ocean floor while fishing!

According to Show Me The Snapper, this was filmed in 60ft of water on the west coast of Florida in an area that he had lost many nice fish to sharks.

Enjoy and please share after you watch it.

Our friend Capt. Andrew and Mallory Herzog from Big Bully Outdoors first made an appearance on our site way back in February with their amazing video titled, “13’7 Hammerhead Shark Caught From The Beach!” (you can watch it here).

And now they are back as the Salt Strong daily featured video once again!

This time with a wild Goliath Grouper video from Boca Grande, Florida.

I won’t ruin the reason that Alan from the FWC (Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission) acted fast by putting his arm down this big Goliath Grouper’s mouth…

Let’s just say that everything about his brave move was “PURE STEEL“…

Great job Big Bully Outdoors, great job Tom on the nice Goliath, and amazing save by Alan.

Many fishermen call the sharks that swipe in and steal your fish after you put in all of the work to wear the fish out as “The Tax Man”.

And what’s worse that a “Tax Man”?

Two Tax Men!

In this wild video, an angler is bringing up a nice tarpon to the boat (I believe this is Boca Grande, Florida) when all of a sudden two bull sharks come up and tag team the tarpon right in front of the boat.

The entire ambush was caught on film by the guide in the tower, and this is certainly a day of tarpon fishing that these men will never forget.

Wowzers!

When I think of Tampa Bay Fishing, the last thing that comes to mind is Hillsborough Avenue…

But this past week we have had hurricane-like rain here in Tampa, so much so that the streets were flooded, people were using their jet skis and kayaks in the road, many cars were flooded, and there was even a little street fishing…

Check out what the news caught on tape below while they were reporting the Tampa floods.

This guy clearly was not supposed to be part of the news, but kind of hard not to feature this as it is certainly cooler than anything a meteorologist could do.

And did anyone notice the huge inner tube party behind him? WTH?

The best question was that of the news anchor: “I wonder if he needs a fishing license for that?”

Who the heck knows!

It’s not every day that we see professional quality videos (with drone footage) from the “Offshore Grouper” guys…

And nothing against offshore bottom fishing for fish like Grouper and Snapper by any sense of the imagination.

Heck, I think we would all agree that Grouper and Snapper are some of the best fish to target (fun fight and incredibly good eating).

But the reason we rarely see professional videos on these offshore anglers is that the drone footage and professional videography if usually reserved for the high-flying fish like Marlin (offshore) and Tarpon (inshore)…

However, Capt. Mike from Findictive Charters (in conjunction with Bryan Flores and his team at Naples Drone Photography) proved us all wrong with this epic offshore video filmed near Naples, FL. And I hope it only means we get to see more videos like this one…

I don’t know about you, but it had me dying to go out offshore for Grouper!

Amazing job guys.

This entire video is magnificently CRaZy!

To begin, there is an angler on a docked boat fighting a juvenile tarpon all within a very small gap in between two boats that are moored very closely together (not even the Tarpon anglers in Boca Grande Pass want to be this close when fighting a Tarpon…)

Then you have a lady yelling about a Crocodile (this is an Alligator)…

Then you have the most obvious out of place element, the Alligator in the marina basin!

According to the YouTube video description: The angler (Linskey) was fishing with Double R’s Fishing & Tour Company, in Naples, Florida.

I won’t ruin the ending for you… check it out for yourself.

Let us know your thoughts on this video. Seems like they could have easily pulled the tarpon out of the water, and the lady laughing at the end doesn’t exactly scream “Respect the fish…”

And a big thanks to our friend Ben Romas over at Field & Stream for shooting this video out.
