“Holy Crabapples!”

“Holy Cows!”

These were some of the classic lines that Viva Frei used in the video below after he landed his largest bass ever… all while trolling with a drone.

Wait until you see the topwater strike that happened within seconds of him trolling in Lake Chaplain.

It’s a pretty decent bass, and certainly one that Viva won’t forget.

Love seeing someone get this excited about catching a fish.

Enjoy.

I spend some time every week looking for cool new products on Kickstarter, and this week I came across the “AguaDrone.”

Sound familiar?

It sure did to me.

I did a quick search for “Aguadrone” on Salt Strong, and low behold, this blog post popped up from a year ago.

Turns out that the father-son team that created AguaDrone did their first Kickstarter crowd-funding attempt a year ago and they weren’t able to raise enough money (which happens a lot. It’s also how decent products get great).

So Daniel Marion and his dad went back to the drawing board to not only improve the first generation of the AguaDrone, but to make it amazing.

And from what I can tell, they did a pretty stand-up job (although I have not actually used the product yet).

Not only is the AguaDrone waterproof, but it can take off and land in both freshwater and saltwater!

Here are a few things this latest generation AguaDrone can do:

  • Waterproof – can take off and land in both freshwater and saltwater
  • Has the ability to send sonar images to your phone just like a fish finder
  • It can take up to 2 pounds of bait out and drop it off in your honey hole
  • Films in HD (underwater and above water)

What do you think?

Is this the ultimate fishing drone?

Let us know in the comments and head over to the AguaDrone Kickstarter campaign to see how they are doing.

One of the coolest parts about having a drone on the boat is being able to see what’s going on in the water from a bird’s perspective.

Check out this sweet drone footage from Rowdy Trouty that he captured recently in Tampa Bay.

Those mullet didn’t stand a chance!

Crazy how fast these dolphin can turn on a dime.

No wonder the inshore bite shuts down when these guys enter the scene.

Enjoy.

Have you heard of redfish following around stingrays to eat up the shrimp, crabs, and bait fish that the ray stirs up?

Well, now you can see what it looks like from up above.

Our friend Sam Root captured this cool drone footage the other day while doing some filming in Florida.

It is pretty clear that there are two redfish in hunt mode, but what is that third fish in the top of the screen?

Pompano? Jack?

Let us know what fish you think it is in the comments.

Enjoy.

I guess sometimes even tarpon get fed up with the bully of the sea…

In what could be the first ever footage of tarpon clearly chasing away a shark, this is pretty awesome to see.

Watch as these tarpon work together like a pack of wolves or dogs to scare off an intruder.

And keep your eye on the last tarpon that even goes right down to shark by himself for one last prod.

Wild stuff!

Lesson learned: Don’t mess with tarpon when they are daisy chaining…

Great job by our friend Sam Root of filming this footage with his drone.

What an ending!

I kept watching this brand new mullet run footage by our friend Captain Stephen Ferrell, wondering if he was going to get a cool shot of something crazy.

And he didn’t let me down.

Towards the end, he takes the drone down about as low as possible (without having it get sucked down by a wave or a jumping tarpon), and captures a tarpon coming out of the water trying to crush a mullet.

What a shot!

Enjoy.

Well, if there was any doubting that the 2016 Mullet Run was in full effect, this brand new video will lay that to rest.

Check out the amazing drone footage that our friend Josh Jorgensen (aka BlacktipH) captured showing the Florida Mullet Run in action over the past week.

This is certainly some of the best mullet run footage I’ve ever seen.

Check out a tarpon cutting through a monster school of mullet from the video

The tarpon and sharks coming in and attacking is epic!

And I loved the view of the three people in the water having no idea what is going on around them.

Check it out!

Looking forward to seeing more mullet run footage from you this fall Josh!

If you are an inshore fisherman, there is nothing like seeing tailing redfish.

Your heart beats faster, you realize you have to make a perfect cast to get your bait or lure right in front of the redfish’s face, and you know that you have to do it quickly (before the redfish changes course or gets spooked).

Well, Capt. Lawson Builder and his buddy Paul Puckett decided to go out and find some tailing redfish using their drone.

They got some amazing footage, but I still have one question…

Why didn’t anyone try to catch these tailing reds? I know Capt. Lawson is a pro at catching redfish.

Either way, at least now they know how to find them quickly in the future using a drone. Pretty cool.

Enjoy.

A while back I posted a redfish video that went a bit Viral, while at the same time causing some controversy.

Why?

Because the title was, “Biggest School of Redfish Ever Captured on Film? (you can watch it here).

And in that amazing redfish video, I asked viewers to show me a larger school of redfish that was captured on video.

Of course, I heard from countless anglers saying they had seen larger schools of redfish, but no one had any spectacular footage, and in the vast majority of cases, no footage at all.

Except for two people…

We already posted one of the videos last week that was submitted by a Salt Strong viewer called, “Wait til you see why this guy is screaming HOLY REDFISH!” (you can watch it here).

Below is the second submission that was pretty freaking amazing. It was all filmed off of Jacksonville, Florida.

And what I really love about this one is they took the drone up to get some aerial footage of the redfish.

Some absolute monster redfish in that school!

Amazing job Mike Pedigo and friends!

Enjoy.
