So you thought everyone in San Diego is always friendly because of the near-perfect weather?

Well think again!

Apparently nothing ticks off a serious angler (especially a pier angler) more than a noisy drone flying over them and disturbing their peaceful time fishing…

Regarding the subject of drones flying near anglers, let us know your thoughts in the comment section.

Because on one hand, a drone can capture some of the most amazing aerial fishing footage like it did the in the fishing music video, “Fishing In Our Soul” (watch that here). And 15 years ago, the only way to get the unbelievable aerial footage for a music video like that was to hire a helicopter for the day. So on a personal level, we greatly appreciate drone footage here at Salt Strong.

On the other hand, I can see where some anglers don’t like drones around when they are fishing. Drones can be very noisy and distracting when they come in at close range, and when out of range, most people don’t like to feel like they are being spied on from up above.

But regardless of who is right and who is wrong in this video, one thing is for certain…

This angler has AMAZING AIM!

It’s not every day that we see professional quality videos (with drone footage) from the “Offshore Grouper” guys…

And nothing against offshore bottom fishing for fish like Grouper and Snapper by any sense of the imagination.

Heck, I think we would all agree that Grouper and Snapper are some of the best fish to target (fun fight and incredibly good eating).

But the reason we rarely see professional videos on these offshore anglers is that the drone footage and professional videography if usually reserved for the high-flying fish like Marlin (offshore) and Tarpon (inshore)…

However, Capt. Mike from Findictive Charters (in conjunction with Bryan Flores and his team at Naples Drone Photography) proved us all wrong with this epic offshore video filmed near Naples, FL. And I hope it only means we get to see more videos like this one…

I don’t know about you, but it had me dying to go out offshore for Grouper!

Amazing job guys.

I never thought I would see what you are about to witness below… Motorbike Surfing.

And not just any motorbike surfing.

Just wait until you see what FMX legend Robbie “Maddo” Maddison does in this BRAND NEW video he did in conjunction with DC shoes.

And wait until you see the drone footage of Robbie Maddison cruising over a small island at the 1:35 mark!

Here is the info from the DC YouTube channel on this breaking video:

DC presents Robbie “Maddo” Maddison’s “Pipe Dream,” giving the world a chance to witness history being made as Maddo rides his dirt bike on the powerful and iconic waves of Tahiti. From his helmet to motocross boots, Maddo was dressed for FMX when he took his dirt bike into the unchartered saltwater terrain of the Pacific Ocean in French Polynesia.

For nearly two years Robbie has been focused on making surfing on his motorbike a reality. His efforts paid off in Tahiti, where he rode the world famous waves at Teahupoo and Papara.

Make sure to watch until the very end. The last scene will give you goosebumps!

It probably goes without saying, Robbie Maddison = Salt Strong

Patrick Rhea of LivitFilms and his drone flying stud partner Nick Shirghio have done it again!

They have somehow produced back to back saltwater inshore fishing video masterpieces that certainly land each of the videos up in the rankings of top inshore fishing videos of all time.

After coming off a Grand Slam hit video called, “Fishing in our Soul” with Jill’s Cashbox featuring Salt Strong (in our humble opinion the best saltwater inshore video of all time), Patrick and Nick Shirghio hit another home run with Eleven Angling: Bluemoon Expeditions out of Islamorada, Florida with their fly fishing video at the bottom of this page.

Just wait until you see the tarpon footage! Amazing.

Next, make sure to check out Patrick and Nick’s other over the top video in the last 30 days below.

If you have even been fishing while cameras are rolling, you know that it rarely turns out like this with Tarpon hitting your fly just feet away from the camera and boat. Amazing job!

Enjoy!

Did I shock you by switching out my standard “Pa-POW” with a “BOOM”?

Hope so, because this amazing redfish video deserves a big ol’ bang.

I can’t wait for you to see the drone footage and the underwater footage where you get to see the grass flats from the redfish’s perspective.

Pretty sick!

This AFTCO redfish video was done in part with Yeti Coolers and Shimano Fishing, and this is just one of their 4-part short video series filmed by Jason Arnold and edited by Bradford Graham.

The Florida captain in the video is AFTCO Pro Capt. Alonzo Sotillo.

Amazing job AFTCO and team!

This will make anyone want to go out and catch some redfish this week.

Enjoy.

Back in March we posted a video of a guy in a boat chasing down a drone that had lost connection with the owner’s remote control. It was the by far the best drone save video we had ever seen… (you can watch that video here)

That is until today.

The guy in the video is Ryan Chatfield, an amazing photographer and videographer. He also happens to be fast as lighting, as you will see in this video.

The HD footage on this is unreal, and I felt like I was running with him rooting him on the entire time.

Find out what happens in “The Ultimate Drone Save” video below.

P.S. – If you think your friends would find this video amazing like I did, please share it with them – I’d really appreciate it

We recently purchased a DJI Phantom Drone here at Salt Strong (and named him “Doug the Drone“).

And before we started flying “Doug the Drone“, we started watching YouTube videos to learn what (and what not) to do.

If you aren’t familiar with how these drones work, they have a built in GPS that will automatically take the drone back to land where it took off from when it gets lost or has any issues with navigation.

“Usually” this is a great feature…

However, when you take the drone off from the middle of the ocean on a boat, having it go back to its take-off spot could spell disaster.

And trust me, if your drone hits the salt water (even for a second), it is toast!

But when you have quick-thinking guys like Manuel around, all ends well for the drone…

What an incredible drone save!
