Check out this sick drone footage that “Birds-i-View” captured while hovering over the sandbar outside of Destin’s east pass.

If you live anywhere near the Florida panhandle and want to catch sharks, now you know where to go…

Around the :53 mark you can see exactly where this is in Destin.

Finally, if you know what kinds of sharks these are, leave a comment.

Enjoy!

It’s Tarpon Time!

Wait until you see how many tarpon are in this amazing tarpon video out of Boca Grande, FL video!

And sorry to bust your bubble, but I think it is close to impossible to count all of them (we tried). However, we will gladly give a Salt Strong hat to anyone that takes the time to count every single tarpon in this video.

Also, if a couple of the guys or clips look familiar, it’s because this video is from the same guys that brought us “The Best Tarpon Video To Ever Come Out Of Boca Grande” that went incredibly VIRAL on Salt Strong (if you never saw that video, then make sure to watch it here next).

This video was edited and filmed by the amazing Thomas Scoggins, and we hope enjoy seeing a crazy amount of tarpon from above (using the drone), and on the surface.

Great job guys!

Enjoy.

Have you heard of the show “Silver Kings” yet?

If not, you’re about to!

Last month I posted a Tarpon trailer that went somewhat viral on our site called, “The South Florida Tarpon Trailer That Will Leave You With Goosebumps” (you can watch it here).

It was the Season 2 Trailer for the show…

And while I was doing some searching for tarpon videos yesterday, I came across the “Silver Kings” trailer for Season 1.

Curiosity got the best of me, and there I was last night… in front of my computer watching another tarpon video that gave me goosebumps and a burning desire to head back down to Islamorada…

Check out this amazing tarpon trailer, and don’t forget to check out the full-length “Silver Kings” TV shows that start up again in January 2016.

For more information about the show, the two featured tarpon guides (Capt. Bou Bosso and Capt. Rob Fordyce), and more, check our the main Silver Kings website here.

If you are a saltwater angler, then you know that there’s just something exciting and heart-pounding about seeing a huge bait pod.

Usually it’s the birds in the air that we see first, and then it’s the flashing of bait and explosions of big fish underneath the bait ball coming up for a snack.

For some of us a bait pod means more live bait than our lives wells can handle, and for others a bait pod is where you catch your big fish.

Either way, a big bait pod is enough to give most saltwater anglers like you and me goosebumps.

Check out what saltwater angler Patrick Hay captured from his drone off the coast of Rhode Island! It looks like “Fireworks” going off in the pod with all of the explosive bites from big fish below.

He even took his GoPro and dipped it in the bait pod to get some underwater footage of it towards the end.

Sick!

This is a BEAST of a shark.

While Mike Korostelev and his friends were shark diving (in cages), Mike decided to pull out the drone to get a bird’s eye view from above the cage.

Here is what he captured below.

Pretty cool stuff. That shark is MASSIVE!

Note: I thought for sure we were going to see a shark attack when he found the seal nearby!

Enjoy!

This amazing dolphin video was recently shot in Broken Head, New South Wales, Australia, by Benjamin Macht…

And the crazy part about it is that he came across this by somewhat by accident.

Benjamin (aka Benny) is a German photography and video enthusiast currently working in Australia, and he visited the Broken Head beach that day to capture migrating humpback whales.

But when he saw all of the birds diving for the hundreds of thousands of bait fish in the massive bait ball, he cranked up his drone and captured the footage of the dolphins hunting that you see below.

What this mother dolphin is doing is teaching her young to run into the bait pod, slap their tale as hard as they can to stun the bait fish, and then suck up as many as they can for lunch.

Pretty awesome!

Here is a note from Benny (from Express UK)

“When I got there I noticed seabirds in large numbers feeding on fish close to shore.

“A short time later I noticed that there was a pod of dolphins too so I launched my drone from the headland and started recording this feeding frenzy.

“I was there for over three hours and the dolphins repeated this scenario numerous times in that time.

“It was truly spectacular to see how these smart animals hunt their food. I’ve never witnessed this before and to me it was quite special.

“As I’m interested in wildlife photography this was a morning I’ll never forget. Nature is simply amazing.”

Now it should come as no surprise that if you go out in the ocean, you might see a shark.

In fact, you might be just a few meters away from a shark like the surfer in this video below and have no idea…

As the funny Will Ferrell “Anchorman” meme that was getting spread around earlier this year said, “This Just In, There Are Sharks In The Ocean…”
sharks caught on drone

Either way, no matter how many times you tell yourself the sharks are more scared of you that we are of them, it is easy to forget that when you see a monster shark next to you in the water.

And I don’t think many of us realize just  how close we come to big sharks while out in the saltwater…

But the one thing we all have to keep in mind is that 99% of sharks out there are just curious. We are intruding on their turf, not the other way around.

And if you are surfing or snorkeling in shark infested areas, just make sure there is always some slower than you around…

Enjoy the drone footage from Pismo Beach, California.

Have you ever seen the fishing show called “Silver Kings”?

Personally, I have never watched any of their episodes from Season 1, but after seeing this trailer for the next season’s shows, I think I might be tuning in.

This video trailer for the upcoming season of “Silver Kings” might start off a bit slow, but just wait until you see all of the action in this thing.

At one point, one of the anglers has to jump in the water to chase down his buddy’s fly rod that is being pulled by a tarpon underwater!

Of course, there are plenty of epic tarpon jumps…

You even learn a little bit about why God loves Tarpon! Did you know that there is a Tarpon on the ceiling of Michelangelo’s famous Sistine Chapel? You can read the full article here.

And even one of the guides goes falling off the poling platform towards the end.

Great job guys, and can’t wait to see the new fishing shows.

Let’s face it, all fishing can be pretty addictive…

There is always that “next fish”… there is always the “new record”… there is always “the one that got away”… and there is always the pursuit of feeling (and hearing) the line rip out of your reel…

For some of us, we love conventional saltwater fishing using spinning reels and bait casters.

While others, prefer nothing but a fly rod in their hand.

So why is that some anglers are so obsessed with fly fishing?

Well, our friends Patrick Rhea and Nick Shirghio of LivitFilms just released this latest fly fishing masterpiece called, “Connection” that pretty much sums up the “connection” fly anglers have with their beloved sport.

Check out this awesome video below!
