Our friend Terry Smith from Redfish Kings is one lucky dude.

While out fishing for redfish in Louisiana this week, he somehow managed to land two redfish with only one hook!

Many times redfish will stick together, even when one of the fish is clearly hooked…

In this case, Terry was ready with the net and magically pulled up two fish while only having to hook and fight one of them!

Well done!

Enjoy this amazing redfish video!

I kept resisting the urge to post this “Pink Dolphin Video” on our site (because a pink dolphin is not what comes to mind when I think Salt Strong), but we are also here to report the latest and most sharable news in and around saltwater…

So after this incredibly rare pink dolphin encounter kept hitting my inbox and alerts, I figured it was our duty to share this rare dolphin named “Pinky” with you.

In what could be the most exciting thing to call Lousiana home since Britney Spears and Lil’ Wayne, Pinky the pink dolphin has made another rare appearance near the LA shores.

Captain Erik Rue of Calcasieu Charter Service captured this wild footage of a rare pink (not albino) dolphin right off the coast of Louisiana where he usually fishes.

And he says this is not the first time he has seen Pinky.

But even more shocking is the fact that Capt. Erik says he believes Pinky is mating!

I wonder what the babies will look like? Only time will tell.

Enjoy!

Probably the best Bull Redfish on topwater footage we have ever seen here at Salt Strong so far (and we have seen a ton of redfish footage).

And just a warning, you might find yourself moving your head up and down dancing to this song and video from the get go…

In this amazing redfish footage, these big reds are exploding on topwater flies in shallow water. The up close and personal footage of these fish is truly art, so big props to both the anglers and the videographers.

The majority of the video is just the strike, and then they show all the fish caught at the end so stay tuned for the full video.

This video describes with no words why so many love to sight fish… these guys are my new heroes.

I was born and raised in Florida, so of course I am a bit partial to believing that our amazing Sunshine State has the best overall fishing in terms of:

  • Choice: Because Florida has so much waterfront land, the choices on places to fish (saltwater and freshwater) certainly can’t be matched by any other state
  • Species: There are more species of fish to catch in and around the shores of Florida than any other state (in my humble opinion). That goes for saltwater and freshwater fishing.
  • Opportunities: You can usually fish pretty much year round (without having to drill holes in ice…)

But I read an article in the recent Florida Sportsman Magazine called “Road Trip To Venice”. The article described one of the best places to fish in the Gulf of Mexico… Venice, Louisiana. It even went on to mention that some of their most common visitors are Florida anglers!

Louisiana Fishing vs Florida Fishing

So that got me thinking… perhaps Louisiana is a pretty darn solid place to fish, and not just a place I went for bachelor parties and Mardi Gras while I was in college…

But I still wasn’t completely convinced…

Then over this past weekend, one of our Salt Strong Members (thanks Josh Veeck) sent us this Louisiana inshore video that was too amazing to ignore.

And I have to admit, I was pretty darn impressed with Louisiana fishing. I have caught a ton of redfish in my life, but I have yet to fish in a school of reds as thick and as abundant as that.

My Personal Vote & Conclusion

Although this video below should give any inshore angler goosebumps, I still think Florida has a fishing edge over any state in terms of overall fishing… including Louisiana.

But at the end of the day I am just one vote.

What do you think?

Please let us know what state you believe has the best fishing in the comment section after you finish the video:

Louisiana or Florida?
