This is painful to watch for any boat owner…

The nice sportfishing boat that is rapidly sinking is the “Waste Knot” that had a tough day in the Oregon Inlet (North Carolina).

The rumor is that the boat hit a shipping container that was barely below the surface, and it is confirmed that the entire crew was able to safely get out of the boat and was picked up by the Coast Guard.

You can see that the guy filming did his best to try to assist, but the pressure of the large boat sinking was enough to rip the cleat out!

According to people familiar with the incident, the boat did sink and washed up near shore a few days later.

Great job by the Coast Guard and all that helped with the wreck.

It’s Saturday…

The day that more boating accidents and boating fails happen than any other day of the week.

Of course, many of the boat fails, accidents, and bloopers happen right at the public boat ramps.

This boat launch fail is unique in that it has a six-figure boat launching itself right back on the paved ramp (this occurred at the notorious Lake Havasu).

And the odd thing is, that no one seems to know exactly what happened after reading through all of the comments.

Some believe that the throttle was jammed, while others claim the boat was still hitched to the trailer.

What do you think happened?

Let us know in the comments.

Enjoy and stay SAFE out there folks!

I hope I didn’t offend the owner of this magnificent yacht by using the word “Boat” instead of “Yacht” in my blog title…

But let’s face it, Billionaire Boater just rolls off the tongue better than Billionaire Yachter.

And for all I know, the owner of the boat might not be a billionaire just yet, but with a yacht like this he certainly has to be close to the billionaire club.

At any rate, I stumbled across this video recently and it reminded me of getting a glimpse into the lives of the rich and famous.

In fact, I am pretty sure I could see the guy saying the following thing during one of his backswings, “I wonder what the poor people are doing today…”

I don’t know about you, but if I had the money to buy a boat like that, I would be doing a whole lot more fishing and much less golfing with champagne…

But then again I don’t know what it’s like to be able to afford a boat (aka yacht) like that.

Either way, this is certainly one of the most expensive chipping greens in the world…

Enjoy.

It’s a fact, the Seaspan “Survivor” Phoenix logging ship is built Salt Strong…

As you can imagine, the thumbnail picture of this logging ship loaded down with logs (looking like it was about to sink) caught my eye…

And then when I saw the full video (below) on what this massive ship is capable of doing, it blew my mind.

Talk about engineering awesomeness!

Here is what this ship (the Seaspan Survivor Phoenix) does for the logging industry up in British Columbia.

Here is a pic of the ship loaded to the max and cruising pretty fast down the coast of Canada

As you probably know, Canada is loaded with an abundance of natural resources including tons of forest land.

But because of the rugged terrain of the area, it can be almost impossible to get trucks in and out to transport the logs after they are cut.

This is where the Seaspan logging ship comes in.

In the past, it was common to see large groups of logs towed in the water, but that posed several limiting factors such as making it really tough (and dangerous) in rough weather, and it was impossible to tow as many logs as one of these large logging ships could hold.

Overall, some of these logging ships can transport upwards of 15,000 tons of logs.

That is equivalent to 700 logging trucks!!!

Wow.

Check out this bad boy logging ship in action below.

Enjoy.

Did I mention that this innovative boat anchor also comes in 900HP and 1200HP?

Yep.

Of course, that is only if you can afford it…

Regardless of the cost, Mercury’s latest engine technology is pretty darn slick.

In fact, if 20 years ago you had told an avid boater that there would be boat motors that could hold you in place via GPS signals like an anchor (without any anchor, anchor line, setting an anchor, etc), they would have thought you were crazy.

And they probably would have slapped you in disbelief if you told them that center console boats would have outboards pushing well over 1200 horsepower from the back… but that’s a whole different story…

Well, this technology not only exists (thanks to Mercury Marine), it can be seen out there in many of today’s new center console fishing boats.

It’s called the Mercury Skyhook, it works off of a GPS, and it is all controlled from a joystick (just like playing a video game except you are controlling a multi-six-figure boat).

And it can keep you in perfect place:

  • While you wait for a slip at the marina to gas up
  • Over a wreck where you don’t want to risk dropping an anchor
  • Over your favorite honey hole that has too much current for a trolling motor

Check it out below and let us know what you think in the comments.

Enjoy.
