Meet one of the fastest and most unique kayaks ever made…

The Stik Boat.

According to the Stik Boat Facebook page, the Stik boat is:

Part kayak
Part personal watercraft
Part skiff
and part bass boat all rolled up into one

If it looks somewhat familiar, a few months back we published a blog about a jet-propelled kayak that went 32 MPH (you can see it here).

However, that was a different brand, different manufacturer, and according to multiple sources, it had trouble going 32 MPH and needed a few other tweaks that needed addressing.

So the guys over at Stik Boats decided to fix all of the issues and created what they believe is the ideal jet-driven kayak.

Here are a few features of this amazing Stik Boat:

17.5 hp four-stroke engine
Electric start engine with 3.7-gallon fuel capacity, 35-40 mile range, and a full two hours of full-throttle operation
Jet-driven pump designed exclusively for this boat with a special coolant system to eliminate problems with running saltwater or dirty water through the system
Weight of Stik Boat: 250 lbs

Propane boat motors…

Will these eco-friendly boat engines be the future of boating or just something for small outboards like jon boats and dinghies?

Either way, it’s exciting to think about.

After years of spending time on the water, Capt. Bernardo Herzer started envisioning how more boats could eventually run on propane.

Today, his company Lehr makes everything from propane lawn mowers to propane boat engines.

“Propane is just safer, more efficient, and more reliable,” says Capt. Bernardo Herzer

When these guys went shark fishing out of the Long Island area, the last thing they thought they would catch that day is a buck!

But as they were heading out to their fishing hole in hopes of some shark bites, they saw something floating in the distance.

As they approached it, they realized that the deer was scared and completely lost.

They gently wrapped a rope around the deer’s antlers and were able to tow it safely back to land and keep it warm until it was able to get up and walk on its own.

That deer was lucky he didn’t end up as a shark meal! But then again, I bet a few sharks probably saw him from up above and kept on swimming because they had never seen anything like that before.

If you have spent enough time offshore fishing, then you know that some days are better than others in terms of the seas.

I can still recall the time we crossed over to the Bahamas from Ft. Lauderdale in my dad’s 24ft Wellcraft boat and the seas decided to double in size about a quarter of the way through our trip. Turned a 4-hour ride into an 8-hour ride after it was all said and done.

But nothing can compare to what some of these Navy ships have to go through!

Check out what the RNZN (Royal New Zealand Navy) has to go through in this amazing footage! According to the video notes,

The RNZN vessel HMNZS Otago sailing through a storm in the Southern Ocean. 20m swells with 80KMph winds.

The crazy part is these brave sailors have seen much worse!

Wowzers.

One thing is for sure, this boat is certified Salt Strong!

He’s Back!!!

The original “Docking like a Boss” video was created in order to raise awareness of all of the deaths that were happening to boaters on the water due to alcohol consumption while boating.

In fact, one out of four deaths in Norway (where this was filmed) was due to alcohol.

The original film has reached over 32 million viewings (that they know of), and was shared 384 000 times on Facebook.

In this brand new “Launching like a Boss” video, the actor, Jo Gill Næss (an engineer in the oil business) shows the world how to launch a boat from the ramp like a BOSS!

Well done!

Remember, boating is an artform… best practiced sober. Be smart out there folks.

Holy Anchor Fail!

I remember how upset my dad was the first time he lost an anchor to the sea, but nothing compares to how painful (and expensive) this anchor and chain were to lose.

And my dad’s anchor line certainly didn’t cause a fire with the friction from the rope… wowzers! That anchor line was spitting out of there at an unreal speed!

Can you imagine all of the weight and pressure that was pulling it down!

But all in all, this ship should consider itself lucky that no serious damage was done by this incredibly heavy and fast moving chain.

It could have done some serious damage to the deck, the hull, or even killed a crew member.

Scary stuff!

The other piece of good news is that this will certainly make a nice reef for some fish down at the bottom of the ocean.

Thank goodness the creators of “The WaterCar Panther” were smart enough to show the world that their “Water Car” can also take you fishing…

Otherwise, I probably would not have been able to showcase it on our fishing site.

I kept watching the video wondering why they hadn’t thought to put some rod holders on the car, and then the clip finally came where they had a few rods.

Looks like they thought of everything!

I do wish they would have shown someone actually catching a fish from the car. That would have been awesome!

There’s not much to say about the WaterCar Panther that can’t be said in the video.

The WaterCar Panther does all of the following:

It drives like a normal car
It can instantly be turned into a boat
You can water ski behind it
You can fish from it
You can pick up chicks with it
And you can let the world know you are awesome

So how much does the WaterCar cost?

Well, we checked out their site, the cars are real, the company is more than legit, and people are paying between $126,000 and $155,000 for a WaterCar.

How much would you pay for something like this?

Personally, if I had $150,000 to spend, it would be going towards a bad to the bone boat and not a car…

There is loading your boat on a trailer nice and slow, and then there is loading your boat like a BOSS!

Wait til’ you see how fast the captain has this boat moving right up until he hits the trailer!

If you are wondering why he is coming in so fast, apparently this area of Alaska (Ninilchik) is too shallow for a boat this size to idle in so it must stay on a plane all the way until it hits the trailer.

The big question I have is how much do the two trailer guys get paid?

It certainly can’t be enough.

I bet the first time standing on the trailer watching a boat coming at you at a high speed has to be pretty darn intimidating.
