Now it should come as no surprise that if you go out in the ocean, you might see a shark.

In fact, you might be just a few meters away from a shark like the surfer in this video below and have no idea…

As the funny Will Ferrell “Anchorman” meme that was getting spread around earlier this year said, “This Just In, There Are Sharks In The Ocean…”
sharks caught on drone

Either way, no matter how many times you tell yourself the sharks are more scared of you that we are of them, it is easy to forget that when you see a monster shark next to you in the water.

And I don’t think many of us realize just  how close we come to big sharks while out in the saltwater…

But the one thing we all have to keep in mind is that 99% of sharks out there are just curious. We are intruding on their turf, not the other way around.

And if you are surfing or snorkeling in shark infested areas, just make sure there is always some slower than you around…

Enjoy the drone footage from Pismo Beach, California.

The Morningtide Fishing Team is back…

If you haven’t seen the wild and crazy fishing blokes from Morningtide, here are a few of our all-time favorite fishing videos from them:

  • “The Most Extreme Cobia And Mackerel Fishing Ever” (watch it here)
  • “Think The Wicked Tuna Guys Are Crazy? Then Watch This Video!” (watch it here)

One of our personal favorite “Boating Strong” videos was “How To Dock A Boat Like A BOSS” (must watch here if you haven’t seen it).

And ever since then, we have been looking for a boating video (and a captain) that could match it…

Well, I think we found him.

This guy somehow managed to find himself in some nasty surf near San Francisco.

Here are the details:

This video was shot by Pete Koff in San Francisco Jan 19th 2013
The boat was a 35ft Donzi boat, the hull did get damaged and there were some pretty serious injuries on board. The owner just put $500 of work into the boat.
The wave is approx 15ft, so you could imagine how hard it came down the back of the wave. The boat stalled out for about 2 min after the jump, then jammed back into SF Bay like a champ.

Unless you have been sleeping under a rock (or coral reef), you have probably heard about the wild amount of shark attacks on the beaches of North Carolina (read about it on CNN here).

Well this couple in the video below didn’t want any part of a shark bite…

And apparently this couple is either starting a new company called “North Carolina Shark Cages” or they are just trying to make a statement… but either way, their homemade shark cage made the news.

Watch what happens when this couple starts to wade out with their shark cages in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Classic tourist move!

Big thanks to Nic Turner of Hawaii for sending this video in.

When I first saw the thumbnail to this video, I really did think it was an oil spill. I had just never seen anything like this on a beach (or anywhere for that matter).

But no, this is the largest bait pod of anchovies ever!

Here is the info from the video:

An aggregation of anchovy amassed near Scripps Pier at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego in La Jolla, Calif. on July 8, 2014. Footage from Scripps Pier by Scripps staff and underwater by Scripps graduate students Julia Fiedler, Sean Crosby and Bonnie Ludka

Pretty cool where you can actually see either a shark or a human in the middle of each circle in the huge pod.

Kind of reminds me of the Florida mullet run.

If you never saw that video, “The Craziest Mullet Run Ever Captured On Film”, you must watch that one next here.

Patrick Rhea of LivitFilms and his drone flying stud partner Nick Shirghio have done it again!

They have somehow produced back to back saltwater inshore fishing video masterpieces that certainly land each of the videos up in the rankings of top inshore fishing videos of all time.

After coming off a Grand Slam hit video called, “Fishing in our Soul” with Jill’s Cashbox featuring Salt Strong (in our humble opinion the best saltwater inshore video of all time), Patrick and Nick Shirghio hit another home run with Eleven Angling: Bluemoon Expeditions out of Islamorada, Florida with their fly fishing video at the bottom of this page.

Just wait until you see the tarpon footage! Amazing.

Next, make sure to check out Patrick and Nick’s other over the top video in the last 30 days below.

If you have even been fishing while cameras are rolling, you know that it rarely turns out like this with Tarpon hitting your fly just feet away from the camera and boat. Amazing job!

Enjoy!

P.P.S. – Let us know what you think. Are these the two best inshore saltwater fishing videos ever created? Let us know if you have other favorites as well. You won’t hurt our feelings… much.

If you have ever caught a 7ft+ shark before, you know how much of a fight it can put up… especially on the beach at night when the shark can leverage sandbars and currents to its advantage.

Well this college girl was up for the task of catching a big shark one recent evening as she, her boyfriend, and her boyfriend’s buddy went out to see if they could get this gal Brook on a big shark at night.

I won’t ruin the ending for you, but let’s just say college student Brook Crist of the Landshark Crew was probably feeling some pain in her arms the next day…

Well done Landshark Fishing Crew!

And good to hear someone giving tips on a safe release in their videos.

Our most VIRAL video of the year was called, “Dolphin Captures Big Snook On Film” (watch it here if you never saw it). I can only imagine that it was shared and liked over 18,000 times on Facebook alone because of two reasons:

  1. It showed just how smart, tricky, and overpowering a dolphin can be when it wants to eat a snook (you can even see the dolphin just teasing the snook right before it finally takes it down for the kill
  2. We all know dolphin eat snook, but no one had ever captured it on video quite like this video did on the beach

Once again, watch it here after you view the video below if you never saw it. It was pretty wild.

So when we came across this amazing video of dolphins hydroplaning up on beaches to capture fish, we just had to share it.

It is really unbelievable how smart these creatures are. They actually have the brainpower to understand that their standard “Dolphin Tail Slap” won’t work, so they improvise and implement with almost flawless technique.

Amazing stuff!

We have seen some pretty amazing viral fishing videos this year since my brother and I started Salt Strong.

What’s funny is that it is shockingly hard to predict which fishing videos will actually go Viral.

Some of the videos that I am certain will go viral don’t take off like I thought they would, while others that I would never would have bet money on, end up taking off. However, every now and I then I predict one perfectly (but it is rare).

At the end of the day, you just never know what the majority of people are going to find so amazing they just have to share.

All we can do is keep showing off the very best viral fishing videos and letting you decide.

Finally, since we officially took our site SaltStrong.com on January 1st of this year, it made complete sense to do a Top 10 Most Viral Fishing Videos for the first 6 months of the year.

Because let’s face it, unless you have been coming to our site every day since January, you might have missed a few of these. And there are some pretty sick fishing videos in this list below.

Hope you enjoy!
