If you are an inshore angler, you are going to love this story…

It all started with a desire of one man to explore new fishing grounds and catch bigger fish.

Tony Acevedo, an Orlando area bass angler, was many miles from the nearest body of saltwater, yet he was determined to learn how to catch redfish, snook, and trout over on the east coast back in mid-2015…

So he hung up his bass fishing gear and started fishing the flats after purchasing his first kayak.

But most importantly, Tony had a burning drive to learn, and he is certainly one of the shining stars from Salt Strong’s private Insider Club (he’s even one of the teachers now)

Now Tony gets PAID TO FISH FULL-TIME!!!

How awesome is that!

And it all started with Tony studying my brother Luke’s inshore fishing system…

If you have met my brother Luke, you know that he is WAY too modest and humble to ever toot his own horn… but that doesn’t mean that I won’t…

In one sentence, Luke is one of the most consistent inshore anglers in the state of Florida.

Period.

He has gone up against pro guides and won money in tournaments, he’ll go to brand new areas and outfish most locals, and he has what many call a “Fish Whisperer” trait that has come from decades of patiently studying fish (Luke was the kid in junior high and high school that woke up 2 hours early to go fishing almost every morning at 5:30am).

He even caught a snook from a 3rd-floor balcony (you can see that video here if you missed it).

And he makes anglers like me look really good (I catch a significant amount of fish every year just by being in the same boat with him and imitating what he is doing).

So back to the story at hand…

This inshore angler that we have featured below is Tony Acevedo, and he had never been inshore fishing as of March of 2015.

And then he applied what he learned to out-fish many inshore anglers that have been doing it for over a decade…

Just check out Tony’s fishing card to see the fish he has been catching every month (hint: lots of grand slams – and this covers just a fraction of his catches over a short period of time).

Big kudos to you Tony.

Guys like you make it all worth it for Luke to spend as much time as he does teaching fishing.

Keep up the great work buddy!

You make us all very proud.

We’ve been following Capt. Mike Goodwine (aka “Blackneck Adventures”) for quite some time…

From his long-fought “Free Mike Goodwine” battle with Facebook about having Capt. in his name (which Mike eventually won), to the mogan redfish and snook he is constantly posting on Facebook and Instagram…

Heck, we even got to meet the guy and have a drink with him at a private Guy Harvey party at ICAST this past year.

And I made the prediction that Blackneck Adventures would be one of the BIG names to watch in the upcoming years when I wrote the crazy viral post named, “The Complete List: 85 Must-Know Florida Saltwater Anglers” (see the full list here).

Last week Capt. Mike posted a beast of a redfish in the Salt Strong Fishing Tribe Facebook group that got a ton of comments and likes.

Of course, I couldn’t help notice that he had his 14-inch Salt Strong decal placed strategically in the front of his boat for pics (see below)

blackneck adventures

So I started wondering if Capt. Mike had any good videos of these monster redfish he keeps catching.

Well, it didn’t take me long to find a good one on YouTube.

Check out some of the redfish footage in this compilation below!

FYI, you can hire Blackneck to take you out and catch some monster inshore fish by contacting him here: Blackneckadventures@yahoo.com

Note: I told Capt. Mike that Luke and I will be taking him out fishing with us in 2016 so stay tuned for a fun video (and some monster fish).

Enjoy!

Check out this amazing redfish kayak footage that Strong Angler Brandon Barton sent in to us over the weekend.

It made me want to head down to Boca Grande (where I keep my kayak) and hit the backcountry.

Talk about some nice redfish landed from a yak!

One of those redfish looked like he barked at the camera…

Well done Brandon! One heck of a redfish compilation.

And if you are wondering what the cameras were doing around the 45-second mark, they were filming for the Hobie Outdoors Adventure show on NBC sports (The IFA kayak tour championship in Louisiana).

Enjoy.

FACT: When you go fishing with Brittney Novalsky, you catch big fish…

FACT: When Jessica Jae and her motley female fishing crew (Jessica, Kim, and Jacki) hit the water, there is never a dull moment…

So when I saw that these ladies all joined forces for a Louisiana road trip to fish the inshore marshes, I knew it was going to be good.

Check out some of the monster redfish and black drum they caught (a few of them on kid’s rods spooled with braid)!

Some serious beasts caught on this trip!

Well done ladies.

Who else wants to head over to Louisiana this winter for some inshore marsh fishing?

Capt. Robert Rohmann at Avid Charters took it to a whole new level on this inshore fishing video.

Can you imagine how much more exciting saltwater fishing would be if every guide and charter captain made a video like this!

If you are ever over on Florida’s Space Coast and want to catch some monster inshore fish from Mosquito Lagoon, to Indian River Lagoon, down to Jupiter, check out Avid Charters.

Their video does a pretty good job of showing you what kind of fun they have out on the water.

Great job guys.

Some amazing footage.

Not only does this Redfish video have some of the most professional and epic redfish footage out there, it also has some of the best fishing lines to date…

“Those big Redfish freaking look like big orange school buses in the water”

I can’t wait for you see this Louisiana winter time redfish video below!

And make sure to stick around for the entire video. About halfway through is when they start getting into the 20lb+ redfish like this one below (including a heartbreaking trophy redfish at the very end).

Good stuff!

It will certainly want to make you head to the marshes of Louisiana this winter. I am already hitting up my brother Luke to do a trip there after watching this.

Who knew that the water was so clear there in the wintertime? Wowzers.

Great job Waterline Media!

Well, she’s done it again…

Jessica Jae (the female angler that caught the largest redfish on a barbie rod) is back with an all new video!

But this time it was our friend Jessica Jae behind the camera filming her friend Kim while she fights what has to be the largest black drum ever caught on a Barbie rod!

Here is a quick pic of Kim holding the monster black drum she caught on the Barbie rod (video is at the bottom):

jessica jae black drum
Kim and her huge black drum she caught on a barbie rod (Video Below)

This epic catch all happened on a recent girl’s trip to Louisiana, and of course, Jessica had to bring along her trusty Barbie Shakespeare pink rod.

They were fishing with well-known female angler Brittney Novalsky (Florida Sportswoman) of “Fishing Adventures with Brittney Novalsky” who put them on the amazing fish.

Check out Brittney’s adventures and awesome fishing pictures here on her blog, or here on her Facebook page.

Great job gals!

I speak for many of us anglers that would love to catch that black drum on any rod and reel combo!

Enjoy.

We recently posted a popular blog called, “13 Of The Weirdest Baits To Ever Catch A Fish”, and in that post we asked anglers to leave a comment on any weird fishing baits that we might have left off (or haven’t heard of before).

One of the unique comments that came in from the post mentioned using, “Jalapeno Peppers to catch redfish”.

Well, after a quick search on YouTube, I found the video of Capt. Todd Casey fishing for redfish using nothing but hot peppers, and of course, I had to share it with you.

Check out what happens when he tosses out a hot pepper on a hook!

Either these redfish love spicy Mexican food or they will eat just about anything…

Enjoy.

A pretty funny start to this video with a stinky blowfish, but an ever better ending after catching snook, redfish, and tarpon during a hard-hitting incoming tide.

If you recognize some of the faces (and fishing lures), it’s because this is from the same FlatsHQ guys that made, “This Has To Be One Of The Best Redfish Topwater Videos Ever Created”.

And if you recognize the video work, that’s because this video was filmed by Dan Decibel who has been on our site numerous times.

Check out their awesome day of inshore fishing after waiting out a few storms to fish the incoming tide.

Enjoy.
