For those of you that follow us frequently (we thank you big time by the way), you know that we recently posted “The Top 9 Goliath Grouper Videos on the Internet” (you can see all 9 Goliath Grouper videos here).

But what I didn’t know was that I would be handed this unbelievable video of Manny Puig going “Goliath Grouper Noodling” just a week later, as it certainly would have made that  best of the Goliath Grouper video list from last week.

In fact, this might be the one of the most exciting Goliath Grouper videos yet. I will let you be the judge of that though.

If you don’t know who Manny Puig is, he is the wild guy with the long hair that isn’t afraid of any animal, fish, shark, or mammal. He has made appearances on the show (and movie) Jackass, along with many other extreme animal videos as well.

And in this video, Manny free dives down next to a Goliath Grouper, puts his hand all the way in the monster fish’s mouth, and… well I will let you watch and see what happens.

Make sure to pay extra close attention at the end of the video to see what comes out of the Goliath Grouper’s mouth. Unless Manny is a magician and had a crab up his sleeve, that crab just made one of the coolest Goliath Grouper cameos ever.

P.S. – If you think your friends would find this Goliath Grouper as awesome as I did, please share it with them – I’d really appreciate it.

Ever since we saw the video where the two guys caught the “Tarpon Underwater” (if you never saw that video, it is a must see – watch it here next), I didn’t think we would see another “Fishing Underwater” video anytime soon.

But low and behold, another creative angler has done it again.

This time the angler is using scuba gear…

Can’t believe that fish hit his lure right in front of him!

Either way, pretty funny underwater fishing video, and very entertaining. And if you ever wanted to know if fishing underwater was possible, now you know… and knowing is half the battle.

My first memory of spearfishing was down in the Bahamas where my dad taught my brother and I (I was 14 and Luke was 12) how to spearfish with a Hawaiian Sling.

To say that we had a blast spearing our dinner would be a huge understatement. Not to mention the spearfishing stories we had to tell our friends when we got back to school were pretty unbeatable…

So when I came across this video of a some guys using the Guerrilla Sling down in the Keys (Elliot Key and North Largo, as well as Fort Lauderdale footage in here as well), it brought back some great memories.

Also, if you want to know more about these “Guerrilla Slings”, the brand that “Spear Big” is using in this video is made by HeadHunter Spearfishing. Here is quick pic of the sling.

Enjoy the video!

Step aside Alex Fogg (aka “The Ultimate Lionfish Killer” – if you never saw Alex’s Lionfish videos, click here), there is a new Lionfish Sherriff in town…

And this time it’s not a Grouper eating a Lionfish (see that video here)…

It’s not a barracuda eating a Lionfish (see that video here)…

And no, it’s not a shark eating a Lionfish (see that video here)…

This time it’s a big ol’ green Moray Eel!

And this Moray Eel doesn’t just gingerly take the Lionfish off of the spear, it practically thrashes it off before taking it back into his rock home to enjoy the lionfish delicacy…

Well our good friend Alex Fogg is at it again… this time wrestling with a Goliath Grouper instead of plucking off Lionfish.

If you aren’t familiar with Alex, he is the diver that has had more Lionfish videos go Viral than anyone else on the planet. And if you haven’t seen his incredible videos, here are some quick links for each one (but make sure to watch the epic Goliath Grouper battle below first).

So back to the video below…

Here is plot: Alex Fogg is down on an Exxon template wreck in the Gulf of Mexico doing some spearfishing. After he plucks a nice hogfish for dinner, a Goliath Grouper decides he wants it for dinner. Most divers would probably just let the Goliath Grouper have its way, and go on to find another hogfish…

But not Alex Fogg the Lionfish Killer!

He fights this Goliath Grouper through the wreck… well I won’t ruin it for you. Check it out below.

And stick around til the end, as the video doesn’t end at the Goliath Grouper scene… Alex keeps going.

P.S. – If you think your fishing friends and diving friends would like this video, please share it with them – I’d really appreciate it.

Now before anyone gets exasperated from this video showing a Lionfish being fed to a shark, it is important that you know why Lionfish need to be eliminated in our waters.

The “Cliff Notes” Story of the Lionfish Infestation

Lionfish are beautiful fish that used to only be located in the warmer waters of the Indian and western Pacific Oceans (not America or the Caribean).

And based on their beauty, they eventually became popular for personal home aquariums in and around the United States. Because of the demand, aquarium supply companies started importing these beautiful lionfish over to America to sell to saltwater aquarium owners that wanted these ornate fish in their tanks.

However, the owners of the saltwater aquariums quickly realized a HUGE problem…

That these Lionfish kill and eat EVERYTHING around them.

And I mean EVERYTHING.

So how did they arrive all over the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean, and even up as high as New York on the east coast?

Well it is believed that it was due to a combination of aquarium owners releasing their lionfish out into the water (after they realized that all of their other fish in their tanks were dead), in conjunction with the hurricanes that hit Florida and the Gulf of Mexico which shattered aquariums on waterfront properties, thus releasing many lionfish out into the water as well, were among the main causes of this lionfish infestation.

And oh, by the way, did I mention that Lionfish:

  • They have no natural predators in and around the Gulf of Mexico or the Caribbean
  • Lionfish have needle sharp and venomous spines, and they can destroy entire coral reef life and underwater ecosystems because they eat just about everything in site
  • The female lionfish releases upwards of 10,000 – 15,000 eggs into the water, so these lionfish are replicating at incredible speed

So hopefully now you can understand why we need to eliminate lionfish (and even teach predators like sharks how to eat these pesky lionfish like they do in this video below from Columbia).

And if you never saw the related video of our friend Alex Fogg, aka “The Ultimate Lionfish Killer“, then make sure to watch that video here next.

Please SHARE to help spread the word on why Lionfish are ruining our beautiful reefs.

P.S. – We have nothing against PETA. In fact, we applaud and get behind most of their work helping animals. They just go a bit too far with their fishing propaganda sometimes…

Great White Sharks seem to be making more appearances than ever before!

We aren’t sure if the steady increase in Great White sighting is because they are growing in population, that they are exploring new waters (like the upper Gulf of Mexico near the Florida panhandle in this video), or if we are just seeing more because there are GoPros capturing more underwater footage than ever before…

But at any rate, these Great Whites are getting some serious camera time.

This Great White Shark in particular, tried to make a meal out of a GoPro that was on an underwater piece of equipment.

I think he finally got the idea that it wasn’t food…

Enjoy!

P.S. – Does anyone know exactly what the device is that the Great White is biting on?

This has to be my favorite “non-fishing” video of the month!

Just wait until you see the amazing underwater footage that these gents from Australia’s “Terra Australis” capture on film.

They go from catching lobster, seeing tons of amazing fish, feeding seals, and then letting huge stingrays swim over them for a quick “stingray kiss“.

This video footage was all taken in Western Australia’s Rottnest Island.

Adding this dive spot to my bucket list…

Let us know what you think about this awesome video and don’t forget to share it with a friend that would like it as well.

You might want to turn up your volume for this one as you can literally hear this diver SCREAM!

And if you are anything like me, you are probably going to watch this one a couple of times.

Note: If you listen closely, you can hear the diver that is pointing trying to give a warning yell right before “the whale shark sneak attack”.

I was laughing so hard my entire family came over to see what I was looking at.

Well, I won’t ruin it for you… let’s just say this is a pretty amazing Whale Shark Sneak Attack on a diver, and we are so glad that it was all caught on film.

Enjoy, and don’t forget to share with your friends.
