The Costa Rica Inshore Grand Slam…

Permit.

Bonefish.

Tarpon.

All landed on a fly rod in the same trip.

Most of the locals in this part of the Costa Rican jungle say it’s never been done.

You see, these waters are known primarily for their monster tarpon, but rarely do you find permit and bonefish (unless you know where to look).

Check out the amazing trailer by Capture Adventures Media & Anglers Eye Media as they film anglers Mark Martin and Alex Beck trying to complete the very first Costa Rican Grand Slam.

I know I will be tuning into the IF4 (Fly Fish Film Festival) to see the full film.

How about you?

Enjoy.

Ever fished Cuba before?

As you probably know, not that many Americans have when you compare it to other popular fishing destinations in the Caribbean.

But even though Cuba is tough to get into for fishing, they do have some of the most amazing inshore fishing in the world, and it has become a very hot destination for avid fly anglers.

And down in Cuba, the ultimate Grand Slam of fly fishing includes catching a Permit, Tarpon, and Bonefish all in one day.

Watch as this lucky angler achieves the slam of the lifetime all in one day.

Not to mention, they edited this amazing video down into 5 awesome minutes of fishing!

Enjoy.

Have you ever caught a bonefish before?

If not, you need to check out the amazing bonefish action in this video from South Andros Island in the Bahamas.

Some have called the Legendary Bair’s Lodge as one of the best places to have an amazing bonefish experience on the planet.

And as you will see in this video, anglers Alissa Vinoski (recently named as one of the 33 Must Know Female Anglers in Florida), Ali Hobson, and Patrick Rhea (the same guy that filmed and edited the hit music video “Fishing In Our Soul”) tear it up during a recent weekend at Bair’s Lodge.

Not only is the bonefishing amazing, but so are the people and the fishing guides.

Check out how much fun these guides are having putting people on bonefish.

Cigars, dancing on the poling platform, beer… sign me up!

Enjoy!

Bonefish?

Check.

Permit?

Check.

Tarpon?

Check.

Cuba?

Check.

No wonder they’ve been trying to keep us out of Cuba for so long! This place is one heck of an inshore fishery.

Just wait until you see this amazing fly fishing footage from Cuba put together by Fly Fishing Nation.

These guys had some serious inshore slam hookups!

Even the first 20 seconds where they showed the back-country Cuba mangroves were pretty awesome.

And then after seeing all of the sick tarpon jumps, this had me wanting to head down to Cuba this week.

Pretty amazing fishing.

Enjoy.

Have you ever heard of Alphonse Island?

Most people probably haven’t because it’s a private island in Seychelles that only a very small percentage of Americans ever get to see in their lifetime…

And the place is LOADED with saltwater game fish!

Regardless if you’ve heard of the island or not, after you see this fishing footage from Alphonse, the exclusive island will certainly be on your bucket list.

I mean, check out the little island where they eat lunch every day below!

Also, can you imagine catching a super inshore grand slam topped off with a GT and a billfish or two all in the same day!

Sick!

This Alphonse footage was filmed and edited by Black Fly Eyes, and according to the video this footage below is just the trailer (so there is full-length video coming as well).

We’ll keep you posted when we see it.

Enjoy.

Down in South Florida, the Mullet Run is currently in full effect…

If you aren’t familiar with the Mullet Run, it is the time of year on the east coast of Florida when the mullet migrate south along the Atlantic coast before heading offshore to spawn.

So when I came across this rare video footage of 10,000+ bonefish making their run to spawn offshore, I couldn’t think of a better time to post it.

Just wait until you see how big this school of bonefish is! And it is really wild to see bonefish coming up towards the top of the water like a porpoise before heading down to 160ft!

Not your typical bonefish move by any stretch of the imagination.

Here are the notes from the video:

During a recent expedition to The Bahamas, Dr. Andy Danylchuk (UMass Amherst), Dr. Aaron Adams (Bonefish & Tarpon Trust/Florida Institute of Technology), Dr. Jon Shenker (Florida Institute of Technology), and Zack Jud (Florida International University) reconfirmed that bonefish form massive spawning aggregations at very specific locations during specific lunar days

This bonefish run footage reconfirmed that bonefish form massive spawning aggregations at very specific locations during specific lunar days. Using manual tracking and depth sensors, they also documented that bonefish use depths of greater than 160 feet (50 m) when spawning, after which they return quickly to shallow water.

Enjoy this wild “Bonefish Run”.

Bravo AFTCO.

Another amazing fishing video.

(If you never saw their Redfish video, “BOOM! Now This Is How You Make A Redfish Video”, then CLICK HERE to watch it)

Now I don’t know about you, but this video has me wanting to head down to Miami for some Biscayne Bonefish action!

And as an angler that pales in comparison to my brother Luke with a fly rod, I actually liked to see some guys catching bonefish on spinning reels (where I am a little more comfortable).

Amazing fighting fish, amazing footage, and me thinks it would be tough to recreate a better Miami bonefish video. Once again, well done AFTCO.

Bonefish are known as one of the tougher fish to catch on the flats.

And after watching this video, I believe that this “bonefish legend” holds true for both man and shark…

You see, this fish are incredibly gifted at camouflaging themselves to blend in with the sandy bottom, they spook incredibly easy, and they are quite fast.

So when this shark saw that a local bonefish was hooked, he decided it might be a quick meal…

However, the bonefish had other plans.

Even while hooked on this angler’s fly line, the bonefish was able to escape the larger, but slower to react shark.

Finally, once the shark sees the angler there, the shark becomes tired of being made to look like a fool on camera, and quickly leaves the scene…

Well done bonefish, and well done angler on helping out the bonefish.

And thanks for sharing Fish along

Hooked Bonefish = Salt Strong

If you are an inshore angler in Florida, the ultimate catch is a Florida Inshore SUPER Grand Slam, which consists of catching a Permit, Tarpon, Bonefish, Snook, and Redfish.

And there is no place like Florida to do this.

So when we came across this awesome video (with one disturbing clip) from World Angling, we couldn’t help but share.

And yes, there are even some great inshore fishing bloopers in this reel as well.

Warning: If you get nauseous seeing someone crack their head on a boat, you might want to close your eyes about halfway through this video during the blooper reel…OUCH!

But the rest of this video is pretty amazing stuff!

Great job on this Florida Inshore Super Grand Slam!
