Happy Freshwater Friday… again!

Freshwater Friday is where we post a freshwater fishing video every Friday here on Salt Strong (it’s kind of like washing off with freshwater after fishing in the saltwater for 6 straight days…)

Sometimes the freshwater Friday videos are funny redneck videos like “What Happens When You Grab Bug Spray Instead Of Lighter Fluid For Your Boat Motor”.

Sometimes the freshwater Friday videos are bass doing crazy things like “Largemouth Bass Eats Alligator Caught On Film!”

And sometimes they are mad pike ferociously attacking lures like they hadn’t eaten in weeks as in the video below.

Definitely check out the entire video as you will see what the pike ended up breaking after attacking the lure so hard!

Amazing underwater attack footage for sure!

Enjoy.

Have you heard of the show “Silver Kings” yet?

If not, you’re about to!

Last month I posted a Tarpon trailer that went somewhat viral on our site called, “The South Florida Tarpon Trailer That Will Leave You With Goosebumps” (you can watch it here).

It was the Season 2 Trailer for the show…

And while I was doing some searching for tarpon videos yesterday, I came across the “Silver Kings” trailer for Season 1.

Curiosity got the best of me, and there I was last night… in front of my computer watching another tarpon video that gave me goosebumps and a burning desire to head back down to Islamorada…

Check out this amazing tarpon trailer, and don’t forget to check out the full-length “Silver Kings” TV shows that start up again in January 2016.

For more information about the show, the two featured tarpon guides (Capt. Bou Bosso and Capt. Rob Fordyce), and more, check our the main Silver Kings website here.

Yesterday I posted a video that really took off called, “Wait til’ You See These Massive GT Attacking More Aggressively Than Sharks On The Beach!” (you can watch it here)

And it just so happens that the Giant Trevally clip kicks off this cool “Explosive Bites & Fish Attacking” compilation.

Some pretty wild and aggressive bites in this video for sure.

Enjoy!

Talk about a feeding frenzy!

Many months ago, we had a crazy GT (Giant Trevally) video where a school of Giant Trevally were attacking fish up near the shore at such velocity that it almost seemed like someone had sped up the film (you can watch it here).

In fact, after we posted it a few people made comments saying there was no way the GT were moving that fast in the shallow water (but it was 100% real).

So when I saw this video below of some amazing up-close footage of GT attacking bait near the shore, it confirmed once again that these massive fish can move and attack quicker than almost any other species of large fish… even sharks.

Check out how quick these massive fish are moving and attacking here.

They look more like hungry piranhas!

Enjoy.

Note: This was filmed in Seychelles

Talk about the perfect underwater camera placement!

My brother Luke and I tried this one time in about 40 feet of water, and we never could get a perfect shot.

But our friend “Show Me The Snapper” managed to get some really amazing footage of not only a grouper eating his live bait on the hook, but then a shark coming after the hooked grouper!

You couldn’t ask for better underwater footage when you leave your GoPro down on the bottom of the ocean floor while fishing!

According to Show Me The Snapper, this was filmed in 60ft of water on the west coast of Florida in an area that he had lost many nice fish to sharks.

Enjoy and please share after you watch it.

Many fishermen call the sharks that swipe in and steal your fish after you put in all of the work to wear the fish out as “The Tax Man”.

And what’s worse that a “Tax Man”?

Two Tax Men!

In this wild video, an angler is bringing up a nice tarpon to the boat (I believe this is Boca Grande, Florida) when all of a sudden two bull sharks come up and tag team the tarpon right in front of the boat.

The entire ambush was caught on film by the guide in the tower, and this is certainly a day of tarpon fishing that these men will never forget.

Wowzers!

Russia can be a cruel place sometimes…

You can’t even tickle a monkfish without getting your hand slapped (or almost bitten off)…

In this video, a monkfish bites a diver in the hand to the point that the diver’s hand is stuck in its mouth like a vice.

So much so that they have to pry the monkfish mouth open with every object they could find on the dock.

All I can say is that this diver is extremely lucky he had thick dive gloves on… otherwise this one would have ended pretty nasty.

Pretty wild video!

Enjoy.

Have you ever seen a monkfish in real life?

If you ever do, you might want to keep your hands in your pockets (or wetsuit)…

FACT: The sea lions you see in aquariums and at Sea World are quite different than the sea lions out in the wild like the one in this video…

And the sea lions out in the wild can get very territorial, as this spearfisherman found out first hand.

Just when you think you feel pretty safe with a spear gun in your hand, a lightning fast sea lion can make you feel pretty vulnerable… pretty quick.

I bet you end up replaying this one a couple of times like I did!

WOWZERS!

At first I thought the sea lion had grabbed a fish right in front of the diver, but upon further review I noticed the bubbles were all coming from the sea lion basically “yelling” at the spearfisherman underwater.

Probably saying something like, “Don’t you go spearing my fish fool!”

In The Face!

We’ve seen some pretty wild moray eel videos this year at Salt Strong.

And some of them have been completely opposite in terms of the eel’s behavior.

For instance, the video of famous diver Valerie Taylor befriending an eel would make you think a moray eel was the most gentle creature in the sea (you can watch “This Woman Turns The Table On A Moray Eel” here).

On the other hand (foreshadowing pun), this guy lost an entire finger due to a moray eel mistaking his fingers for sausages! (You can watch “This is what happens when a moray eel mistakes a diver’s finger for a sausage here)

And in this video below, a dive master is showing his class of scuba divers how nice this moray eel is when nature backfires…

If you are wondering why the moral eel bit the diver, I can only assume that since moray eels are basically blind (they find their food using their keen sense of smell), that the diver had been touching fish and fish food so his mask probably had some fish scent on it after adjusting it and clearing it through the dive.

But that’s just my guess. What do you think?

Check it out!

Either way, OUCH!
