A few months back, we published an amazing (and somewhat controversial) video from Stellwagen Media called “This Louisiana Video Claims To Have Better Fishing Than Florida!” (watch it here if you never saw it).

In that video, Stellwagen showed some amazing redfish footage out of Louisiana that was truly a work of art.

Well Stellwagen is back, and in this video below on “The Ultimate Fighting Trash Fish”, Stellwagen and director Nick Valaskatgis investigate why Jacks get such a bad rap when they are one of the best fighting fish in the water (pound for pound).

The even get to interview Bryan Holeman, who is apparently a “actual bear”.

My input is I hate catching Jacks when I have the perfect bait for another species such as a snook or cobia, and all of a sudden I feel the head bobbing pull of the notorious Jack Crevalle…

But if I ever want an amazing fight on light tackle, there is no better fish to target in the Gulf of Mexico than the hard fighting Jack.

This is crazy!

Can you imagine being out in Alaska enjoying a nice day of halibut fishing when a Killer Whale comes out of nowhere and steals your fish!

It’s one thing to have a shark take a bite of your fish, but how many people can say a Killer Whale stole their fish!

These guys certainly can.

Frank Sanders, Charlie Barberini, and a couple other “ring loving” guys have the experience of a lifetime.

Enjoy!

We have seen some pretty amazing viral fishing videos this year since my brother and I started Salt Strong.

What’s funny is that it is shockingly hard to predict which fishing videos will actually go Viral.

Some of the videos that I am certain will go viral don’t take off like I thought they would, while others that I would never would have bet money on, end up taking off. However, every now and I then I predict one perfectly (but it is rare).

At the end of the day, you just never know what the majority of people are going to find so amazing they just have to share.

All we can do is keep showing off the very best viral fishing videos and letting you decide.

Finally, since we officially took our site SaltStrong.com on January 1st of this year, it made complete sense to do a Top 10 Most Viral Fishing Videos for the first 6 months of the year.

Because let’s face it, unless you have been coming to our site every day since January, you might have missed a few of these. And there are some pretty sick fishing videos in this list below.

Hope you enjoy!

Probably the best Bull Redfish on topwater footage we have ever seen here at Salt Strong so far (and we have seen a ton of redfish footage).

And just a warning, you might find yourself moving your head up and down dancing to this song and video from the get go…

In this amazing redfish footage, these big reds are exploding on topwater flies in shallow water. The up close and personal footage of these fish is truly art, so big props to both the anglers and the videographers.

The majority of the video is just the strike, and then they show all the fish caught at the end so stay tuned for the full video.

This video describes with no words why so many love to sight fish… these guys are my new heroes.

FACT: Catching monster snook on a fly rod isn’t easy…

And many times catching the biggest snook on any type of fishing reel requires incredible patience, testing, and travel.

Yep, travel.

And in this video, Todd Moen has to go through a lot to get to his snook honey hole:

  • Trekking through mud for who knows how long
  • Wading up to his chest in unfamiliar waters (with unfamiliar animals in the water like water snakes)
  • Dealing with Mosquitos the size of small birds
  • And when he finally does get in a boat, he realizes he will be on a small canoe for the entire day with little comfort, and certainly no amenities

Regardless of all Todd went through, we thank him for doing it (and for bringing along a camera with him).

Because this is probably one of the very best big Snook on fly videos we have seen yet. You will feel like you are in the canoe with Todd Moen when he puts the smack down on some big Snook with his fly rod.

And this video will have you contemplating trading all your spinning gear in for a buggy whip and a plane ticket to Mexico.

So the question remains, would you go through all of this to catch a big snook on the fly?

I know I sure would.

A few months back we posted a bluefish video that really took off.

And it wasn’t a surprise to me, the video was amazing. The guy had multiple cameras going (one on his head, one on his rod, one underwater, etc) and created a one-of-a-kind surf-fishing video called “When Bluefish Attack” (you can watch it here).

Since then, we really haven’t seen any bluefish videos come across our desk that we think have the ability to be a Viral Fishing Video.

But this bluefish video below does (especially for anyone that likes surf fishing, catching fish from the beach, or just likes catching the hard-fighting bluefish).

This video was filmed by Angry Fish contributor Chris Fabiano, and it takes place somewhere in New Jersey.

And it is clear to see they don’t lack baitfish on this beach… the anglers are literally surrounded by baitfish and probably stepped on a few by accident they are in stacked in there so deep.

Of course the bluefish are taking every possible advantage of this massive beach bait pod, so much so that there is bloodstained water everywhere.

Great job by Chris on getting the slo-mo of the bluefish nailing the topwater lures. Pretty sweet action!

At the very end, you can even see quite a few of the baitfish flopping on the beach as I guess they would rather die on land than getting sliced by a bluefish. Ouch!

P.S. – If you enjoyed this bluefish video, please tag a friend or share away. You Rock. Pa-POW!

It’s a fact that Tarpon are one of the toughest fighting sport fish in the sea.

The raw power combined with the unforgettable aerial show that Tarpon put on while trying to throw a hook make them one of the most sought after fish to land for most saltwater anglers.

But did you also know that these amazing prehistoric looking fish can gauge bait that is flying in the air… and swipe it in mid-air just like a dog does a frisbee or a dog treat?

Pretty cool stuff.

I am betting you have seen countless tarpon (at places like Boca Grande or Robbie’s of Islamorada) jump up and grab bait out of people’s hands, but it is entirely different to jump out of the water and catch a moving bait.

Well done Tarpon!

And thanks to our friends at Mystery Tackle Box for filming this one.

If you liked it, share it with a friend that loves Tarpon. POW!

This video is kind of like a Lays potato chip, you can’t just watch it once…

In fact, I must have watched it 5 times in a row after I saw it for the first time this week. It’s pretty rad.

Here’s the scoop on this Great White Shark Aerial Attack:

This amazing Great White aerial attack is actually a Great White hitting a seal decoy dragged behind a boat. These powerful Great White sharks hunt seals by coming up from the deep at high speeds, and hitting the seal clear out of the water. The shark’s speed is enough to lift the seal and itself (many of these Great Whites weigh in upwards of 2,000 pounds) straight out of the water.

Also, this video was captured in Table Bay (Cape Town, South Africa), the biggest breeding ground of Great White sharks in the world.

P.S. – If you think your friends would find this Great White Video amazing, please share it with them – I’d really appreciate it

The other day we posted a video that went Viral with nurse sharks in a feeding frenzy up on a dock. It was called, “This is what happens when you treat Nurse Sharks like Dogs” (watch it here).

In that video, you can see some of the tamest nurse sharks out there.

However, in this video, you see just the opposite… as this nurse shark aggressively attacks a lionfish shortly after smelling blood from the diver’s knife stab.

And even though nurse sharks don’t have gnarly teeth like a bull shark, they can still leave a nasty reminder on your arm or hand that you definitely don’t want to be bitten by a nurse.

This diver is lucky that he pulled his hand away just in time, as it was inches from getting nailed. Check it out below.
