Happy Freshwater Friday!

If you have been following us for a week or more, you know that every Friday morning we take the salt out of the water and present you with a freshwater fishing video.

Well this week we came across an incredibly popular video from China where a duck is making it a priority to feed these Koi in a pond.

The lesson: If you want to make sure you fish are well fed and fat, get a duck.

Enjoy.

For all of us that are married (like me), angler Dustin Miller nailed it on this one.

And this video rings true even louder when you have young kids at home…

My brother Luke is single with no kids, and I don’t think he quite grasps how much tougher it is for me to get up and hit the water on a moments notice when I have a wife and two kids under age 5… and I own a saltwater fishing company for crying out loud!

This video below does a great job of telling the story of the hall pass, and he brings up a couple of really good points for us married with young kid anglers…

Like the fact that you simply can’t come home without a fishing story (and an accompanying picture to prove you caught a fish)…

Nothing worse than having to face your spouse and tell them you were skunked after you landed a fishing hall pass.

Well done Dustin!

Enjoy.

Are you Salt Strong?

I guess I should start off by telling you what makes a person Salt Strong…

But let me first warn you, just because you take a trip to the beach once a year doesn’t mean you are Salt Strong…

So what is Salt Strong?

  • Salt Strong stands for Family, Freedom, & Fishing…
  • Where the love and passion for being on or near the water with a fishing rod in your hand is enough to make you forget about everything else going on in your life…
  • When you feel more at home on a boat, kayak, paddleboard than you do a car…
  • When you still get goosebumps going over a bridge and seeing saltwater on either side of you…
  • When your ears perk up every time you hear someone telling a fishing story…
  • When you dream about leaving your job to go fishing…
  • And when you know that you have “Fishing in your Soul…”

That’s when you know you are Salt Strong.

And if you believe this describes you, then please do the following 2 things (watch the video and get 2 FREE Salt Strong decals):

And we hope you enjoyed the “Fishing In Our Soul” music video.

The lyrics to this amazing fishing song were originally written by Capt. John Gunter of Off the Hook Charters (see his fishing charter website here), and the amazing videography was done by Patrick Rhea of LivitFilms and Nick Shirghio of Nick Shirghio Photography.

The entire video was filmed in and around the Boca Grande and Little Gasparilla Island area in record time (a day and a half to film an entire music video).

Note: 100% of the fish shown in the video were caught on artificial lures using the strategies/techniques that are taught in our private Inshore Slammer course.

We hope you enjoyed watching the video as much as we did filming it.

Big thanks to Sara Michaels at 97 Country for helping put all of this together. You rock girl!

Is there anything worse than sitting through a boring board meeting at work?

I sat through many in my 13 years in the financial services world, and I don’t miss meetings at all!

In fact, our Salt Strong meetings are fun, quick, and shoes optional these days…

And isn’t that really how all board meeting should be?

Wouldn’t life be less stressful and fulfilling if board meetings were all fun?

We can only dream…. we can only dream…

On a serious note, the marketing team at YOLO boards absolutely crushed it on this video!

Well done YOLO.

Enjoy… and remember this video the next time you are snoring through a boring board meeting…

Happy Freshwater Friday?

WARNING: This Taylor Swift song might be stuck in your head no matter how much you tell yourself and your friends you hate it…

The guy behind this bass fishing music video parody is Tyler Anderson, and his incredibly popular YouTube bass fishing channel is called TylersReelFishing.

Tyler called the bass fishing video Taylor Swift – “Blank Space” PARODY (Fish Dreams), and so far it has over 58,000 views on YouTube alone.

Check it out, and best of luck in your bass fishing endeavors, Tyler!

Enjoy.

This looks like a freaking blast!

And if you recognize the anglers in this “Couching” video, they have made a couple of appearances on Salt Strong before.

Their last video to make our home page was “You’ve Got To See This Angler Take A RIDE On A Huge Grouper!”.

And they have had a couple of other sick spearfishing videos as well (they go by the name “Terra Australis”).

In this video, they had the film crew ready, they had the fishing gear ready, but the wind was so bad that it just made no sense to even hit the water.

So they did the next best thing…

Pulled out some old couches, hooked them up to a truck, and went “Couching” on some sand dunes.

Check out this awesome footage!

Would you buy saltwater fish from three guys that pulled up to your place with the following names on their truck?

  • Larry HOOK
  • Moe LINE
  • Curly SINKER

Well, this lady fell for the Three Stooges “Fish Pitch” hook, line, and sinker…

And she ended up paying dearly with a mackerel to the face!

Hilarious slapstick comedy at its finest!

Here is the list of fish that Moe rolls off his tongue…

“We have rock cod, sea bass, albacore, and pickerel, sand dab, yellowtail, tuna fish, and mackerel, bluefish, sailfish, carp and tarpon, if you wish… swordfish, whitefish, herring and gefilte fish.!”

This footage was from the popular Three Stooges short called “Cookoo Cavaliers”.

Two things are for certain when you pull up your boat to Frenchy’s Restaurant in Clearwater Beach, Florida to get one of their famous buffalo grouper sandwiches..

  1. A gal by the name of Linda will most likely be on the dock throwing lassos at dock cleats, and tying up boats faster than lightning.
  2. You do NOT want to challenge Linda to either a dock line handling contest OR an arm-wrestling contest. She is tough as nails, and one heck of a dock line handler!

Who would have thought you could tie down a nice Yellowfin so well barely bending down?

Well done Linda from Frenchy’s!

Enjoy.

No Shoes Nation!

Talk about a hard-hitting song that every angler can relate with at one point or another…

And probably one of the many reasons so many of us turn to fishing and being out on the water to clear our minds…

Regardless if you are a Kenny Chesney fan or not, it’s tough to not love this song and this saltwater fishing video. Ol’ Kenny Chesney nailed it!

My only complaint is that they didn’t show Kenny landing any big fish (although we did get to see Kenny Chesney holding a nice bull dolphin). But I guess these days you have to appeal to the masses, and showing a fish out of the water might hurt some people’s feelings…

At any rate, amazing job Kenny Chesney!

Definitely my favorite Kenny Chesney fishing video yet.

In fact, it just made our Top 10 Best Fishing Song List of All Time!

Big thanks to Joey Spanjers from California for sending this over.
