IMPORTANT WARNING: Kids, adults, and anglers of all sizes and ages… do NOT try this at home. It could end up costing you your fishing rod, your boat, or even your life…

In what could be the most dangerous and riskiest fishing stunt ever captured on film, Captain Brant (from Angler Up With Capt. Brant) and his sidekick fishing buddy not only take bananas out fishing, but they use them for bait.

Yep, bananas for bait… and I know what you are thinking right now…

Has the world gone completely mad?

Or have these anglers just gone “Bananas”? (what a zinger!)

Now before you watch the video, it’s important to note that when the monster snapper are literally next to your boat begging to get caught (most likely from a nice round of chum), it probably isn’t that tough to catch them on anything.

However, we must give credit to Capt. Brant for having the courage to take bananas out in the first place.

He is very fortunate that the fishing gods were kind to him that day and didn’t sink his boat, or explode his engine, or send a pod of porpoises to scare every fish in the vicinity away…

It is also important to note that there was no footage of them making it back safely with no boat or mechanical issues… just saying… haha

Here at Salt Strong, we highly recommend that no one take physical bananas out on the boat while fishing. In fact, we went as far as to create a shirt to let all of the fish know your boat is “Banana Free”.

Enjoy.

Wow!!!

I had to watch this one a few times!

Here is the scoop:

A couple of large tuna were swimming around a harbor in Spain and these locals and tourists starting feeding them.

Of course, anytime there is free bread to be found, seagulls show up as well.

This one seagull landed at the wrong place and wrong time to find himself swallowed by a tuna.

Well, apparently tuna do not like the taste of seagull, as the tuna spits the gull out and moves on.

According to the viewers, the seagull continued to fly away and appeared to be unharmed (just a bit shocked I’m sure)

Enjoy!

Big thanks to John Stanford of Charlotte, NC for sending this in.

The Giant Trevally (aka “GT”) is one of the strongest fighting fish (pound for pound) in the ocean.

If you asked 100 avid saltwater fly fishing anglers to name their bucket list fish to catch, you would hear many of them mention the Giant Trevally.

It’s like fighting a runaway train!

So when I saw this young guy attempt to land a GT using nothing but a short 400lb leader line, I knew it would get interesting.

According to the Fishing The Edge host, these GT are all in the 60-pound range (20-25 kilograms).

Enjoy.

Note: Alex is a full-time trained professional fishing guide that has done this many times. Kids, do NOT try this at home (and if you find schools of GT at your dock, call me so I can come over and catch one)

Thank goodness the creators of “The WaterCar Panther” were smart enough to show the world that their “Water Car” can also take you fishing…

Otherwise, I probably would not have been able to showcase it on our fishing site.

I kept watching the video wondering why they hadn’t thought to put some rod holders on the car, and then the clip finally came where they had a few rods.

Looks like they thought of everything!

I do wish they would have shown someone actually catching a fish from the car. That would have been awesome!

There’s not much to say about the WaterCar Panther that can’t be said in the video.

The WaterCar Panther does all of the following:

  • It drives like a normal car
  • It can instantly be turned into a boat
  • You can water ski behind it
  • You can fish from it
  • You can pick up chicks with it
  • And you can let the world know you are awesome

So how much does the WaterCar cost?

Well, we checked out their site, the cars are real, the company is more than legit, and people are paying between $126,000 and $155,000 for a WaterCar.

How much would you pay for something like this?

Personally, if I had $150,000 to spend, it would be going towards a bad to the bone boat and not a car…

Either way, enjoy.

Normally we would not promote any video encouraging the “crashing of a wedding”…

But where we come from, if fishing is involved, it’s always ok.

I mean, Peter and the disciples went fishing the day after Jesus was crucified, so why can’t Lunkerdog do a few power casts at a wedding?

I digress…

Check out Capt. Jeff Maggio (aka Lunkerdog) and his crew doing their latest promo for the new Lunkderdog Fishing Rod Series.

Brilliant idea!

The only thing that could have made it better is if one of them fell in from their momentum. I was waiting for it.

The best news is that this will be a memory the bride and her friends will cherish for the rest of their life… I mean, how many people can say they had power casters at their wedding?

Great job Lunkerdog, Chip, Mike, and crew.

Regardless if you are currently a teenager or if you are 90 years old, you probably know and can recite at least one Lynyrd Skynyrd song.

In fact, there is running joke among cover bands that you can request any song except Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird” as it was the most requested song in bars across the country for many years.

So when my buddy (and musician) Joe Hysell sent this rare Ronnie Van Zant “fishing interview” over to me from Country Rebel, I had to share it.

I mean, the current lead singer of Lynyrd Skynyrd is talking about the following three things that I think we can all agree with:

  • Fishing
  • Freedom
  • Love of music

Check out this cool interview below.

Everyone always says that there is nothing like fishing for redfish in Louisiana, but they never mentioned Bigfoot.

If you haven’t seen this “Sasquatch” in fishing videos before, it’s the guys behind Lateral Line Media that always seem to find some creative way to get the Squatch (aka Jeff) in a few shots.

In this video, they are out fishing near New Orleans with Al Keller of NOLA Guides going after redfish during last year’s “Polar Vortex…”

Some amazing footage of our beloved redfish during a cold front.

Great job guys.

Enjoy.

It’s Freshwater Friday time again!

And today, it’s a special episode because it’s Freshwater FAIL Friday…

In the video below, a Turkish angler finally lands the pike of his dreams, only to be punked by the pike right as he was getting a good photo.

I won’t ruin it for you, check out what happens in this funny video.

Has this ever happened to you?

Yep, it’s that time again…

Freshwater Friday!

And after seeing this video, I’m debating whether we need to make a new “No Cats On Board” performance shirt that says “No Giant Cats On Board”…

At any rate, the one thing that is for sure is this video would make Mike Tyson tear up to watch… (the boxer was infamous for his monster collection of pet pigeons)

And don’t worry Iron Mike, even though this video is in Chinese, there is no interpretation needed.

Simply nature at play.

And it doesn’t hurt that the pigeons keep coming back to the exact same place to get terrorized again… will they ever learn?

I am betting that the mayor of New York has probably already looked into getting some of these giant pigeon-eating catfish in the public parks there…

Any idea on what the guy is saying?

Let us know in the comments.
