Imagine enjoying a nice day on the beach with your family in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida when all of a sudden you see someone with a fishing pole reeling in a monster 13ft Hammerhead Shark right where you were just swimming…

As you can imagine, this scene created some chaos from onlookers at this Ft. Lauderdale beach, and I can only imagine that no one was going back in the water in that area anytime soon (even though it would have been just as safe as before, and that hammerhead certainly went as far away from that place as he could…)

Either way, it certainly made the day unforgettable for the beachgoers that got to see this!

It was a great job on the release (especially considering all of the mayhem behind them), and beach lovers shouldn’t be too worried about sharks like this coming up into the shallows where they are swimming.

For instance, this huge hammerhead shark was hooked hundreds of feet away from the beach while on the pier, and large hammerheads like this rarely come in the shallows of the beach.

Note: The anglers in the video are known as the Infinity Fishing Team.

Enjoy and Fish On!

If you have followed us here at Salt Strong for any amount of time, you probably know we are big advocates of catch and release fishing.

Must read related post: How To Properly Catch & Release Fish Without Killing Them”

Does that mean we don’t ever keep fish for dinner?

Heck no.

What it really means is we only keep a fish if we really need it for food.

Just because there are limits in place for a certain fish doesn’t mean we need to hit them… if we all limited out every day there would be nothing left for the next generation.

And that’s one of many reasons that we like the blokes from Morningtide Fishing so much. These guys are legit. Here are just a few other reasons to subscribe to these Morningtide anglers:

  • They are extreme.
  • They are entertaining.
  • You never know what they heck they are going to do in their wild land-based fishing videos.
  • They respect the fish (perhaps more than anyone in the world).

Check out what they do in this sick video below to land this fish.

Awesome sauce!

You guys are certainly Salt Strong!

Now we are just waiting on our invitation to go fish with the Morningtide guys so we can hand deliver them some Salt Strong gear

Angler Dennis Verreet is well-known in Australia for landing some of the biggest game fish from land.

In fact, he has been working on beating numerous world record catches…

The video title mentioned a potential land-based world record on spinning tackle for this beast of a yellowfin tuna, but I didn’t see any final documentation.

However, it did mention that the tuna in this video ended up weighing in at 230lbs.

That’s a big tuna for a boat, not to mention landing it from rocks!

Well done Dennis.

And well done Dennis’s ladyfriend with that monster gaff!

The MorningTide Fishing dudes are back with another epic land-based fishing adventure!!!

Except this time, they go air-based to get land-based to find new fishing ledges…

You’ll see what I mean when you watch their awesome new video below.

And if you aren’t familiar with the hard-core (and just as hard-core on conserving fish for the next generation) anglers over at MorningTide Fishing, here are a few of our favorite videos by them this year:

Bet they are glad that Jonny was along for this trip (or maybe not after he fooled them about Bull Sharks following them…)

Enjoy.

If you were one of the few that missed the Viral Fishing Video called, “This Is How You Land 43-inch Snook From One Of The Snookiest Fishing Piers In Florida Like a BOSS”, then make sure to check that video out next.

Why?

Well, it was part one of this two-part Juno Beach Pier snook fishing video with Ryan Izquierdo.

In the first video, Ryan and his teenage fishing buddies land monster snook after monster snook right off the pier (Juno Beach Pier).

And stay tuned til’ the end as these guys actually land a small Goliath Grouper as well.

Enjoy.

Important Note: When handling big snook like this, always make sure to hold them with two hands (where your second hand is giving them stomach support). It will help ensure they live long after you release them.

If you never saw the original video where BlacktipH and the “LakeForkGuy” go fishing for monster stingrays and The Lake Fork Guy slips, falls, and loses approximately $3,000 of equipment to the stingray, then you have to watch that video first right here.

And if you saw it and need a reminder of what went in the water during that video, here is what he lost (and later regained):

  • Shimano Stella STL 10000 Reel ($1,109.00 here on Amazon)
  • Shimano Terez Rod – Somewhere between $389 and $700 depending on what Terez version they were using
  • New GoPro Black Version: $400
  • Lake Fork Guy’s Dignity: Priceless

So when I heard that BlacktipH and LakeForkGuy were going to head back to the exact same dock and do it all over again, I had to watch.

Note: this time Mr. Lake Fork came prepared… no more flipflops…

Watch the redemption rematch between angler and stingray (spotted eagle ray) from a dock below.

Enjoy.

What were you doing in your spare time when you were 16 years old

Chances are good that you weren’t catching 43-inch SLOB Snook from a public pier like it was going out of style…

But that is exactly what 16-year old Ryan Izquierdo (he turns 17 this Friday so a Big Happy Birthday Ryan) and his buddies do any chance they get…

Whether it be on someone’s boat, the beach, or this Snook-infested pier (Juno Beach Pier), these guys are outside getting their fill of fishing.

In fact, catching monster fish is all Ryan thinks about… his ultimate goal would be to have his own boat and to make a living on the water teaching others how to catch fish.

Makes me proud to see teenagers like this out there with a burning desire to fish and to help others catch fish. Certainly millions of times better than staying inside stuck to their phones or an Xbox…

And yes, this is the same “Snooky” Juno Beach Pier that we featured a couple of weeks ago where some anglers jumped into the water. It was called, “These Anglers Jump Into The Largest School Of Spawning Snook Ever Caught On Video!” (you can watch it here).

Great job Ryan!

Keep on fishing man!

I love this thing!

It’s basically a Fishing Bait Rocket Launcher!

It’s officially called the “Sand Blaster Bait Caster”, and the guy in the video using this amazing fishing gadget is Tom Clark. The company that makes and sells these things is called “Bunker Up Fishin'” (check them out here on this site).

Certainly a game-changer for land-based beach anglers who enjoy things like surf fishing, sea wall fishing, and pier fishing.

Who ever would have imagined there would be a cannon-like bait caster that could launch a heavy bait out 300 yards! That is 3 football fields!

All I know is you better have a HUGE spool of line on your spinning reel because if you hook into a big shark out 300 yards, don’t expect it to just come right in without taking out any line.

Note: These retail for $999.99 (that includes a 6-pack of bait molds, 6 rigs, a rig holder, and all shipping costs)

Snook Heaven exists!

In all seriousness, if there was a Snook Heaven, this would be it.

I have heard about these unbelievable schools of snook spawning in Florida, but had never seen one up close like this.

But thanks to our friends over at Landshark Fishing TV who had the courage to jump in the water at the Juno Beach Pier (where the water isn’t always this clear, and there are usually a few monster sharks hanging around), we all get to witness something pretty special…

The largest Snook Spawning ritual caught on video yet!

And check out the snook at the 2:21 mark. He has a leader he is carrying around (the Ultimate Snook badge of honor no doubt).

In other news, if you can’t catch a Snook from the Juno Beach Pier, then you can’t catch one anywhere…

Enjoy this amazing footage, and thanks to Landshark Fishing for sending it over.
