These guys are WAY too calm to be standing up on paddleboards chasing a great white shark around!

I think most people would have been laying down on their board and looking for the closest beach.

But thanks to Courtney Hemerick and the Current Crew team of extreme paddleboarders, we all get to experience what it would be like to be just a few feet away from a great white shark while standing up on a paddleboard.

And like I have said numerous times this week, it’s almost as if the sharks know that it is shark week!

Well done sharks!

Some sharks love being in front of the camera, and some sharks hate it… and this shark was of the latter group for sure.

Apparently this tiger shark was fed up with scuba divers taking footage while down in the Bahamas, and he decided to take matters into his own hands… or mouth.

Kudos to the diver for having the courage to hang on to the camera while the massive shark pulled him through the water.

But eventually the shark made a roll, knocking the diver loose, and he was on his way to film Water World II with Kevin Costner. Haha.

I am guessing this was a pretty expensive underwater camera. Wonder if they ever found it? Let us know if you have any details.

My guess is that it’s sitting on the ocean floor somewhere with some amazing shark footage.

Either way, enjoy!

As I mentioned in my earlier shark post, “I think the sharks must know it’s Shark Week”!

This video below literally just occurred yesterday (so you are one of the first to see it), and I have to imagine that this is the first great white shark photobomb ever… and definitely the first aerial photobomb!

Here is the scoop in this video:

  • Remo Sabatini is down in South Africa (Mossel Bay) doing a great white shark excursion
  • While Remo is down in the shark cage getting some wild up-close shots of a large Great White Shark chomping down on a dead tuna bait, the unthinkable happens…
  • The Great White gets upstaged by his buddy who photobombed him in the air!

Amazing video footage!!!

It’s almost as if they know…

How is it that every year shark week rolls around, the very best shark footage starts magically appearing?

Is it possible the sharks know what week it is and that we need footage of them?

This “Up Close & Personal” footage happened just a few days ago as Australian diver Brett Vercoe stumbled upon a dead sperm whale carcass that appeared to have some visitors.

Turns out there were not one, but FIVE massive sharks (Great White Sharks and Tiger Sharks) eating away at this dead sperm whale.

Here are Brett’s notes from the wild shark and dead whale experience:

“A dead adult Sperm whale washed in from off the Continental shelf and brought with it a host of large predators including three White pointers up to 4.5 metres in length and two Tiger sharks up to 4.2 metres long. I spent 3 hours watching as the sharks leisurely took advantage of this abundant food source.

The next morning it washed up on Campbells Beach and was buried precariously close to the waters edge where it will take years to slowly decompose – all the while leaching rotting whale scent into the nearby waters”

In case you missed the memo, it’s Shark Week.

So we would be remiss if we didn’t feature at least one good shark video this week. Bad news is that I just didn’t see any awesome shark videos that were worthy of being featured on the home page that weren’t already there…

But then I finally came across this one (this video below was just published in the last few days and it is spreading like wildfire).

Here are the notes from the actual video author:

While shark cage diving, our cage was attacked by an 11.5 foot Great White shark. The round buoy attached to the side of the cage was bent in half. Some of the lining of the outside blue barrier bar was bitten through as well. It was quite the up close and personal experience!

This was a trip I went on during one of my days off from volunteering at Cango Wildlife Ranch. The video was shot with a GoPro Hero 4 wide angle. The shark was even closer than he appears. I apologize for the shakiness….. and my friend’s screaming.

Hope you enjoy!

We have seen some pretty amazing viral fishing videos this year since my brother and I started Salt Strong.

What’s funny is that it is shockingly hard to predict which fishing videos will actually go Viral.

Some of the videos that I am certain will go viral don’t take off like I thought they would, while others that I would never would have bet money on, end up taking off. However, every now and I then I predict one perfectly (but it is rare).

At the end of the day, you just never know what the majority of people are going to find so amazing they just have to share.

All we can do is keep showing off the very best viral fishing videos and letting you decide.

Finally, since we officially took our site SaltStrong.com on January 1st of this year, it made complete sense to do a Top 10 Most Viral Fishing Videos for the first 6 months of the year.

Because let’s face it, unless you have been coming to our site every day since January, you might have missed a few of these. And there are some pretty sick fishing videos in this list below.

Hope you enjoy!

If you have been to our site before, you know that Captain Ben Chancey of Chew on This is a seasoned pro at catching monster fish out of a kayak.

In fact, it was his video that first surfaced proving that a Goliath Grouper could be landed from a kayak (see that video here).

Ironically, he was using the exact same kayak as he was in this video that he just published yesterday…

However, this video of Capt. Ben taking on a huge shark from a kayak has a different result… and I still can’t believe how it ended.

I won’t ruin it for you, but let’s just say Captain Ben is one lucky fisherman!

I’ve said it a thousand times…the craziest college students in any college in America are usually members of the Spearfishing Club…

Actually I’ve never once said that…until today.

The Florida Atlantic University Spearfishing Club is crazy (in a good way of course)!

I came across this awesome video on YouTube where these college kids are spearfishing Cobia off the backs of Bull Sharks, and I just had to share it!

They don’t just get a single cobia or see just a single Bull Shark while free diving, they get tons of them!

Whatever area in South Florida they filmed all of this is simply loaded with nice Cobia and big Bull Sharks.

The fact that none of the Bull Sharks go crazy from the blood in the water surprised me, but I guess the sharks were glad that the spearfishermen weren’t aiming at them.

Well done Florida Atlantic University Spearfishing Club! Well done.

Spearing Cobia is hard enough as it is, but you guys brought it to an entire new game by spearfishing Cobia off the backs of Bull Sharks!

I’ve seen some big hammerheads, but I haven’t seen one this close to the beach before (and kind of glad about that).

It looked like it was up in less than 2 feet of water at one point when it went up towards the beach.

According to angler Fed Moore, this is an estimated 10ft Hammerhead Shark that was cruising along the Pensacola Pass near Fort Pickens.

Ironically, I was swimming with my kids at Pensacola beach not very far from this while it happened. But with the clarity of the water, and the size of the hammerhead, I am fairly certain every beachgoer would have seen this beast before it got too close.

Either way, great job getting the footage Mr. Moore, and glad you still have your trolling motor.
