There aren’t many ocean-dwelling creatures as majestic as the Whale Shark. These beautiful whale sharks are known as the largest fish in the sea (growing upwards of 40+ feet long), the move slowly and feed mostly on plankton, macroalgae, and small larvae, and they have a lifespan of approximately 70 years.

However, that isn’t the case when a whale shark gets wrapped in a fishing net…

Fortunately for this whale shark, the divers at Seadoors found this whale shark in the Philippines that was “wrapped” in an old net, came to its rescue with a knife, and freed the whale shark back to normal.

Make sure to keep watching as this whale shark (named “Spooky”) continues to play around and entertain the divers. Probably its way of saying thank you.

Amazing job Jonathan and the Seadoors team.

New month, new Great White Shark sighting…

Last month, the news feeds went crazy over the Great White Shark that approached a diver in the Gulf of Mexico near Apalachicola, FL (watch that video here).

Well, this month it appears as though the Great Whites want to get some exposure on the East Coast of Florida… in particular, Jupiter, Florida.

Here’s the scoop on this Great White encounter:

40-year veteran diver Jonathan Dickenson of Florida went out spear fishing with his wife Bobbi around 8 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2015 near Jupiter, FL. Shortly after getting to their diving spot, he spotted the approximately 16-foot, 2,000-pound shark (these numbers according to Jonathan’s interview with the local news) while swimming near the Deep Ledges.

Said Jonathan about the encounter, “To see a great white is just amazing, they’re just so majestic. It was awesome.”

Apparently the shark hung around for about 2 minutes before swimming off.

Here is Jonathan’s comment on his YouTube channel from yesterday’s encounter:

“What an amazing encounter off Jupiter today with a Great White Shark. She was 15 to 16 feet long and absolutely beautiful. So glad Bobbi and I could see her together!”

This could be the most overall exciting independent fishing video that we have seen come out of the Florida Keys!

And I’ll be honest, after watching this video (3 times), I still didn’t know what picture I wanted to use for the post cover… there were just so many different things to choose from…

Heck, I didn’t even know what part of the video to focus on for the title!

Why?

Because this video has sick sl0-mo Tarpon footage, these guys go swimming with a huge school of tarpon, they catch a Goliath Grouper, they catch sharks… the video just keeps getting better and better!

But I finally decided to feature the scene where a huge hammerhead is trying to attack their hooked tarpon, and one of the anglers launches a dead Jack out to fool the shark into leaving the Tarpon alone.

After yesterday’s heartbreaking video of a baby Tarpon getting eaten by a Shark (you can see that video here next), this was an uplifter!

And make sure you watch until the end. Even after the scene with the dead Jack decoy and the Hammerhead, the video keeps going. In fact, a family of Hammerhead Sharks gets lured in by another string of dead Jack Crevalle.

NUTS!

Well done Trent Long, Dan Carvin, Ben Kurth, Chris Davis and Tommy Strickland. You guys are officially declared “Salt Strong”.

Enjoy this amazing Florida Keys Tarpon video below.

P.S. – If you watch closely, the Tarpon swims off when they trick the Hammerhead. Well done guys!

P.P.S. – If you think your angler friends would find this Florida Keys video as amazing as I did, please share it with them – I’d really appreciate it

Sometimes nature can be incredibly beautiful, peaceful, and serene…

And sometimes it can be downright cruel…

Unfortunately for most fish (including this baby tarpon), much of life is a daily grind of avoiding being eaten by something bigger than you. It truly is the ultimate “dog eat dog” world.

In this video, an angler hooks a baby tarpon while fly fishing, and out of nowhere comes a shark that chases down the baby tarpon in and around the mangroves, until finally getting what he came for…

Dog gone Sharks! Always coming in to get their piece of the action.

Note: You can tell from the video that the angler was upset, and it is pretty clear that he didn’t “bait” the shark. So PETA disciples, please keep any of your negative comments to yourself.

Everyone else, enjoy the video.

What do you do when you have mastered the Rubik’s Cube in classrooms, gyms, friend’s basements, and out in parks?

You take the challenge underwater of course.

But just going underwater with a mask, snorkel, and Rubik’s Cube is kind of boring. Need to spice it up a bit, right?

Well this Rubik’s Cube phenom did just that by setting a new World Record by solving a Rubik’s Cube in a Shark Tank (with some sharks circling around), all in 15 seconds.

And if you blink, you might miss the fact that he solves the Rubik’s Cube twice!

I had to watch this one a couple of times myself. Crazy!

This guy is certainly “Salt Strong”.

P.S. – If you think your friends would find this as amazing as I did, please share it with them – I’d really appreciate it.

Meet Ron Linder…

The 81-year old shark catcher that has one of the most miraculous shark fishing stories caught on video that I have ever seen!

First of all, this 81-year old legend is out fishing for big sharks in a canoe (it’s actually a type of “Gheenoe“).

Then, just like Babe Ruth predicting a home run by aiming his bat to the outfield bleachers, 81-year old Ron Linder calls his shot by saying he wants to catch a big Bull Shark that day.

Shortly after, Ron is hooked up with a big, bad, Bull Shark that isn’t going to let the old fisherman off without a fight.

As you will see, this big bull shark not only wraps him around a crab trap once, but then a second time, and then it wraps the line around the prop of their little engine!

The fact the line didn’t snap or that the shark didn’t get off is crazy!

Just wait until you see this entire video!

Great White Sharks seem to be making more appearances than ever before!

We aren’t sure if the steady increase in Great White sighting is because they are growing in population, that they are exploring new waters (like the upper Gulf of Mexico near the Florida panhandle in this video), or if we are just seeing more because there are GoPros capturing more underwater footage than ever before…

But at any rate, these Great Whites are getting some serious camera time.

This Great White Shark in particular, tried to make a meal out of a GoPro that was on an underwater piece of equipment.

I think he finally got the idea that it wasn’t food…

Enjoy!

P.S. – Does anyone know exactly what the device is that the Great White is biting on?

Ignorance is Bliss sometimes…

And YES, this is a real video.

And YES, surfers, paddleboarders, paddleboard surfers, boogie-boarders, and anyone else out swimming off pretty much any beach in the world comes incredibly close to sharks more often than they care to know…

Let’s face it, we are playing in their backyards, it is just part of enjoying the ocean, and it shouldn’t scare anyone (especially when you consider that bees kill 5 times more people than sharks do each year).

Fortunately, for the shark and the paddleboarder, no human or animal was hurt in this video.

And it is pretty evident from the video that the paddleboarder had no idea he was running over a shark.

This “Paddleboarder runs over shark” video was filmed by professional videographer/photographer Bo Bridges while using his drone to capture shark footage on beaches. Ironically, he was filming the shark, not the paddleboarder.

Don’t forget to share this with a friend! You Rock!

You might want to turn up your volume for this one as you can literally hear this diver SCREAM!

And if you are anything like me, you are probably going to watch this one a couple of times.

Note: If you listen closely, you can hear the diver that is pointing trying to give a warning yell right before “the whale shark sneak attack”.

I was laughing so hard my entire family came over to see what I was looking at.

Well, I won’t ruin it for you… let’s just say this is a pretty amazing Whale Shark Sneak Attack on a diver, and we are so glad that it was all caught on film.

Enjoy, and don’t forget to share with your friends.
