Step aside Real Housewives of Miami, as this is what Real Men of Miami look like…

Check out this awesome nighttime Tarpon fishing near downtown Miami filmed by our friend Patrick Rhea of LivitFilms. Patrick is the same guy that produced the hit music video “Fishing In Our Soul” (watch that music video here).

The two fly guys fishing are Alex and Kent.

Great job gents!

Did I shock you by switching out my standard “Pa-POW” with a “BOOM”?

Hope so, because this amazing redfish video deserves a big ol’ bang.

I can’t wait for you to see the drone footage and the underwater footage where you get to see the grass flats from the redfish’s perspective.

Pretty sick!

This AFTCO redfish video was done in part with Yeti Coolers and Shimano Fishing, and this is just one of their 4-part short video series filmed by Jason Arnold and edited by Bradford Graham.

The Florida captain in the video is AFTCO Pro Capt. Alonzo Sotillo.

Amazing job AFTCO and team!

This will make anyone want to go out and catch some redfish this week.

Enjoy.

Sorry gents, but after you watch this video, you are forever going to be wondering how you can replace your fishing partner with a great looking girl that can probably also cast better than your current partner…

Heck, I know that I will never be able to look at my brother Luke on the boat without wondering how I can trade him in (haha).

But in all seriousness, this video below is a top-notch fly fishing video produced by Catch 1 Films that features female fly angler Rebecca Courtney catching a couple of small inshore fish in a short fly session.

Regardless of the size of the fish, amazing video. Well done Catch 1 Films and Rebecca Courtney!

And is it just me, or does she kind of look like Katie Holmes? I would have actually watched Dawson’s Creek if it had been more like this video. Perhaps it would have been called “Dawson’s Skinny Water Lagoon”

Fish On.

I’ve said it a thousand times…the craziest college students in any college in America are usually members of the Spearfishing Club…

Actually I’ve never once said that…until today.

The Florida Atlantic University Spearfishing Club is crazy (in a good way of course)!

I came across this awesome video on YouTube where these college kids are spearfishing Cobia off the backs of Bull Sharks, and I just had to share it!

They don’t just get a single cobia or see just a single Bull Shark while free diving, they get tons of them!

Whatever area in South Florida they filmed all of this is simply loaded with nice Cobia and big Bull Sharks.

The fact that none of the Bull Sharks go crazy from the blood in the water surprised me, but I guess the sharks were glad that the spearfishermen weren’t aiming at them.

Well done Florida Atlantic University Spearfishing Club! Well done.

Spearing Cobia is hard enough as it is, but you guys brought it to an entire new game by spearfishing Cobia off the backs of Bull Sharks!

If you have been on our website before (SaltStrong.com), there is a good chance you have come across Darcizzle from Darcizzle Offshore.

She made her first appearance on Salt Strong way back in January with “6 Steps To Avoid Seasickness” (watch that video here).

Then we posted a video of Darcizzle Snook Fishing that really blew up (watch Darcizzle catching snook on the beach here)!

A few videos later we found ourselves interviewing Darcizzle (and putting her through our tough fishing/camping/outdoors quiz), where we all had an absolute blast (watch the interview video here).

Then a week ago, Darcizzle sent us her first show that was mostly underwater (she went spearfishing with the FAU spearfishing team – you can watch it here).

Needless to say, our audience loves Darcizzle, and I guess you can’t blame them…

Check out her most recent video below where Darcizzle and Kim fish the Downtown Showdown Tournament going for Kingfish aboard the boat, “Angler Management

P.S. – If you think your angler friends would like this, then I would love a like and share. You Rock!

If you have ever been tarpon fishing before, then you know how tough it can be to land a “Silver King”.

There are just so many variables working against you when it comes to actually landing a tarpon:

  • The tarpon jumping like crazy and throwing the hook
  • If there is structure around (like docks), it can easily break your line, or perhaps even jump over the dock like it did to Blair Wiggins (watch that tarpon video here)
  • Hammerhead sharks eating your tarpon before you get a chance to land it. By the way, if you never saw “Helpless Tarpon Saved from Hammerhead by Dead Jack Decoy”, you’ve got to watch that here next.
  • And numerous other issues including knots breaking, tarpon jumping in boat (like this), or just a bad hook set.

So when I saw this kayaker (Team Googan, and yes, he’s back) somehow manage to land this tarpon after going through weed lines, almost having his rod tip snapped, and more, I was impressed.

Make sure to stick around for the second tarpon that he hooks, because it almost rips him out of the kayak!

He was lucky it just causes a minor line burn on his hand.

Let’s face it, we’ve probably all had some sort of accident or “fishing fail’ while out fishing before. If you spend enough time on the water, you will eventually be involved in some fishing story that has your fishing buddies laughing…

Whether it be hooking yourself (or a friend), losing an anchor, getting your lure stuck in a mangrove, hooking the bottom of the seafloor, falling out of a boat, or perhaps even sinking a boat… the fishing fail possibilities are limitless.

The good news is that most of us are fortunate that there aren’t always cameras rolling when we made our goofs… but not this guy.

This blacktip shark fishing fail was recently captured on video when the LakeForkGuy did some blacktip shark fishing with none other than Josh Jorgensen of BlacktipH. And it just so happened that the Lake Fork Guy had his dad come along to enjoy some shark fishing… but little did his dad know that he would be the hit of the party.

Well I won’t ruin the fail for you, let’s just say the slow-mo footage is pretty spot on.

Make sure to listen to his dad’s “fishing story” of how the whole shark release fail went down. Pretty funny.

P.S. – Please Like and Share if you have ever had a fail while fishing. Or better yet, TAG a friend that has had a funny fishing fail. Fish On!

I guess today is Redfish Day…

Earlier today I posted a video of what could be the “Biggest School of Redfish Ever Captured on Film” that is getting liked and shared all over the social media sites (watch it here).

The only bad part about the huge school of Redfish video was that there were no Redfish actually being landed in a boat…

So I figured, what a perfect segue to show a video of people actually catching some Redfish…

In this case it is two female anglers catching some Monster Bull Reds with Capt. Jamie Glasner (of Fin and Fly Charters) near Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Well done Jessica Jae, Capt. Jamie, and friends.

You guys are looking Salt Strong in this video for sure!

P.S. – If you like catching Redfish, there is an online tournament starting in 7 days that only costs a couple of cups of coffee, and every 1 in 3 that enter are guaranteed to win fishing gear. You can fish anywhere redfish can be caught, and it lasts the entire month of July. Check out the details here.

P.P.S. – And if you liked this awesome Redfish video, please share it with your angler friends. Pa-POW!

Captain Jeff Maggio (aka Lunkerdog) is at it again… putting priceless smiles on kids faces out on the water.

When we interviewed Capt Jeff back in March (you can watch the interview here), he told us that he was the man for getting people on Tarpon 365 days per year down in the Ft. Lauderdale area. And based on what we have seen from him every week since March, that statement rings true.

If you haven’t seen Captain Jeff’s other videos that made it to our homepage, check them out here after you watch the latest video below:
