It’s Florida Mullet Run Time!

And just wait until you see this amazing footage from our friend BlacktipH (see his YouTube channel here).

Every fall the Florida Mullet Run produces some of the best saltwater fishing action in the state.

Countless amounts of mullet make their pilgrimage south to warmer waters where sea grass and algae grow during the winter, which also means more predatory fish following this run than you can count.

It’s a pretty phenomenal site to see!

Heck, our friend Capt. Jeff Maggio even named one his YouTube Channels “The Mullet Run” after it.

And we can’t blame him after watching this incredible mullet footage below.

Warning: If you fish yet don’t live in Florida, this video could have you hanging up your leaf rake for a fishing pole this fall.

Watch Tarpon, sharks, and other predators explode and get airborne on huge schools on the migrating mullet.

Finally, if you have any mullet run footage that can hands down beat this, then please send it to fish@saltstrong.com or just post the video in the comment section.

So far we haven’t found any mullet run footage that beats Blacktiph, but we would love to see it if it exists.

Enjoy.

Could you imagine catching an 18-POUND Mangrove Snapper?

I think for most of us, we would love to catch a 5-pound mangrove snapper.

Well spearfishing stud Cameron Kirkconnell not only has proof these huge snapper exist, but he has gone down to snapper honey holes like the one in this video (this is somewhere on the east coast of Florida) and plucked world records with his spear.

And if you don’t know 13-time World Record Spearfishing “Champion” Cameron Kirkconnell, you should get to know him.

The guy is one of the most talented spearfishing experts the world have ever seen, and he is just getting started on breaking records and changing the world of spearfishing.

Make sure to check out his super entertaining and hilarious interview we did with him here.

Goliath Grouper are one of the most talked about and inquired about species from our audience at Salt Strong.

These majestic fish have been on the protected list for a couple of decades, and they are finally getting back to where they need to be in terms of growth.

In fact, many anglers claim there are TOO MANY Goliath Grouper today.

They eat everything in site (including hooked fish that are being reeled up by anglers), and some wonder if we’ve kept these fish protected for too long.

So what do you think, are Goliath Grouper ready to be fished for (and kept) again?

That will certainly remain an ongoing debate among anglers, conservationists, divers, and such.

But either way, enjoy this amazing Goliath Grouper gathering footage.

Well done Lee Burghard and Wild Shutter Imaging.

Enjoy.

A while back I posted a redfish video that went a bit Viral, while at the same time causing some controversy.

Why?

Because the title was, “Biggest School of Redfish Ever Captured on Film? (you can watch it here).

And in that amazing redfish video, I asked viewers to show me a larger school of redfish that was captured on video.

Of course, I heard from countless anglers saying they had seen larger schools of redfish, but no one had any spectacular footage, and in the vast majority of cases, no footage at all.

Except for two people…

We already posted one of the videos last week that was submitted by a Salt Strong viewer called, “Wait til you see why this guy is screaming HOLY REDFISH!” (you can watch it here).

Below is the second submission that was pretty freaking amazing. It was all filmed off of Jacksonville, Florida.

And what I really love about this one is they took the drone up to get some aerial footage of the redfish.

Some absolute monster redfish in that school!

Amazing job Mike Pedigo and friends!

Enjoy.

Ever heard of a Redfish Machine Gun?

Until I saw this video, I had never heard of one either.

But apparently they are brutally strong, accurate, and fun to shoot.

And if you have a fishing buddy that is annoying you, it is a great way to knock them in the water. Haha.

The guys from Badfish looked like they had a great time filming this footage of some flood tide fly fishing around Jacksonville Beach, FL.

Great job gents.

Well, our friends over at Salty Roots did it again…

After their first Tarpon video “Tarpon Insanity” was such a hit (you can see it here), they came out with “Tarpon Insanity 2”.

Watch as the guys fight more tarpon in one video than most people will catch in their lives.

And the fact they did it all from either a paddle board or a kayak is even more impressive.

This certainly has me pumped up for Tarpon season.

Who’s ready to hit the water and chase some silver kings!

Enjoy.

Holy Extreme Cobia Spearfishing!!!

After thousands of people saw our friend Joey Antonelli take a bite to the family jewels by a triggerfish (you can see that viral video here), he has had numerous redemption videos to make up for it.

But this has to be his best video yet.

Just wait until you see what happens at these two marks:

3:10 mark

4:08 mark

Not only do these guy spear cobia off the backs of bull sharks, but they have some pretty close encounters with the sharks as well.

Now I don’t know about you, but when I am freediving, the two things that I want to see the least of are as follows:

  1. Bull Sharks
  2. Lots of blood in the water

Yet, this video is full of both.

Amazing job to all of the divers in this video (Matt Budd, Taylor Heflin, Scott Fricker, and Joey Antonelli)

You guys are officially nuts!

And stay tuned until the very end as they even shoot a flounder from the boat!

Enjoy.

If you like snook, you are going to love this video!

About a month ago, we posted a video that went crazy viral of a few guys taking a GoPro down to the bottom of the Sebastian Inlet (you can see that video here)

So when I saw that two other guys did an entire NEW drift dive of Sebastian Inlet, I knew it was going to be awesome.

And as you will see below, it didn’t disappoint.

I don’t think there is anything cooler than seeing exactly what is down under the water of places that you fish (except for catching the fish of course…)

Here are the notes from the owner of the video (311Pope):

“In the summer, Sebastian Inlet opens up with gin clean water and a small group of us take the annual incoming ride. It was filmed at the switch of the tide under the north catwalk. Seems like those fish came out at the switch because I did 4 or 5 drifts that day and didn’t see them until the tide slowed.”

Check out all of the Snook and Grouper sitting down there just waiting for your bait!

Enjoy!

Our friends over at Salty Roots really nailed it on this tarpon video.

And talk about some amazing tarpon footage all from either a kayak or a paddleboard. Impressive stuff!

At one point in the video, a tarpon almost jumps into the guy’s yak!

salty roots tarpon insanity

From the notes in the video, all of this silver king footage was taken along the Cocoa Beach to Sebastion area, and I can only assume it was during the mullet run from last year.

Great job gents!

The beast of a tarpon making his run (with some amazing aerial moves) at the end was the perfect capper.

Fish On!
