Have you ever been to Red Lobster before?

I remember going to Red Lobster as a kid and being so amazed that the adults could point to their favorite lobster in the big lobster tank up front, and then have it on their plate steaming hot in butter just 30 minutes later…

Well, this video below is kind of like Red Lobster with Goliath Grouper… except of course they aren’t keeping (or eating) the Goliath Grouper.

But they do dive down to this amazing shipwreck, check out the Goliaths and get some awesome underwater footage of them, pick out a couple of the big boys that they want to catch, and then proceed to hook up with two nice Goliath Grouper on handlines.

Great job Show Me The Snapper! (The same guy that recently made our home page with “Ever Wonder What A Shark Sees Right Before It Attacks A Hooked Grouper? – you can watch it here)

Our friend Capt. Andrew and Mallory Herzog from Big Bully Outdoors first made an appearance on our site way back in February with their amazing video titled, “13’7 Hammerhead Shark Caught From The Beach!” (you can watch it here).

And now they are back as the Salt Strong daily featured video once again!

This time with a wild Goliath Grouper video from Boca Grande, Florida.

I won’t ruin the reason that Alan from the FWC (Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission) acted fast by putting his arm down this big Goliath Grouper’s mouth…

Let’s just say that everything about his brave move was “PURE STEEL“…

Great job Big Bully Outdoors, great job Tom on the nice Goliath, and amazing save by Alan.

When Captain Ben Chancey says it is the biggest Goliath Grouper he has ever seen, then you know it is a BEAST!

If you don’t know Capt. Chancey from “Chew On This TV”, he has tens of millions of views on YouTube with his Goliath Grouper catches, and he has certainly been a part of more Goliath Grouper records than anyone else.

In this video below, Captain Chancey has a young kid named Max from Georgia that is fighting a bonita near the boat, and this beast of a Goliath comes up and snatches it.

Capt Chancey’s notes say it could have easily been a world record if landed, but of course, not on that rod and reel. Capt. Chancey estimated this Goliath Grouper at 700lbs!

Enjoy!

When Luke and I started Salt Strong in January of this year, one of the most exciting Goliath Grouper video ever filmed was a girl named Deidra Bridger (Tenacity Fishing) landing a Goliath using a hand line (you can watch that video here).

Besides a few other grouper hand line videos, and a few videos of Goliaths coming up and stealing angler’s fish, there wasn’t that much out there…

But all of that changed this year… in a BIG way.

And Capt. Ben Chancey of Chew on This has been behind almost every one of the monumental Goliath Grouper catches this year.

Everything from the record Goliath out a kayak, the first ever girl to land a Goliath out of a kayak (Ben’s daughter), and even a Goliath Grouper landed from a stand up paddleboard (you can see that video here)!

And now this…

Not one, but two Goliath Grouper landed from inner tubes in the same day. According to Capt. Ben Chancey, the world record set was this is the largest Goliath Grouper ever caught from an inner tube.

Here is the quick story from Capt Ben.

Captain Jon Black of the Crazy Lure Tackle Shop in Cape Coral spent 34 minutes landing this monstrous 7 feet 11 inch long by 5 feet 9 inches around Goliath Grouper that is estimated to weigh between 675 and 725 pounds.

Note: There is a second video below where you can watch Capt. Ben Chancey land his Goliath from an inner tube as well.

Watch Capt. Ben Chancey land his Goliath Grouper from an Inner Tube!

WARNING: You will want to watch this video more than once to see where the heck this Goliath Grouper came from!

If you have ever been freediving/spearfishing before, then you know just how painful this is to watch.

Because when you are freediving there is so much effort, time, and precious breath that goes into every kill shot… and there is nothing worse than having your hard work taken away from you…

And when Ben Carlson speared this nice Snapper while freediving, the last thing he saw coming was a hungry Goliath Grouper just waiting to capitalize on Ben’s hard work.

Ben was incredibly lucky to get his spear back, although if you look closely you can tell that the spear was bent a little bit.

And oh, by the way, if you thought that a freediver’s worst nightmare was a shark, you would be surprised to know that most freedivers would rather see a shark than lose a nice fish. Not to mention, Goliath Groupers can be more aggressive than almost all sharks when attacking your fish on a spear (there are of course a few exceptions like nasty bull sharks).

A great video from our friend BlacktipH shows some video proof that Goliath Grouper are more aggressive than sharks. You can watch it here.

Yep, this is the same gal that made it on our home page a couple weeks ago with her uncanny ability to throw a 10ft cast net like a champ!

This female angler’s name is Jessica Jae, and in this video she is attempting to land a Goliath Grouper using a handline somewhere in Florida.

This is Why You Should Always Watch Out For Goliath Grouper After Spearing A Fish!

I won’t ruin it for you, but let’s just say most of us would have soiled our wetsuit…

I watched this over a few times and it is crazy how close the Goliath comes to the diver’s hand!

Not sure if he saw it coming or not, but either way, if you have ever been in the water next to these monster fish, you know they can be intimidating.

My brother Luke and I had a run in with a big Goliath just a few weeks in Islamorada, and I can assure you that you never want one of those beastly fish getting aggressive next to you.

It’s a FACT.

Big Grouper can be incredibly aggressive fish.

Just ask Josh Jorgensen of BlacktipH after he filmed the video, “Proof that Goliath Groupers Attack More Aggressively Than Sharks!” (watch it here)

But never have I seen a grouper try to take down a live fish that is almost as long as the grouper itself!

Check out what an underwater ROV (Remotely Operated) camera picked up at the bottom of an oil rig in Texas in the video below.

I won’t ruin it for you, but let’s just say that the Grouper might have bit off a bit more than he could chew with this big Amberjack! It looks like he is trying to “Choke” it down…

A big thanks to Keith Ludwig for pointing out that this is a Warsaw Grouper.

Captain Ben Chancey of Chew on This has done it again!

After being the very first to document a Goliath Grouper catch from a kayak (watch that here), Capt. Ben took it to a whole new level by going after a monster Goliath on a paddleboard!

Amazing job getting back on the board (after being flipped off), and amazing feat no doubt.

Keep the big fish coming Capt. Chancey!
