It’s rare that we ever post our own videos on this main Salt Strong page (in fact, I believe this is the first video we have ever posted on this main video board), but we had such a great day back in the Florida grass flats yesterday that we couldn’t help but show you.

This was a “Skinny Water Inshore Slam” (Snook, Redfish, and Trout) all on artificial lures…and all of this footage and fishing action was caught over a 3 hour period yesterday.

Pretty good considering when we finally hit the water for the day (at 3:30pm) we had on rain gear as it looked like it was going to storm again.

But the sun peaked its head, and we tour it up in less than 2 feet of water catching a big 31-inch redfish, tons of smaller reds, a handful of snook, and even a couple of trout.

And Andrew, the Salt Strong promoter and marketing manager, caught the biggest fish of his life.

We love seeing people catch big redfish out of kayaks…

So when we came across this awesome video of Kayak Angler Brandon Barton tearing up the redfish from a Hobie Cat Kayak, we couldn’t resist showing you.

And we also began to wonder, did Hobie finally create a kayak that attracts redfish???

Certainly appears that way from the video footage…

After getting skunked in the freshwater streams of the smoky mountains during the holidays, I really needed a confidence boost… so I had to get back into my hometown saltwater.

A few days after returning home there was light west winds and sunny skies. With an hour to spare, I re-rigged the fly rod and decided to wade out on one of my favorite flats in the banana river. The water has cleared up considerably in the last month and it was so nice to stalk along the open water flats without trees and cliffs in my way! After landing a solid trout within the first few minutes I knew I was back home (and still remembered how to fish)!

The next day I broke up a redfish threesome and sight fished the stud out of the group. It is so nice to be back in the salt and living on the east coast of central Florida!
