This has to be the WILDEST Tarpon video we have ever seen!

And YES, this is a Florida Crocodile.

At first we thought it was an alligator, but as you can see from the up close pics of the thin snout, the way the teeth are set, and even the color, that this is a rare Florida crocodile that can only be found down in South Florida (once you get a bit closer to the Everglades).

Although angler Nelson won’t reveal his secret fishing honey hole where he regularly has to deal with this crocodile going after his snook and tarpon, we do know that it is an area of South Florida where these rare Florida crocs have been seen.

Crazy footage, and thanks for sharing Nelson! It’s not every day you get to see a crocodile and a tarpon in the same video.

Can you imagine being out 70 miles from the shore of Sarasota, Florida and coming across a MONSTER school of tarpon under your boat? How cool is that!

Thankfully Dominic Burch and his buddies jumped in with their GoPros to let us all feel what it would be like to swim with tarpon.

Pretty amazing tarpon footage, and what an experience.

Note: This was approximately 70 miles out in 200 feet of water (off coast of Sarasota, FL).

Our friend Darcizzle (from Darcizzle Offshore) had a heartbreaker after fighting a nice tarpon in Big Pine Key, FL with Captain Kevin of Relentless Charters.

Shortly after hooking into the nice tarpon, it began pulling Darcizzle near a sailboat, made a few jumps, took her through a bridge, and ultimately tried to wrap itself around a huge concrete pylon.

Hated to see the fish pop the hook at the final hour, but an amazing fight through it all. And that is why it is called fishing and not catching…

Yesterday we posted a video about a 6-year old catching a 100-pound tarpon that got liked and shared like crazy all over Facebook (you can see it here).

Fortunately for us, Chip and Captain Jeff Maggio (the two masterminds behind the awesome brand Lunkerdog) follow many of our posts and let us in on one of the coolest birthday surprises a 10-year old could ever get down in Florida…

Not only does this 10-year old kid get to spend a day fishing with Captain Jeff, but he also gets to land a thick 150lb tarpon after a two hour fight (that lasted well past the sun going down).

What an experience for that kid that will never be forgotten. Quite different than a birthday event at Chuck E. Cheese…

Thanks for sharing Chip!

Not many 6-year olds have caught fish that weigh more than 10 pounds.

Heck, most of us were teenagers or older before we caught our first 10 pound + fish.

And certainly most 6-year olds have never caught a fish that weighs more than them!

But this young man had other plans… But with the help of Josh from BlacktipH, this awesome 6-year old lands a real nice tarpon (and I won’t dare argue with his weight estimate).

Amazing job little man, and we can’t wait to see your next catch.

6-year Old Tarpon Catcher = Salt Strong

These young guys look they are having the time of their lives.

And who can blame them when they are catching so many monster fish out of canoes.

From what we can tell, these young guys come down to Florida from Wisconsin on spring break every year to do some hard-core fishing out of canoes.

And the two quotes in the beginning pretty much sum up this amazing “Extreme Canoe Fishing” video…

“We’re going to need a bigger boat”

and

“When my parents see this…”

Just wait until you see the all of the large sharks, tarpon (with some awesome slow-mo tarpon shots), barracuda, and jacks that they catch out of their canoes.

Great job of filming, catching, and keeping us entertained guys!

Spring Break Canoe Anglers = Salt Strong

If you have ever fished for tarpon, you know that they are one of the toughest fighting fish out there.

They jump, they dive, and they do everything possible to throw the hook.

And if you thought trying to land a tarpon from a boat can be tough, wait until you try to catch a tarpon from a bridge!

It is no wonder that we named this video “Fail Compilation” as it is virtually impossible to “land” a nice tarpon from up high on a bridge (and it was clearly not the angler’s intention of landing the tarpon in this video).

However, it sure looks like one heck of a fun time hooking and jumping the silver king from above.

And based on the note from the Infinity Fishing Team angler that was catching the tarpon in this video, he purposely flattens down the barbs to make sure the tarpon always throws the hook after a couple of jumps.

Hope you enjoy!

If you love catching (or even watching) the magnificent “Silver King Tarpon”, then you are absolutely going to love this video that tracks the tarpon migration.

And yes, around the 3:30 mark the dog actually does jump in the water to “fetch” the tarpon.

Pretty awesome tarpon hunting dog if you ask me.

And pretty awesome Tarpon video!

We apologize in advance for the couple of curse words, but this tarpon video by Waterline Media was too good to pass up.

Amazing work on the film, and amazing tarpon footage gents.

Tarpon Hunting Dog = Salt Strong

If you are an inshore angler in Florida, the ultimate catch is a Florida Inshore SUPER Grand Slam, which consists of catching a Permit, Tarpon, Bonefish, Snook, and Redfish.

And there is no place like Florida to do this.

So when we came across this awesome video (with one disturbing clip) from World Angling, we couldn’t help but share.

And yes, there are even some great inshore fishing bloopers in this reel as well.

Warning: If you get nauseous seeing someone crack their head on a boat, you might want to close your eyes about halfway through this video during the blooper reel…OUCH!

But the rest of this video is pretty amazing stuff!

Great job on this Florida Inshore Super Grand Slam!
