This Salt Strong high school girl, Lexis Chancey, is no stranger to monster fish…

In fact, this is the second time that she has made the home page here at Salt Strong. The first time was when she landed a beast of a 30-lb Snook (watch that video here).

Of course this time she is having to battle a fish that weighs more than she does, all from a kayak. Notice how she comes pretty close to flipping over at one point. Wow!

And if the last name sounds familiar, it is because she is the daughter of Monster Fish Legend Capt. Ben Chancey of Chew on This. If you never saw Capt Ben’s first huge Goliath Grouper from a kayak just a month ago, then check out that video here.

Related: The fishing hole in this video appears to be the exact same spot that a “Goliath Grouper Snaps Kayaker’s Rod and He Still Lands It” video took place. Watch it here if you never saw it.

For those of you that follow us frequently (we thank you big time by the way), you know that we recently posted “The Top 9 Goliath Grouper Videos on the Internet” (you can see all 9 Goliath Grouper videos here).

But what I didn’t know was that I would be handed this unbelievable video of Manny Puig going “Goliath Grouper Noodling” just a week later, as it certainly would have made that  best of the Goliath Grouper video list from last week.

In fact, this might be the one of the most exciting Goliath Grouper videos yet. I will let you be the judge of that though.

If you don’t know who Manny Puig is, he is the wild guy with the long hair that isn’t afraid of any animal, fish, shark, or mammal. He has made appearances on the show (and movie) Jackass, along with many other extreme animal videos as well.

And in this video, Manny free dives down next to a Goliath Grouper, puts his hand all the way in the monster fish’s mouth, and… well I will let you watch and see what happens.

Make sure to pay extra close attention at the end of the video to see what comes out of the Goliath Grouper’s mouth. Unless Manny is a magician and had a crab up his sleeve, that crab just made one of the coolest Goliath Grouper cameos ever.

There aren’t many ocean-dwelling creatures as majestic as the Whale Shark. These beautiful whale sharks are known as the largest fish in the sea (growing upwards of 40+ feet long), the move slowly and feed mostly on plankton, macroalgae, and small larvae, and they have a lifespan of approximately 70 years.

However, that isn’t the case when a whale shark gets wrapped in a fishing net…

Fortunately for this whale shark, the divers at Seadoors found this whale shark in the Philippines that was “wrapped” in an old net, came to its rescue with a knife, and freed the whale shark back to normal.

Make sure to keep watching as this whale shark (named “Spooky”) continues to play around and entertain the divers. Probably its way of saying thank you.

Amazing job Jonathan and the Seadoors team.

As we learned in the VIRAL fishing video called “Helpless Tarpon Rescued by Dead Jack Decoy in the Florida Keys” (watch it here), you never know what you are going to catch or encounter while fishing in the FL Keys!

In this video below, Jersey Justin heads out fishing in Islamorada (Florida Keys) with Capt. Ron Brack, and the last thing they thought they would catch that day is an endangered Sawfish!

And if you are wondering why you don’t see many sawfish videos, it’s because these sawfish are incredibly rare, they are endangered, and it is illegal to fish for them. Of course, if you accidentally hook a sawfish like these guys did, all you can do it try to get it safely released as quickly as possible.

It was great to see that Capt. Ron put in the extra effort to unwrap the line from its bill and release this endangered sawfish safely… certainly a Salt Strong move!

I like BIG FISH and I cannot lie…

No other angler can deny…

That when a fish swims up to bite your itty bitty bait and you see a huge outline near your face…

You get…

BENT!

In all seriousness, this video below is pretty freaking amazing. In fact, I don’t think I have seen so many of nature’s largest fish in one short video.

Everything from Whale Sharks, Goliath Grouper, Huge Eels, Marlin, Barracuda, Mahi, Tuna, Manta Rays, Sharks, Bumphead Parrotfish (the fish with the bump on its head), and many more.

And if you really want to impress your friends: When you share this video post, ask them if they know what a Mola Mola is (the Mola Mola – aka “Sunfish” is the huge fish that made the cover picture).

Also, stay tuned at the 1:25 mark. I was waiting in anticipation for the eel to grab the fish right in front of his face. Talk about a brave little guy!

Hope you enjoy this big fish video as much as I did.

Well our good friend Alex Fogg is at it again… this time wrestling with a Goliath Grouper instead of plucking off Lionfish.

If you aren’t familiar with Alex, he is the diver that has had more Lionfish videos go Viral than anyone else on the planet. And if you haven’t seen his incredible videos, here are some quick links for each one (but make sure to watch the epic Goliath Grouper battle below first).

  • Another Great White on Film. This Time in the Gulfclick here to watch
  • The Ultimate Lionfish Massacreclick here to watch

So back to the video below…

Here is plot: Alex Fogg is down on an Exxon template wreck in the Gulf of Mexico doing some spearfishing. After he plucks a nice hogfish for dinner, a Goliath Grouper decides he wants it for dinner. Most divers would probably just let the Goliath Grouper have its way, and go on to find another hogfish…

But not Alex Fogg the Lionfish Killer!

He fights this Goliath Grouper through the wreck… well I won’t ruin it for you. Check it out below.

And stick around til the end, as the video doesn’t end at the Goliath Grouper scene… Alex keeps going.

The “Sunshine” Skyway Bridge in the Tampa / St. Petersburg area is one of the most well known and recognizable bridges in Florida. It’s main span is over a mile long, it reaches 430 feet in height, and it made in on the Travel Channel’s “Top 10 Bridges in the World“.

But did you know that it is also a great place to catch massive Goliath Groupers! Usually most anglers going for big game fish near the Skyway Bridge (such as Tarpon, Shark, and Goliath Grouper) do it in boats, as it is not legal to pull up a fish like a Goliath up to the bridge / pier level (or out of the water at all… nor it is very doable even if you could).

Well this week angler Rich MacNeil of “Show Me The Snapper” went out to prove that he could catch a Goliath Grouper by hand from the Skyway Bridge Pier with the following things:

  • Dead mackerel
  • 100 feet of anchor line
  • Shark rig
  • Gloves
  • Hope

Pretty quickly after dropping in the mackerel, he was hooked up with a Goliath Grouper right under the bridge, and after a short fight…

Well, I will let you watch the video to see if he makes it or not…

Note: Do Not Try This At Home

It was just a couple of days ago that we reported breaking news on Captain Ben Chancey landing a massive Goliath Grouper from his kayak (you can see that video here).

Well apparently this guy in the video below (Jon Black) saw Ben’s footage as he decided to “one-up” Captain Ben by not only catching a Goliath Grouper from his kayak, but doing it with a rod that was snapped by the estimated 552 pound Goliath Grouper!

You can see at the :34 mark where the rod snaps up top (and Jon screams “He Broke The Rod”).

Miraculously, Jon manages to land the Goliath Grouper in shallower water where he could take some quick measurements before releasing the fish.

This Goliath Grouper was 83 inches long (over 6.5 feet), and 73 inches in girth (6 feet)!!!

That puts it at an estimated 552 pounds!

Here is the last picture of Jon with the landed Goliath Grouper

Well folks, Captain Ben Chancey has managed to do it again…

He keeps taking Big Game fishing to a new level… this time catching (and landing) a Goliath Grouper from a Kayak!

If you aren’t familiar with Captain Ben Chancey of “Chew on This TV“, here are just a few of his amazing videos that have made it on our home page of Viral Fishing Videos:

In the meantime, enjoy watching Captain Ben in this amazing Goliath Grouper from a Kayak video below.

And make sure to watch the entire thing. I was about to stop watching after the overview clip, but the full video shows the Grouper pulling him right into the bridge piling and more.

Well done Captain Ben!
