As I mentioned in my earlier shark post, “I think the sharks must know it’s Shark Week”!

This video below literally just occurred yesterday (so you are one of the first to see it), and I have to imagine that this is the first great white shark photobomb ever… and definitely the first aerial photobomb!

Here is the scoop in this video:

  • Remo Sabatini is down in South Africa (Mossel Bay) doing a great white shark excursion
  • While Remo is down in the shark cage getting some wild up-close shots of a large Great White Shark chomping down on a dead tuna bait, the unthinkable happens…
  • The Great White gets upstaged by his buddy who photobombed him in the air!

Sorry gents, but after you watch this video, you are forever going to be wondering how you can replace your fishing partner with a great looking girl that can probably also cast better than your current partner…

Heck, I know that I will never be able to look at my brother Luke on the boat without wondering how I can trade him in (haha).

But in all seriousness, this video below is a top-notch fly fishing video produced by Catch 1 Films that features female fly angler Rebecca Courtney catching a couple of small inshore fish in a short fly session.

Regardless of the size of the fish, amazing video. Well done Catch 1 Films and Rebecca Courtney!

And is it just me, or does she kind of look like Katie Holmes? I would have actually watched Dawson’s Creek if it had been more like this video. Perhaps it would have been called “Dawson’s Skinny Water Lagoon”…

In case you missed the memo, it’s Shark Week.

So we would be remiss if we didn’t feature at least one good shark video this week. Bad news is that I just didn’t see any awesome shark videos that were worthy of being featured on the home page that weren’t already there…

But then I finally came across this one (this video below was just published in the last few days and it is spreading like wildfire).

Here are the notes from the actual video author:

While shark cage diving, our cage was attacked by an 11.5 foot Great White shark. The round buoy attached to the side of the cage was bent in half. Some of the lining of the outside blue barrier bar was bitten through as well. It was quite the up close and personal experience!

This was a trip I went on during one of my days off from volunteering at Cango Wildlife Ranch. The video was shot with a GoPro Hero 4 wide angle. The shark was even closer than he appears. I apologize for the shakiness….. and my friend’s screaming.

I am pretty sure that I just yelled at the computer when this guy falls backwards!

And it’s a good thing this guy has mud all over his pants and legs, as I am certain he soiled himself after this scary experience.

Wowzers.

This wild croc footage was filmed in Costa Rica, a country that has some of the best fishing in the world.

And did you know they also have some of the biggest saltwater crocodiles?

Yep. And as these tourists found out while watching a “crocodile guide” get inches away from losing a leg, you just can’t script encounters with wild crocodiles (no matter how many humans they have come in contact with).

We have seen some pretty amazing viral fishing videos this year since my brother and I started Salt Strong.

What’s funny is that it is shockingly hard to predict which fishing videos will actually go Viral.

Some of the videos that I am certain will go viral don’t take off like I thought they would, while others that I would never would have bet money on, end up taking off. However, every now and I then I predict one perfectly (but it is rare).

At the end of the day, you just never know what the majority of people are going to find so amazing they just have to share.

All we can do is keep showing off the very best viral fishing videos and letting you decide.

Finally, since we officially took our site SaltStrong.com on January 1st of this year, it made complete sense to do a Top 10 Most Viral Fishing Videos for the first 6 months of the year.

Because let’s face it, unless you have been coming to our site every day since January, you might have missed a few of these. And there are some pretty sick fishing videos in this list below.

Just a week ago we posted an EXTREME fishing video that got shared like crazy called “The Most Extreme Cobia and Mackerel Fishing Ever” (you can watch it here).

It was none other than our friends over at MorningTide Fishing. The craziest, most daring, most passionate group of on-land anglers in the world.

And this week they are at it again.

I won’t ruin this video for you, but let’s just say this angler is lucky that he made it out in one piece. Getting knocked up against those sharp ledges can be lethal.

You can even hear his buddy say, “How do we get back out of here” when they are down in the bottom of the cliff. NUTS!

Stick around til the very end as they show some quick outtakes of his buddy accidentally hitting him on the back with his own lure (with treble hooks).

Let’s face it, holiday weekends (like the 4th of July) are when the national waterways become a circus.

It’s like anyone and everyone that owns anything that floats is bringing their boat/kayak/paddleboard/canoe/dinghy out to congest the waterways and wreak havoc.

Of course, the holidays are also when mass quantities of alcohol are being consumed, and it usually doesn’t take much for some bad ideas to start happening while intoxicated on a boat (trust me, I know from past experience(s)…)

So before you go out enjoy the holiday weekend in a boat, check out these amazing boating fails so you know what to watch out for. And as you will see in this boating fail video compilation, the majority of these fails involve alcohol combined with a few bad ideas.

Don’t be that guy or gal. Don’t be a Googan!

And definitely laugh at your grandmother or say “In The Face” when she gets hit in the face with a fish! Haha.

Even though the Wildlife Dept in the state of Florida claims Goliath Grouper aren’t ready to be harvested again due to their small population, these massive fish have certainly made a healthy comeback as we have had an influx of Goliath Grouper videos like you wouldn’t believe.

And if you have somehow been hiding under a rock and don’t know much about these Goliath Grouper, these fish can get incredibly massive, and they are incredibly challenging to actually land next to your boat (as they break rods, lines, take you down in structure, etc).

In fact, these Goliath Grouper are kind of like how hunting down a massive bear could be on the ultimate bucket list hunt for an avid hunter, landing a Goliath Grouper is one of those “bucket list” fish for many avid saltwater anglers.

But don’t think for a second that catching a Goliath Grouper is just for men.

The women anglers out there are showing they can land these big fish just as well as any man!

Here is the scoop:

  • Some anglers in Brazil come across a baby dolphin that was tangled in a plastic bag
  • They used their fishing net to bring the little dolphin into their boat
  • They removed the plastic bag
  • They threw the dolphin back in the water
  • And then the dolphin does one of the coolest things a baby dolphin has ever done on video below!
