Here at Salt Strong, we don’t just report on saltwater fishing (although it is the majority of what we publish).

Overall, we enjoy anything or anyone doing “STRONG” things in and around saltwater…

So when we saw this awesome Surfboard transfer in a pipeline, we couldn’t resist sharing.

This is pro surfer Jamie O’Brien showing us that even pink surfboards can become incredibly ‘Strong’ when you do a pink surfboard transfer inside of a pipeline.

Well done Jamie!

Pretty epic surfing trick.

Yes, the “Oman” in the title is not a typo…

It was not supposed to be “Oh Man!”

It is really the country of Oman.

Giant Trevally Fishing on Steroids

Apparently not only does Oman offer some of the most intense GT (Giant Trevally) fishing in the world, it is also a pretty intense place to visit these days…

If you didn’t know, Oman borders Saudi Arabia and shares some water with Iran (see map below)

So if you want a wild and adrenaline pumping trip in all respects, Oman is your place!

And based on the pictures in this amazing video, the fishing outfit No Boundaries Oman can put their customers on a TON of amazing fish.

I don’t know about you, but Oman is now on my bucket list of places to visit for fishing.

Unfortunately due to customs, it will probably be pretty tough to bring back fresh fish or cheap oil as your Saudi Arabia souvenir…

Finally, if you are into some awesome GT fishing, check out No Boundaries Oman here.

They are the go-to source for GT fishing in Oman no doubt!

We love learning about the history of fishing here at Salt Strong.

So when we came across this video of the very first marlin ever caught on a fly, we had to share it.

In this old school video footage, Doc Webster (a legendary fly fisherman) and his wife head out off of Baja to attempt to be the very first to catch a marlin on an artificial fly.

After numerous failed attempts of the marlin outflanking Doc (and even a failed boat engine during one of the fights), Doc finally lands his first marlin on a fly.

During this trip, Doc created what is known as the bait and switch method for flyfishing for billfish (you will see this used with Doc and his wife in the video).

Great stuff!

Here at Salt Strong, we love catching big sea trout!

And we also love watching the legendary Captain Blair Wiggins catch fish.

So when we came across this video of Blair catching big trout on topwater plugs, we couldn’t resist sharing with you, our audience.

In this video Captain Blair is fishing with Captain Tyler Vollmer in the famous Mosquito Lagoon near Titusville, FL.

He is throwing the Mogan Series TroKar Mirrorlure, a Top Dog topwater plug that the speckled sea trout can’t seem to resist.

Make sure to follow Captain Blair Wiggins at Addictive Fishing. He is the “Reel Deal”

You have probably heard how fast Mako Sharks are, right?

But I bet you haven’t seen one coming out of the blue ocean at you like this!

Check out the slo-mo jaws at the 1:38 mark!

What’s funny is this Mako just won’t give up until all of the baits are gone.

He makes pass after pass to “steal” and pluck off every live bait on the dredge.

Of course the anglers on board have no idea this is going on under them, and I bet when they pulled up the dredge to see that all of the baits were gone, they were giddy about checking out what the GoPro captured.

Well here it is in this video.

Don’t be alarmed that the first 30 seconds are in black and white…this video gets really good (and it goes into “color” mode)…

Especially if you enjoy seeing a TON of sailfish in their habitat.

In fact, this is some really bada$$ sailfish footage!

Nothing like seeing the speed and beauty of these sailfish up close.

Well done GoPro dredge!

Crazy how many sailfish are in the Isla Mujeres, Mexico.

If you can watch this video and not want to be out in the salt water, then you might want to replace your batteries…

Either that, or slam down some Mountain Dew, because this Jet Surfing is EXTREME!

Although these jet surfing motorized boards have been around for a while, you don’t see that many of them out on the water as we would like to (at least not in Florida…).

I imagine one reason is that they certainly can’t be cheap (compared to a normal surfboard), and I am not sure how many they have brought into production so far either.

But then again, the experience and ride on one of these surf-rockets is completely different than a normal surfboard, and the look on your friend’s faces when you show up to surf with one of these would be priceless.

If you want to buy one of these bad boy Jet Surfers, check out their main page where they currently have 3 different jet boards for sale here.

It isn’t easy being a commercial fisherman.

The days are long, the hours stink, and most of the world seems to be trying to find ways to make your job tougher…

So that last thing that you want to see is a Whale Shark stealing fish from your net.

Not to mention, clearly creating a few holes in the fish net as well…

But either way, this was a pretty entertaining example of nature at its finest…a whale shark adapting to its surroundings and getting creative with how its gets its bait.

And it certainly looks easier than having to corral a ton of baitfish on its own.

For that, we proudly say…“Whale Shark = Salt Strong”

What has two thumbs and likes to watch dolphins swimming up close?

Apparently everyone!

Dolphin watching is one of those odd things that no one can seem to explain.

Even if you have spent your entire life on the water, and have seen so many dolphin that it would be impossible to even count, a dolphin sighting still seems to pull you in and grab your attention.

I have been out on the boat with guys that have spent 40+ years living in, around, and even on (a ship) salt water, and they will quickly be the first to point out when a dolphin is playing off to the side of the boat.

And even I got sucked in to the dolphin trap…

I was browsing through some videos and all of a sudden this one with the dolphins caught my eye.

The video turned out to be a couple of free-diving record holders (Eusebio and Christina Saenz de Santamaria) having a good time swimming with around 60 Hawaiian Spinner Dolphins of the coast of the Big Island in Hawaii.

And I fell in the dolphin trap…and now it is yours to enjoy~

Make sure to watch the 2:15 mark where the dolphins start copying whatever the diver does. Pretty awesome!
