And yes, for you English majors, I do realize that the proper nomenclature is “Convocation of Eagles” as eagles rarely fly in packs (it just didn’t have the same ring to it for my headline).

But anywho, the biggest question is this…

Have you ever seen so much FREEDOM in one place!

This is a pretty awesome sight.

And apparently, this kind of bald eagle encounter isn’t uncommon up in Dutch Harbor, Alaska where this fisherman had an amazing day feeding some fish scraps to bald eagles.

Well done on the background music, gents.

Free bird!

Enjoy.

If you have ever been spearfishing before, then you know that it is a lot of work to get in position for a perfect shot.

More often than not, the fish don’t exactly line up they way you want them to when they see a diver holding a spear gun…

And when it comes to spearing a pelagic fish, it can be even tougher.

So when a tuna comes right up to you (like it does in this video), you better be ready to take the shot.

Check out the quick reflexes and perfect kill shot this guy gets.

Awesome work!

Enjoy.

Wowzers!

Most anglers in Florida can fish their entire lives and never catch a sawfish.

If you aren’t familiar with sawfish, they are the prehistoric looking fish that are also known as “carpenter sharks”, but ironically they are part of the ray family.

They almost became extinct many years ago (due to loss of habitat and overfishing), and have been on the protected and endangered list for quite some time.

However, our good friend Capt. Ross Gallagher (aka “The Intrepid Angler”) went out with Capt. John Conway in what could be the best sawfish honey hole known to man.

Check out how many sawfish they catch in a single day!

Enjoy and remember to always safely release a sawfish and contact the FWC if you can’t them in Florida.

Back when I was growing up, my dad was really into boats (and he still is to this day).

And every time one of his boats would break down or have issues, he would always tell us boys that we are better off never owning a boat… instead, just find best friends that all own boats…

Well, I couldn’t agree with him more after seeing this adventure yacht known simply as, Ulysses.

Now I just have to find out who owns it and becomes friends with them. Haha.

Check out some of the pics from the inside and then watch the epic video that TC Media put together showing a “typical day” on the yacht.

What do you think?

Would you like to spend a day (or a year) on this amazing yacht?

And by the way, the Ulysses is for sale (click here to see more pics from our friends over at Ocean of News)

Take that lionfish!!!

I thought I had seen some creative ways to kill the invasive lionfish, but this video trumped it all.

Our friend Courtland Hunt (his son is the 4-year old fishing teacher that went viral in this video) teamed up with Airborne Arms to see if they could turn a Glock 9mm handgun into a lionfish killing machine in 100 feet of water.

Did it work?

Let’s just say our friend Alex Fogg (the Lionfish Killer) would be proud…

Here is a pic of Courtland about to take down a lionfish with his 9mm.

An unsuspecting lionfish about to get the shot of his life…

Not sure the cost of the ammo (they used lead-free, non-toxic ammo if any of you were worried about them pumping lead all over the ocean floor) is cost effective for most people compared to a speargun or sling, but pretty darn awesome footage!

Who would have thought a 9mm could shoot that well 100 feet underwater.

Pretty amazing.

Check out the video below!

To hear more about why Courtland wanted to try a handgun to shoot lionfish, check out his brief interview with our friends over at Outdoors360 here.

This is his answer as to why:

“People ask me “why?” and I say honestly, “I’m fascinated by guns, but tired of seeing videos on ‘how many watermelons, CD’s, or marshmallows can a bullet travel through. Those things have no applications for me, however, I can now tell you that if a shark (or watermelon) were to attack me at almost any depth that a Glock 9mm would surely protect me.”

Enjoy and do NOT try this at home folks.

You’ve probably seen people loading kayaks and paddleboards on top of a car or truck, but have you ever seen a pontoon boat up on top?

Not long ago, someone in our private Facebook group (the Salt Strong Fishing Tribe) posted a picture of a truck with a boat on top, and for the life of me I couldn’t figure out why someone would do this.

But after finding this video below on YouTube and seeing some of the owner’s comments, it comes down to two reasons to go to this much trouble to put a pontoon boat on top of your truck:

  • For campers/RV owners, it is a great way to tow your truck and boat (according to the owner)
  • The owner of this truck is a boat dealer, and by having a boat on top of his truck, he can still tow a second boat (kind of like a car carrier truck but on a smaller scale)

And according to the owner, he has been pulled over on numerous occasions and this is 100% legal.

What do you think?

Smart idea or bad accident waiting to happen?

Let us know in the comments.

It’s official!

The Florida Mullet Run has officially begun…

And while all of us are waiting on the first awesome mullet run video showing explosive attacks on the schools of mullet by tarpon, sharks, and snook, a YouTube page called “Underwater Florida” got creative and took the cameras underwater.

Check out the amazing footage they captured of tarpon circling these massive schools of mullet below!

This was all filmed this past week in Palm Beach, Florida.

Who else is getting pumped up for the 2016 Mullet Run!

You certainly will be after watching this.

Yep, a Goliath Grouper will eat just about anything…

From bonito to snook to redfish to GoPros…

Especially if you stick a GoPro up near the face of a goliath grouper as they found out in this video below.

Check out the amazing footage that our friend Robert Arrington (from Deer Meat for Dinner) and his brother get while diving in Florida recently.

Can you believe this grouper kept the GoPro down for over 16 minutes before coughing it out?

That is nuts!

Great job Deer Meet For Dinner crew (especially jumping in with all of the sharks).

Keep up the great work.

Enjoy.

If you are an inshore fisherman, there is nothing like seeing tailing redfish.

Your heart beats faster, you realize you have to make a perfect cast to get your bait or lure right in front of the redfish’s face, and you know that you have to do it quickly (before the redfish changes course or gets spooked).

Well, Capt. Lawson Builder and his buddy Paul Puckett decided to go out and find some tailing redfish using their drone.

They got some amazing footage, but I still have one question…

Why didn’t anyone try to catch these tailing reds? I know Capt. Lawson is a pro at catching redfish.

Either way, at least now they know how to find them quickly in the future using a drone. Pretty cool.

Enjoy.
