There are people in life that fish, spear, and hunt similar to an Engineer

Very slow, very steady, and very calculated… (I know, I went to Georgia Tech)

And then there are people that fish, spear, and hunt like a Boss

Ferocious, wild, and taking no prisoners… like this diver!

I still have no idea how he managed to get a couple of these lobster.

I won’t ruin it for you, but in this video, our friend Mike Shipe goes to town on some big spiny lobster. He grabs them with his hands and gets a few with a lobster lasso (aka snare), and then he pulls out the spear gun…

Take note that he only had time to pull back one band on his spear gun in between shots.

Great stone shot man!

Note: This was all filmed off of Jacksonville, FL

Snook Heaven exists!

In all seriousness, if there was a Snook Heaven, this would be it.

I have heard about these unbelievable schools of snook spawning in Florida, but had never seen one up close like this.

But thanks to our friends over at Landshark Fishing TV who had the courage to jump in the water at the Juno Beach Pier (where the water isn’t always this clear, and there are usually a few monster sharks hanging around), we all get to witness something pretty special…

The largest Snook Spawning ritual caught on video yet!

And check out the snook at the 2:21 mark. He has a leader he is carrying around (the Ultimate Snook badge of honor no doubt).

In other news, if you can’t catch a Snook from the Juno Beach Pier, then you can’t catch one anywhere…

Enjoy this amazing footage, and thanks to Landshark Fishing for sending it over.

Bravo AFTCO.

Another amazing fishing video.

(If you never saw their Redfish video, “BOOM! Now This Is How You Make A Redfish Video”, then CLICK HERE to watch it)

Now I don’t know about you, but this video has me wanting to head down to Miami for some Biscayne Bonefish action!

And as an angler that pales in comparison to my brother Luke with a fly rod, I actually liked to see some guys catching bonefish on spinning reels (where I am a little more comfortable).

Amazing fighting fish, amazing footage, and me thinks it would be tough to recreate a better Miami bonefish video. Once again, well done AFTCO.

Team Googan is BACK!

If you missed his earlier videos that made our home page, you’ve got to watch these next:

And in this wild video below, Team Googan is going after Tarpon… using nothing but 10lb braid on a kid’s “Amazing Spiderman Fishing Rod”.

Not to mention, he is doing this in his kayak right out in front of South Beach, Miami.

Epic.

The OFFICIAL Spiderman Tarpon video is at the bottom of this post, but I wanted to post his amazing “Spiderman Rod Review” here as well. He even hooks a shark on it while doing the review!

If Alex Fogg, aka “The Lionfish Killer”, was a country singer, I can only imagine his hit song would be…

“Save A Reef, Kill A Lionfish”

(a play off of the hit song “Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy” for those of you that don’t like country music)

And yes, this picture below is what 1,399 dead lionfish look like! They put a water bottle in so you can get a frame of reference to just how many lionfish are in this “death tub”.

lionfish massacre jacksonville

I can only imagine that someone had some serious carpal tunnel after cleaning all of those lionfish… (in case you didn’t know, lionfish are incredibly good to eat).

And for those of you that only thought the lionfish invasion was mostly a big deal in the Gulf of Mexico, all of this footage was taken from Jacksonville, FL! So this lionfish issue is quickly moving up the east coast as well.

How can you help eliminate the destructive lionfish from our reefs and underwater ecosystems?

Become a Reef Ranger, or just get out there and pluck off a lionfish or two (or 1,000) when you see them.

To learn more about becoming a Reef Ranger (run by the FWC – Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission), click here.

In the meantime, enjoy our friend Alex Fogg and crew putting the hurting on some lionfish!

Guess Who?

Yep, the Lionfish Killer Alex Fogg is back at it again…

If you don’t who “The Lionfish Killer” is, you can watch one his most popular videos, “The Ultimate Lionfish Massacre” here.

And this time he is lassoing lionfish (aka using a lobster snare), lassoing Florida spiny lobster, and then smoking more lionfish like an underwater wrangler.

If you didn’t know, the FWC (Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission) approved a new ruling for the 2015 mini-lobster season that you can keep one extra lobster tail per day if you kill 10 lionfish in the same day (click here to read the FWC rule).

So for divers like Alex Fogg that can kill lionfish faster than Chuck Norris could, it equates into an extra lobster both days of mini-lobster season.

Now if you didn’t get to read Luke’s “Ultimate Guide To Catching Lobster In The Florida Keys While Snorkeling” (you can click here to watch/read it), he left off one of the options to catch lobster (using a snare or “lasso” to catch lobster).

But thankfully for the Lionfish Killer Alex Fogg, you now know exactly how to get a snare behind a lobster and into your boat.

Well done! And what a heck of a ledge at towards the end of this video! Wow!

So why do Mako Sharks dislike Japan so much? Haha. Just kidding. They love Japan… they just hate meat with a line on it!

This video was taken by Salt Strong “Fishing Tribe” member Marcy Mock (if you want to be part of the closed Fishing Tribe group on Facebook, make sure to register as a FREE Salt Strong member here first, and then we will grant you access).

While Marcy was out boating off of Pompano, FL, they came across an approximate 10ft, 500 pound Mako Shark that didn’t like the fact the meat hanging off of their boat had a line attached to it…

So what did the Mako do?

It did what any of us would do… It went for the Suzuki motor to show Marcy who is boss! Haha.

Make sure to watch this entire video as they get some shots of the teeth marks on the motor towards the end.

Wild Stuff! Great job on the video Marcy!

Jessica Jae is one heck of an angler!

If you recognize her in this cast net video below, it is because she is the same girl that appeared in the extremely popular redfish video, “These Two Girls Tear Up The Redfish Near Cocoa Beach!” (watch that one here).

And in this video below, Jessica is “serving up pancakes” (aka having the cast net form a nice circle like a pancake) with her textbook cast (using a 10ft cast net)!

For those of you that don’t know much about cast nets, a 10ft cast net like this probably weighs around 15 lbs depending on what lead weights she has on there, and they are not very easy to toss into a “pancake-like” shape as Jessica does in this cool video.

So well done Jessica!

And for your performance, Jessica Jae = Salt Strong

Fishing on a public pier is very similar to surfing.

In both fishing and surfing, there always seems to be “Locals” who believe they have more of a right to be there than you do (even though it is all public property).

And there is always at least one surfer hothead (or an old salty fisherman) that will not hesitate to let you know they don’t appreciate you getting near “Their Spot”.

In the case of the video below, the scene took place just this week on the Ocean Inlet Pier (Boynton Beach, FL), and the argument was apparently over the “best fishing spot” on the pier.

The Lesson: Don’t be that guy (or that girl). There are certainly enough fish in the sea to go around.

Also, SHAME on them for using a perfecting good fishing rod to hit someone when they could have used a fist…

And if anyone can find the rest of this video (to see what happened after they were fighting on the ground), send it our way please.
