I am willing to bet your last fishing charter didn’t turn out like this one…

Because it’s not every day you come back from an offshore fishing charter with an EXTRA 200 lbs of meat…

But for this incredibly lucky angler named Scott Gettle, that was the case this past weekend as he went out with Captain Tom Boyll of Sarasota Offshore.

Here’s the scoop:

Tom, Scott, and few others went long-range offshore fishing this past weekend (well over 100 miles off of Sarasota), and while out in about 550 feet of water, Scott hooked into a Monstrous fish.

After a solid 30 minute fight with what everyone on the boat knew was going to be a big fish, they all gasped when they saw the MASSIVE 270lb Warsaw Grouper finally surface.

In fact, this grouper rivals the size of many of the Goliath Grouper trophies that we publish on our page (see all of the best Goliath Grouper videos in this video library).

A grouper so big, it took up a huge chunk of space in the boat (you can see the size of the boat they were out in at the 18-second mark).

For those of you wondering how Scott was able to legally keep this grouper, it is because this is a Warsaw Grouper (not a Goliath Grouper), and the legal limit in Florida allows you to keep 1 (one) Warsaw Grouper per day… of course, this one was enough to feed everyone’s family.

Amazing job Scott and Captain Tom Boyll! This was certainly not an easy fish to land!

P.S. – If you think your friends and fishing network would like to see this, please tag a friend or share it. You Rock! Fish On!

Let’s face it, you either love spearfishing or you hate it.

And what I have found is that many of the spearfishing “nay-sayers” don’t realize just how much love and respect for the ocean that the vast majority of spearfishing enthusiasts have (of course there are some bad apples just like in any sport).

For instance, most people don’t realize that while spearfishing, you pass up WAY more fish than you shoot at. Not to mention, anything you shoot at, you plan on eating. Unfortunately, spearfishing videos like the one below can give just the opposite illusion to people that have never been spearfishing by making it appear as though every single dive down someone is shooting something (which couldn’t be further from the truth).

Of course this false myth will likely to continue forever because no one wants to see a video where a spearfisherman makes 20 dives down before ever seeing something to shoot.

What I also liked about this video, is that in the first minute, I could have just as easily named this video “The Ultimate Salt Life Compilation” as there is some amazing underwater footage, beach footage, surfing footage, and more.

Great job Youngblood Spearfishing. Good to see you back on our home page after your first video went VIRAL called, “Whale Sharks, Spearfishing, Lobster, Surf, and Bikinis” (watch it here next)

There are girls that like to fish, and then there are girls that like to catch the biggest fish in the sea…

I would say that our friends Deidra Bridger (of Team Tenacity) and Mallory Herzog (of Big Bully Outdoors) fit the latter, as these girls are some of the strongest and toughest female anglers in the state of Florida, if not the country.

And these girls certainly know how to fight (and land) some monster fish!

In this video, the female angling duo battle a monster Goliath Grouper near Boca Grande, Florida that weighs more than the two of them combined! Well done. Awesome video ladies!

Darcizzle (from Darcizzle Offshore) is back!

And this time she is taking her fishing skills underwater as she goes spearfishing with the FAU Spearfishing Team down in the Florida Keys.

If you missed the last few Darcizzle videos, here are a few of our favorites:

Otherwise, enjoy this latest video fromDarcizzle as she and the FAU crew catch lionfish, snapper, and a big kingfish.

This Salt Strong high school girl, Lexis Chancey, is no stranger to monster fish…

In fact, this is the second time that she has made the home page here at Salt Strong. The first time was when she landed a beast of a 30-lb Snook (watch that video here).

Of course this time she is having to battle a fish that weighs more than she does, all from a kayak. Notice how she comes pretty close to flipping over at one point. Wow!

And if the last name sounds familiar, it is because she is the daughter of Monster Fish Legend Capt. Ben Chancey of Chew on This. If you never saw Capt Ben’s first huge Goliath Grouper from a kayak just a month ago, then check out that video here.

Related: The fishing hole in this video appears to be the exact same spot that a “Goliath Grouper Snaps Kayaker’s Rod and He Still Lands It” video took place. Watch it here if you never saw it.

Just when you thought you had seen it when it comes to Grouper videos, this video of a Grouper hitting a diver right where it counts…

And it’s around the 41-second mark… you’ll know when you see it, as you can see him quickly go into the “I’ve been hit” position…

You can even hear his dive partner laughing after it happens. I guess I can’t blame him, because if this happened to Luke (the other Salt Strong founder) while I was diving, I imagine I would be laughing pretty hard as well.

This Grouper bashing occurred down in Cozumel, and Steve “Buddha” Lee is the unlucky diver that got a surprise when he went to open his feeding bag.

For those of you that follow us frequently (we thank you big time by the way), you know that we recently posted “The Top 9 Goliath Grouper Videos on the Internet” (you can see all 9 Goliath Grouper videos here).

But what I didn’t know was that I would be handed this unbelievable video of Manny Puig going “Goliath Grouper Noodling” just a week later, as it certainly would have made that  best of the Goliath Grouper video list from last week.

In fact, this might be the one of the most exciting Goliath Grouper videos yet. I will let you be the judge of that though.

If you don’t know who Manny Puig is, he is the wild guy with the long hair that isn’t afraid of any animal, fish, shark, or mammal. He has made appearances on the show (and movie) Jackass, along with many other extreme animal videos as well.

And in this video, Manny free dives down next to a Goliath Grouper, puts his hand all the way in the monster fish’s mouth, and… well I will let you watch and see what happens.

Make sure to pay extra close attention at the end of the video to see what comes out of the Goliath Grouper’s mouth. Unless Manny is a magician and had a crab up his sleeve, that crab just made one of the coolest Goliath Grouper cameos ever.

This new video from BlacktipH (featuring Captain Ben Chancey from Chew on This) is proof that Florida is the Fishing Capital of the World.

In one afternoon, the fishing duo goes from catching MONSTER Jacks, to Tarpon, to Goliath Grouper, and even take a few stabs at catching Snook.

I can’t imagine a better day on the water (unless you throw in a few redfish), so kudos to BlackipH on another great video.

P.S. – Did anyone else notice the awesome hat Captain Ben Chancey was wearing? #saltstrong

P.P.S. – If you liked this fishing video, don’t be shy about liking it or sharing it. It’s what makes the Internet so darn fun.

This could be the most overall exciting independent fishing video that we have seen come out of the Florida Keys!

And I’ll be honest, after watching this video (3 times), I still didn’t know what picture I wanted to use for the post cover… there were just so many different things to choose from…

Heck, I didn’t even know what part of the video to focus on for the title!

Why?

Because this video has sick sl0-mo Tarpon footage, these guys go swimming with a huge school of tarpon, they catch a Goliath Grouper, they catch sharks… the video just keeps getting better and better!

But I finally decided to feature the scene where a huge hammerhead is trying to attack their hooked tarpon, and one of the anglers launches a dead Jack out to fool the shark into leaving the Tarpon alone.

After yesterday’s heartbreaking video of a baby Tarpon getting eaten by a Shark (you can see that video here next), this was an uplifter!

And make sure you watch until the end. Even after the scene with the dead Jack decoy and the Hammerhead, the video keeps going. In fact, a family of Hammerhead Sharks gets lured in by another string of dead Jack Crevalle.

NUTS!

Well done Trent Long, Dan Carvin, Ben Kurth, Chris Davis and Tommy Strickland. You guys are officially declared “Salt Strong”.

Enjoy this amazing Florida Keys Tarpon video below.

P.S. – If you watch closely, the Tarpon swims off when they trick the Hammerhead. Well done guys!
