Have you ever wanted to test the strength of your fishing rod?

Well, not only did these guys go to some extreme lengths to test their “Catch The Fever” fishing rod, but they strapped the rod on a forklift and attempted to lift a dude up!

And it wasn’t some big-game rod meant for 1000 pound marlin that has no bend, this is a 7’6 medium-heavy fishing rod meant to catch catfish (as you will see, it has ALOT of bend to it).

Of course, these “Catch The Fever” fishing rods aren’t meant for just small catfish, but even a 100-pound catfish isn’t going to have a chance to snap this rod!

Check out the bend in this thing when the forklift gets up to the top!

Holy unbreakable fishing rod.

Check it out.

Step back Dude Perfect, pro bass fisherman Tom Redington is in the house!

Check out the trick casts that this guy can do with balloons.

The “red balloon” one was epic!

While pro angler Tom Redington was doing some footage for Boy’s Life (where he blogs every month), the crew set up some cameras and balloons and asked Tom to do some target practice.

Here is what they captured.

You might recall back in May that we featured a 3-year old named Kellan Hunt that put on a serious fishing clinic that would impress even an old salty angler (you can see it here if you missed it).

Well, little Kellan is all grown up now (he’s now four), and this time he is tossing pancakes for bait.

Check out the spread this little guy throws over the back of his grandfather ‘s boat (that he can barely see over).

Note: His grandfather is famous fishing guide Capt. Scott Moore.

Well done!

Only one thing we would like to change Kellan… send us your address so we can get you a Salt STRONG sun protection shirt. You deserve it.

Have you ever seen a $2,000 cast net?

How about a cast net made of braided fishing line?

Well, Capt. Jeff Maggio (aka Lunkerdog) has now seen and tossed both…

And not only does he toss this $2,000 braid cast net like a boss, he launches it… literally!

We got to catch up with our friend Lunkerdog at ICAST this year and he said he although he does not support guys sporting their braid on their reels, it is 100% ok to sport your braid if you have a braided cast net.

If you go to the trouble of making a hand made cast net from braid like Mike Wallace did, then by all means, sport the heck out of it.

Lunkerdog also said to expect some big things over the next 12 months.

I can’t make this stuff up folks…

In what could be one of the weirdest advertisements to get kids to protect their skin from the sun, Nivea makes a robotic bird that poops out SPF!

Yep.

Apparently, some people are having so much trouble putting sunscreen on their kids that they invented a flying bird robot that would “poop out sunscreen” on kids to make the experience a fun one.

I can only assume that this is a prank to get kids thinking that sunscreen is cool. Let’ just hope they don’t start associating real bird poop for sunscreen…

I can only imagine kids being conditioned to rubbing anything in that comes from a bird’s bottom. Haha.

I guess they never heard of the 50+ UPF rated sun protection shirts from Salt Strong!

It’s a whole lot easier to protect your kids from the sun than making a robot sunscreen pooping bird!

Either way, we are all about supporting kids protecting themselves out in the sun.

When you see a trout stocking truck pull up to your favorite fishing hole, one thing is for certain…

Grab your fishing rod and be the first one to get a lure in front of these trout’s faces!

These farm-raised trout don’t even know what an artificial fishing lure is yet, so why not be the first to show them? Haha.

Pretty cool seeing so many trout shoot out in 90 seconds.

These things are so excited to be out of the tank in the truck that some of them are shooting up the boat ramp!

This is Lake Mission Viejo in California and the company that stocks the trout is Mount Lassen Trout Inc.

Over the past year, we’ve had some pretty amazing cast net videos on our site.

But never before have we had a true one-handed cast net toss with a guy talking on the phone with his other hand.

Pretty sick!

And it isn’t like he just barely gets it out there in a half spread, this thing is a well-thrown pancake!

Check it out below!

Well done “Team Googan”!

I think this is the first time we have featured a skateboarder catching a fish here on Salt Strong…

Regardless if it staged or not, this is pure awesome.

And as you will see, this skateboarder doesn’t just pull up a small bream, he rips out a trophy fish!

That is pretty funny stuff.

Note: Stick around until the very end of this video as you will find out who wins the battle…

If you are an inshore angler, you probably aren’t the biggest fan of puffer fish (aka porcupine fish or blow fish).

Why?

Well, they are constantly biting the tails off of your artificial lures, stealing bait, and getting in the way of you catching the fish you are targeting.

And it is especially painful when you are fishing with expensive plastic lures like these Berkley Gulp shrimp.

The Puffer Fish vs Grouper

So when I came across this video that had a thumbnail of a puffer fish in a grouper’s mouth, I just had to watch.

And once I saw the ending, it was too hilarious not to share with you.

Also, some pretty cool up close footage of that grouper with the puffer in his mouth!

I can only imagine because the Grouper was too choked up to move…

Hope you enjoy and don’t forget to share with your friends and fellow anglers.

I am certain they will thank you for this one.
